I saw a pre-order pack for GT6 in a game stop today and the description read something along the lines of "create your own championships" and "improved track creator" both of which are features I'm quite excited about. I suppose that's already widely known but I couldn't seem to find a "What we know will be in GT6" thread yet. So do we already know anything about these?

As far as the thread goes, this is the "what we know" thread technically cause it's a news feed type thread and thus you have to read through each page. I don't recall seeing anything on the championship creator, but it has been reported for a while that there would be an improved track creator.

I think the Kaz quote means that you'll be able to race any car in any a-spec race, something that greatly annoyed me. Its hard to build a car that you think MIGHT be suitable to the competition, only to discover you blow the doors off everyone.

Speaking of which, I wonder if the AI will finally drive modified cars?! If I'm not mistaken, every AI car is always stock.

@emmettbrown1955 - I think what you're thinking of in terms of championship creating would be this from the original GT6 reveal...

Community/Club/Race Organizer

  • Players can form their own communities
  • Various community levels from local and domestic to global
  • Players themselves can create and manage their own online events

This will be a nice feature for online racing.
I don't recall seeing anything about being able to create your own championships/race series for use in single player A-Spec mode - but that would be a welcome addition too.

In the seasonal events in GT5, the AIs are modified. Well. Seeing as they have modified mufflers of course. ;)

I would love to know what modifications they run, seems to be a generic modification applied to the cars,They do run Titanium Exhausts(or maybe sports) that's for sure

Weren't there also a few complaints recently about a TT where the lead cars had a higher PP than we were allowed to? These didn't max the car out or anything but it sure wasn't stock.

PD seem to give certain cars in the Seasonals a tune, and I agree, it would be interesting to know what they did to them.

When you race in GT Mode, you can see(when viewing the grid before entering the event- IF you updated GT5) the cars have more horsepower than stock. Some even more than just semi-racing exhaust power levels. But, in the Modern Japanese car event, I think the R35 has less horsepower than stock(450hp? instead of 473?)

If you have a chromeline car, those bits may be what are in the "modified" AI cars. Check the Super Car Event in B-Spec Mode Level 15? Those races show you the maximum grip tyre as well. The only AI cars that are "stock" appear to be the Tuner Cars.

It's the 21st actually.
The Sony press conference will be on the 20th, though I don't think a lot of info on GT6 will be given there (they will focus on PS4). Info will probably be given throughout the week.

Regardless if any GT6 news is given with the Sony conference or later in the expo ( although i agree, it will more than likely be later ) the fact that the silence on GT6 is deafening right now is more than likely because they are saving it for Gamescom.........Either that or its delayed and they dont want to big up a game up that will be late.

IIRC Course Creator & Karting (GT5) announced at Gamescom 2010. Maybe we'll get some big news this year too !

Especially for the fact that GT is famous in Europe. Look at the Silverstone event, that was mind-blowing and it was in Europe. 👍

Lucas Ordonez tested a V8 Supercar yesterday, and today there's a photo shoot with him and some GT Academy cars in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Another clue for the suggested GT Academy Australia.

Sooner than that. That puts it after the key shopping weekend on the year.

Key shopping weekend for the US. Remember that the US still only made up a quarter of GT5 sales.

Still, isn't Black Friday the 29th this year? Or are you referring to another key shopping weekend? That's the only one I can think of, but my knowledge of US shopping trends is not broad... :D

As far as events go, they've still got Gamescom and TGS before the expected release window (November-December). I'd expect more out of TGS than Gamescom, if only because it's on home soil for PD.

On the flipside Europe is GT's biggest market so I'm expecting closer to a 50/50 split between them! :)

The first playable demo of GT5 was presented at the Gamescom, I'm pretty sure we will get some major news.

I'm thinking rather than 50/50 GamesCom and TGS, it's going to be slanted more to GC's side. It seems that with GT5, we got quite a load of info there, and some additional goodies at TGS. As others have said, Europe gobbles up Gran Turismo like crazy, and is GT's biggest market. They were the biggest reason Prologue was a Platinum seller just on pre-orders after all.

I wonder if GT6 will experience some of the delays that GT5 experienced I hope not

It really can't. They're going to have to release it by Christmas, ready or not. If they miss the holiday season they miss the best chance for sales for an entire year.

And with the new consoles, the sales for GT6 are going to drop off much faster than GT5 did as people transition to the new consoles. They need to get the sales in up front and early.
