Stupid unrelated question. Got the PS5 last week and for the love of all things holy i cannot get my head around the playback recording. On PS4, i'd watch my replay within GT7, hitting the share button twice to begin recording and twice at the end. This worked just fine. I do the same on PS5 and I see the little tick top right corner to indicate recording has begun and again that it has ended, but without fail it records for a full hour, so my actual gameplay not the GT7 replay. What in the flying fadoo am I doing wrong and why is sharing on the PS5 so damn confusing?
What I do is hit the Share Button once and that brings up a menu as seen here.

Hit record and a recording timer will be at the top of the screen then play the replay. When the replay is over I hit the share button again that will bring an option to stop recording. There is also an option to change your recording settings on the far right of the menu.

I haven't had much time to race this week with the Thanksgiving holiday taking up much of my time. But, I do have today off from work and decided to do some racing. I did manage to get 2 other races in what little time I had to relax and had favorable results with a P4 and a P3. Today however, I was the in the collateral damage with others running into others entering turn 3 and pin balling everywhere. I got spun and hit the wall for a lovely 1.5 second penalty. On the last lap I was the victim of a revenge punt gone wrong. The person who hit me completely missed their target and sent me flying. Absolutely stupid I get the worst of some angry driver. The next race I go off track and fall to the back. I climb my way back to P9 but get into the back of P8 and send them flying. I get a 4 second penalty and I let them pass me on the last lap as that was the only thing I could do after my mistake. The last race I was on pole, but I go off track and try as I might, I could not reclaim the lead. I had a nice clean race with P1 at least so that made up for the previous two disaster races.

Even with my struggles, I had a great time racing this week. I did get my qualifying time down to a 1:29.7XX which put me in the top half of the starts each race. As usual, RBR is one of my stronger tracks and the results were overall positive. I did have a problem with me getting into the back of other drivers. I don't know why, but I was compensating for slipstream and I would back off the throttle if I was too close. I've never had as much of a problem as I did this week. It's not like I never do, but not as much as this week. As a result, I dropped to an "A" SR which I don't even know when my SR wasn't "S".

Qualifying is key at RBR, extreme case but my 29.1 had me 4th on the grid in a race last night, there were four cars less than a tenth behind me. I won from 4th, no way i win from 5th let alone 8th.

Got this bad boy hooked up today in Race A...I shaved 1.5 seconds off my previous qualifying, now down to 1:27.656

Loving the new update but hate that they reverted back to waiting for the full end of race timer to expire even when everyone finishes... Waiting a minute for 2 dnfs is dumb 🤣

Does anyone else use a different car for qualifying vs. running the race? At RBR I get my best QT using the Mustang, but when I run the race itself, I'm just not competitive with the Mustang, so I run the GT-R. Am I strange? Is that unusual?
I do the same. Set my time with the Supra as I find it smoother to go fast uninterrupted.

I use the GT-R to race as the higher gear ratios give a better top speed in the straights so I can catch up to those in front or defend against those behind.

I also use the GTR's twitchy rear end to quickly turn around any cars in front which crash or slow down suddenly, kind of like a quick-rack steering 😁

I don't bother qualifying there lol
I know I'm going to get spots through attrition and I know I'm fast enough to qualify in the middle of my lobbies. I don't win but generally don't finish lower than top 5. That and it's fun for me to try to scythe through traffic than it is defend my position while the top guys run away.

Is anyone else sick of wall penalties?
Daily A. I get hit by another driver into the wall and I must get a 5 second penalty. I avoid another car who has crashed ahead and in me avoiding them clip the barrier I should then get a 5 second penalty. I make an error in braking and go wide and hit the barrier I then deserve to lose the positions to the car behind but then I also deserve a 5 second penalty to go on top of that. I crash i deserve a 5 second penalty and while trying to get the car straight and pointing the right way I then touch the barrier I really then deserve another 5 seconds for cheating apparently. I like Daily A race, as it fun but the barrier penalty just spoil the race.

I ran one of those last night. Dude 4 spots ahead of me came out of the hairpin (T14 on the regular layout, I think 3 on Reverse) with 15 seconds of penalty time between pinballing into people and then hitting the wall.

Got my Daily A quali time down to 1:23.9. It took too long but finally into the 23s. There is more there for sure.

OK guys, how should I have handled this? I'm well aware I ended up too slow at the corner, but that's just because I was flummoxed. This video shows my perspective, and then the perspective of the guy who passed me. The contact is from me, not him.

Anytime I try this move, and I manage to not divebomb across the track, the guy on the outside almost always beats me around the corner. Is this just an example of me not anticipating him and I just need to take a better line around the corner? Or that he's just better than me?

Honestly, this happens multiple times a day to me, and it's one of the most frustrating things in sim racing (for me). I just don't get it.

Your video isn't working for me (says it's processing) but if you're running TC it's probably killing your corner exit. Could that be the issue?

Well got my first win in race A today, with the Corvette C7 Gr.3, it's really good on the long straights and up the hill....I flat out beat the supras and GTRs in the game running Soft tires.....

So when I asked the frenchman here why he took me out at the end of the clip below he says "you push I push", now pretty sure I had the line there and he turned in on me, thoughts?

Running a fuel save I wouldn't have even gone for the pass if he hadn't hit the wall on his exit onto the main straight, so it all feels a bit cheap to me and wrecked my attempt at a good result.

EDIT, a little later he ends up going against a spaniard who was dirty throughout the race, and ain't karma a wonderful thing (in my opinion, unless the first incident is my fault...)

Think I've found my new favourite car for Gr.3 in the mustang, that car coupled with the also powerful Ford GT duo means I think that's who my next manufacturer signing will be.

I've had good luck and pace with the Mustang pretty much everywhere I've taken it to, and for what it is - it drives very nicely and I have yet to spin off into any crowds.

So far got my quali time in Race A to a low 23.9, with a couple more tenths there to squeeze out - I think its about the top 50 right now. Got a nice livery made for it to boot.

It looks like the first incident is totally his fault, but I’m on the fence about the second one. It looks like the Spaniard lost control of his car and cut into his lane and contact was inevitable. The guy did what I would have done, which is hold his line and hope he doesn’t get swiped off the track. It could be that he exacerbated the loss of traction with a pit maneuver, or it could be that the car was so far gone that he was forced to push through the incident.

Regardless, you have the right of way in the first one and he turned into you. My guess is that he’s not a very good driver and doesn’t seem to be aware of his surroundings on the radar, etc.

I was watching them battle it out for a while in front of me, I really think the Spaniard just launched it intentionally, not that Iw as complaining

Needed to keep my nerves this afternoon! Started P8 at the Ring and pure chaos ensued in front! Was already up to P5 coming into turn 2.

Finished lap 3 in P3 and was cruising steadily in the 1:30:0s but I made a mistake into lap 6 and got a penalty, which put me off and I lost a further 0.4 seconds. By the time I served the penalty, P4 was on my ass but held my nerve for the last lap and managed P3 either way 🎉

This result also finally got me back to A/S rating 😁

Is there a thread here where people at GT7/Polyphony can read suggestions from the player base. Would really like to see Brake Balance back in daily races, especially since oversteer in many gr3 cars seems worse in GT7 than GTSport. Also, it would be great if they could enable an outside entity like Kudo to track all the wonderful stats they had for GT Sport. If Polyphony has cut them off, they should be doing it themselves imo.

What a wonderful track Watkins Glen is to drive in Race C, like Spa last week I'm going to miss this one. I could go round and round there for hours.

EDIT also shoutout to whoever it was that recommended the TT for this race, I can't be doing going back and trying to find you, but cheers

Was struggling to find a workable strategy without having to mess on with the fuel all the time and the TT just hits a sweet spot of pace, stability and fuel mix 4 until the last laps switching up to 1 and I'm shooting up the order now, just went from 12th to 4th in B Dr. Nearly won a couple in C. This car recommend changed the race for me.

First time on this week and had lots of fun doing the special events and getting used to Road Atlanta. This also meant I had a pop at the new race A having missed the fridge race earlier in the week.
I don't like this track in reverse. It's mostly o.k. but the entry into the hairpin is awkward at best and mostly awful!
Lap 1 and I meet someone who ruins my race first up.

Not sure where I get the 5 seconds from as I was only hit and the barrier penalties are not 5 seconds.
Still the next lap perhaps some kharma happens. They get dived and pushed wide by a Portuguese driver who had a penalty. In trying to recover they either don't see me or expect me to suddenly move out the way of them. In my view they pitted themselves and as they purposely hit me earlier I'm not going to loose any sleep from this.

With others having trouble I made my back to 8th where I started.

I got a 5 second barrier penalty here as well, and there was no other cars around in my incident.

Hope it's not something they're testing cos that's a big no from me.

All barrier penalties should be removed when it's a direct impact and not wall riding. I had 5 seconds in the first lap of Race A. I disconnected immediately. After 5 years of GT Sport we're still in beta phase for these damn penalties.
