GT7 Circuit Experience Overly Difficult....

Yesterday, I got Gold for the Le mans circuit. But there was something unusual.....

I went a bit on the outside of the right hand turn before the first chicane that's a bit uphill. I got a .500 second penalty which is unusual as there are some parts of the track where You go a bit wide of the white markings on the left side of the track & You're disqualified.

So with this time penalty, I crossed the part where the penalty marker/line is to deduct the time. But instead of getting the entire .500 deducted, there was some penalty time still remaining (.387). At this point, I still was ahead of my best time's ghost car. Funnily, when I crossed the finish line, my overall time was behind my best time.

Usually, time penalties come up in races but getting in CE was unusual. I think this only happens at this track & nowhere else?
It happens at a few places, does at Nurburgring abusing some kerbs.

How frustrating is this?

From the Tsukuba CE. I just started and that was my 2nd attempt on the 2nd sector. 😎

Closest I've come to gold was .003" and the closest I got gold by was .002". Hard to even comprehend that amount of time.
I got the gold on the next attempt. But missing it by .001 of a second is just gut wrenching.

Well, in such a sector that's still..... bearable.

Now imagine you did the best lap of your life on the ring... and that 0.001 separates you from gold!:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Yeah, that happened to me a couple/few times on the CE for the Nurbürgring in GT Sport before I got the gold. I know I got within .005 at least 3 times. And with that track being so long, having to do restarts over and over again just takes SO much time.

After 1.13 update, its much easier to gold everything, even with controller. At le mans full lap experience i stuggle to get ahead of Demo ghost pre 1.13 update, after update im bus lenghts ahead xD. The physics with controller is much more enjoyable, but a bit too easy now. (Track experience)

A few tokyo tracks is what i have left, the most annoying ones xD

Staying really calm and not forcing anything.. if necessary watch the ghost over and over again from the same perspective as you are skiing.. once you have a feel for your line, see how much gas and brake it uses when and how fast it is into which corner.... because the nuts and bolts are the entry speeds into most corners.

I had that happen on the S9 licence test at Deep Forest. I was gutted after spending the best part of 4 hours getting to that point. Luckliy after much swearing and a smoke I had another crack and got it on the 2nd try.

Also .005 short on S10. That was after about 2 hours. I felt better about that though as I monged the bus stop pretty badly. Beat it by nearly a second on the next try.

Finished all the Golds today. :)

Automatic, TCS 1 (Except Laguna Seca, Manual, TCS 0).
Has anyone got gold on Laguna Seca while using an automatic transmission? Using the paddles hurts my beat up, old body pretty good, so I'm hoping to avoid taking more morphine (:indiff:) if someone can tell me it is possible to gold while using an automatic transmission. I know, I know.....Just take the morphine, be happy and use the paddles!

Yeah I got it with automatic transmission, but it was with a controller. Once I got used to driving with the wheel I'm going back to Laguna to try it with the wheel and automatic transmission.

Here I.... as far as I can remember I didn't have to switch to MT for any CE, some missions are better with MT but I didn't need it for CE.

I did all my CE with controller on auto. I haven’t done all the CE yet , but I found it comfortable enough with auto and even maintain tcs at 3.

Laguna was my first CE gold, partly because I am very familiar with the track ( from mobile games RealRacing3) , and it was pretty easy gold for me.

wow thought Tokyo Expressway East Clockwise would be an easy CE given the mileage I’ve put in!! Sector 2 I’m stuck on bronze 9 tenths away from gold and god only knows where those tenths are gonna come from I’m at the absolute limit, all assists off studied demo following demo ghost just can’t replicate its pace through turn 3

You can use automatic on controller for everything. Ive used it to gold all licenses, circuit experience, cafe, missions including the drifting missions. Manual on a controller isnt fun. I did this pre 1.13 and barely got gold. It should be easier now I may try it again. Turn on the demonstration ghost. Its what i used i noticed he was going wide for the corners I immediately shaved time off. Everything but abs off. Also dont be afraid of the corkscrew.

I always go for the lap attack CE first. Then only the sectors. Tried autopolis just now. Pretty easy for me surprisingly, compared to that tough sardegna lap attack. That sardegna lap attack took me almost 5 hours!!
If it helps , I drive bonnet view. Counter steer off. ABS weak. Tcs3. BB 0.

I remember having suffered a little there too.

But soon you get the Gold.

Maybe you should reconsider your settings... ABS on normal is recommended by many, the bottom line is that it should be better... and TCS 1 is 99% sufficient, especially if you don't drive so cleanly, this high TCS costs a lot of time. And just my opinion... first the sectors, then the whole lap, especially if you don't know the car and/or the track 100%, I think it's better.

You might be right. 😊
If any CE doesn’t work for me, I will try your suggestion

yeah I’ve been turning it off since the patch, G29 user, heavy footed, wouldn’t have been able to gold laguna seca with it on, not a chance

I would like a TCS 0.5 setting. I'm assuming TCS 0 now is somewhere between 0 and 1 pre-patch.
TCS at launch was actually decent, only activated when it had to and if you drove clean it wouldn’t kick in much at all. It seems to have become more intrusive and now TC0 is basically like TC2 at launch. It’s crazy how much they’ve changed the grip model

Just got big nurburgring, autopolis, and fisherman left. Probably start with dirt. Panorama was tough until I figured out the first right hander.

Damn, I'd set ABS assistance to weak at some point and just discovered how much time is gained with it on default. All of sudden any sectors with significant braking are tenths quicker, reckon I could've saved myself hours of effort on all the ones I've completed so far.

Will need even more time to go back and see how much quicker I might be.

But also keep in mind that patch 1.13 has changed a lot, some improvements can also come from there.
