It think a lot of the issues are DR rating related. People don’t want to lose or drop a DR as this effects the points given out in the manufactures cup & nation cups etc.. (so I believe).
Also I think I read somewhere that if you finish in the lower half of the grid you lose DR rating too.
To be honest, i was thinking that as well also, as it was a mixed lobby of C & B drivers, and the most aggressive ones & ones punting us were the B drivers

in GTS, i would often pick the non-meta cars at this track, because i'm special dammit, and i felt faster in some parts. like you, i would assume people are just jerks who would throw their grandma into traffic for an extra DR point.

what i learned is that this is the one track where you can't really do that, unless you want to be 'that guy' for all the other drivers. theres a small window for drivers to keep their speed through the chicane, and if there is a car going 20% slower through the gap... well, it might get hit. of course its on the driver behind to watch out for that sort of thing, but its hard to blame people for not wanting to lose so much time every lap.

again, not trying to make you feel bad or anything. optimally you are sort of 'working' with the other cars to make sure you're all running as fast as possible. if you're constantly getting charged by cars flashing their lights and trying to get around you, i think its on you to change cars or make room for them to pass.
Well said, and you are right but i was at latter part of cod, turning left before quick right when the driver hit me in left rear really hard as i was turning in, knocked me into wall, i was carrying good speed through it as well but i did notice he was driving very erratic behind me going into chicane

Race A. I waited 15mins in the quali practice to set a 50.700. Ive watched the top time and I dont understand how they can get 2/3 tenths faster.
From what I can see, you have to do a preparatory lap - running high on the banking so you enter the start/finish straight as fast as possible, then run your next lap as close to the yellow line as you can for the entire lap. That justs shaves off those extra few tenths.

I am losing all the interest in daily races by now.

Ridiculous free cars for daily races are... Ridiculous.
Each time I join a B or C race, most of the time, my car is the only one that is not a 787(C) or a WRX(B).

It is a yellow party on B and an orange & green on C. Sure, it is easy to get them.

I don't mind if there is a better car in each race, but if PD people had some brains working on dailies,
would be easy to get over this.
It would be a matter of making the better car more tyre wear, more fuel usage, or, to the others, better turning grip,
in those cases of having less speed on straights or whatever.
Those who work there, are being paid to work and use their brains!

Daily C at Daytona with these cars, is giving the win to the 787 without much effort from the drivers. Ridiculous.

Thank you PD, I lost what I had with GTSport. The will of playing online every day.

Ridiculous.

P.S. Many of the super-hyper-god META cars drivers, think they have the right of pushing the slowest cars, just because they are
gods and super drivers on straights.

A game with hundreds of cars and the daily races are a trophy races, brcause PD decided to give all the cars free for races.
And because who sets the races don't have any idea of what to do with BOP.

What a joke.

Same results if you go the other direction.
I got battered pretty badly when I put a Trump decal on the back of my car at a Goodwood race.
I used to put "[BRXT]" as my clan tag in MW2. The absolute raging it generated among everyone was totally worth it, especially as I specialise in sniping and routinely went 10-0 (except for team-kills from people raging out about it).

I just watched a clip on reddit about someone's daily race C daytona quali lap being super high by cutting the busstop chicane. is this actually legit? they had the exact same problem a couple of months ago, and they just.. forgot about it?

Had some good fun in a couple B races this morning. Did the first race in the WRX. Started 6th and finished 4th. Noticed the guy that won was flying in in the Alpha 155.

So I hopped in it and improved my qauli time to a 47.3. Was on pace for a high 46 but the timer ran out and took me in to the race so it's definitely capable of 46's.

Started 4th in the 2nd race and briefly got into 3rd before getting punted not once but twice by the guy who started 3rd which allowed 5th to take over 3rd. The second shunt he kept going but I ended up catching back up to him and he was kind enough to slow down at the finish line and let me back by and apologized after the race. So good on @theYoz. No idea if he's on here.

The alpha is really good on the brakes and super stable through the COD and doesn't get upset nearly as much on the kerb. Highly recommend the Alpha if you don't want to drive the WRX.

I may try the alpha today,i like it and lancer but i want to master that Scirocco on there 1st, i feel underpowered cars that you can sorta match wrx times help me when i do use better cars

It's a matter of perspective, I guess. My experiences were very similar to yours and I had the most fun I've had in GT7 since the first Race C we had at Daytona.
It's still fun, just unfortunate that I'm getting the worst of the contact. Getting tapped and losing control is just the way it goes at Daytona sometimes.

I did more Daytona races last night, went very well despite all the usual problems. (BS penalties, buggy server long waits, couple dirty drivers, inconsistent track limit penalties, bad matchmaking). It's like playing a Souls game, you know it will piss you off multiple times while playing, but you keep coming back for more.

The best results last night

Thanks to @Milouse I can now track my DR again

My gains so far this week at Daytona, almost back to DR A

While I'm sure this has already been discussed here, Daily Race A is a total 💩show. Like why are collision penalties on at the the oval configuration??? I mean it's bad enough that most people don't know how to work the draft. PD's tone deafness definitely showed here and it's cringeworthy. If they can't get the oval racing right then they should just stick to having road racing only in the daily events.

Rant over.

It was only race A and therefore doesn't matter in principle, but can someone please explain to me plausibly why I get 3 seconds there.... I really don't understand it....

Simple, you survived. All the game sees is there was contact, penalize the one that 'gains' from it.

Contact -> someone goes off or loses a position -> punish the car that comes out best

I had it in race C twice last night, very annoying.

Can you still get hit/hit a car, then than go off track to avoid a penalty/give one to the other driver? 🤔

Seems so, although I haven't seen anyone do it intentionally lately. But it's the same as a dive bomb brushing by you and going off. You get the penalty.

Actually last night I had a car brush mine before punting a 3rd car off. Even though the punter came out ahead of me, I ended up with the penalty for the car going off. I guess I had more DR or higher speed after the punter got slowed from putting car nr 3 into the wall.

I don't get the track limit penalties at Daytona at all. The high speed bus stop is so random when you get 0.5 sec and when not. Last night I was behing another car, he cut the exit by 2 car widths, I touched the white line, didn't even go over. We're going at the same speed, he gets away with the big cut, I get 0.5 sec for ignoring track limits

I seems fixed.I tried to follow his ghost (only for scientific reasons of course :dopey:) but always got a hefty penalty.Great if they really fixed it but where is the leaderboard reset? 🤔
Thanks, I wanted to try it myself, because I can not believe that this really works after the issues at the first race at daytona.

I just tried my first Seaside race in GT7, and I found something that makes the chicane of death harder for me (I hit the wall on my first lap).
I shared this screenshot a long time ago, in GT Sport.
It shows the white curb being the aiming point for turning in.

In GT7, it is no longer bright white. It's dark gray, just like the track surface.
It is definitely tougher for me to spot the mark. :irked:

I am in shock, honestly! I've raced with a dirty driver here and there but almost half the lobby was scum 🫤 And all of them A-rated!?

No shame in running you off road, ramming, trying to pit maneuver you and much more 😢 Survived up to lap 3 even though punted and never once did I retaliate. Then got slammed and lost my clean race bonus for the crash.. Not one got a penalty and at least 50 crashes in 3 laps. So angry...

Just had the dirtiest race I’ve ever had and it was an A lobby. This was hilarious. Starts at the hairpin before the chicane a few seconds in and the whole race is ramming and bombing after. Including one lunatic that was ramming me for the whole straight. I was cracking up as it was so absurd. Like there was a full moon or something.

Had a few laps in the 787B this morning. Man as a 46 year old that thing is out of my comfort zone. 😂 Its still fun though. First time I've driven that thing since Forza 5 or 6. Got down to a 30.4 or .5 I believe. Mid 29 should be doable for me with a bit more practice.
Don't feel bad in 59 and out my comfort zone alot ...hold your line elbows out.

Bank holiday isn't it - everyone has had a couple of beers in preparation for the weekend, it's like that every Friday evening!
