I have practiced for hours on Dragon Trail but I can't get beyond 1:39.400 - any tips? I feel like I'm pushing the (meta) car to the edge already. I have tried to follow one of the ghosts but they are useless because they just drive off into the distance... why can't we watch replays like we could in GTS?! Another step backwards.
?

You can mate, just go into the leaderboards and select one of the times (it has a video icon next to it if you can watch the replay).

You can't watch replays from the actual qualifying lobby, needs to be from the main screen before you enter. (Same as Sport)

Like half the tracks it has a computer game corner where you push the limits of the game rather than any actual driving simulation to get the best time.
Sausage chicane needs to be completely abused to gain a second

Well done.

Too easy you write? Why didn't you pick Ford then? That GT race car 18' was horrendous to drive 😁😅 I was like 8-14 per lap slower in quali/race, than I would be with say Aston or Corvette, unpredictable rear end on GT due to 0 brake bias and imo horrible default setup. I picked GT due to wanting to get practice for a league (thankfully tuning is on), well it was a good practice race anyway.

Finished 13th/16, best GT driver, two other GT drivers in my lobby, who finished behind me. I almost spun half a dozen times that race. With better strategy I could have been a fantastic 12th 🥳 I know the track very well, so I will blame the car 100% on this.

Looking forward to Interlagos and Daytona, those should be more in my wheelhouse despite the default tune troubles with GT. Not sure how Tokyo or Monza will be, fast turns/sharp fast turns feel scary in GT. At least Mustang will be ok for two of the faster track gr4 races, on paper at least 🤔
If it's Manu, I pick Lexus, then use my garage car with far too many miles on it already :) I also noticed the oil was worn so I was running with a 10 HP deficit lol.

The last race had the best points, 117 for this win

The DR spread must have been getting slightly higher later on as the first two victories were in the low 90s for points.

@Sven Jurgens

Do you notice any other differences between PS4 pro and PS5? Such as physics or laptimes?

Not sure if your on a wheel or pad.
I'm on a pad and I do notice slight changes in lap times. I seem to be a little faster on ps4, maybe still used more to the DS4.

Bigger difference is in the frame rate. PS4 pro had a lot of frame drops while starting from the back. It wasn't smooth during the line up either. The frame rate drops were interfering with fine control, not ideal.

Both are easier than in GT Sport. Grass and kerbs are very lenient in GT7 compared to GT Sport, plus the Lexus has a shorter stopping distance in GT Sport. It is a bit lighter and has less HP under BoP in GT7, plus my oil was worn, not reaching the same top speeds as in GT Sport.

My best lap time in quali was 8:23, yet in GT Sport I can consistently run 8:16 laps in the same combo in race. My lap times in race were just over 8:30 yet that was with fuel saving, I did 5 no stops.

Are you using the concept lexus or the new one?

Yeah that would be a good way to self hcp 🤔 Picking a 10hp less Lexus. But I feel the deficit with Ford GT for me would be like at least 15-20hp, compared to picking Vette/Aston for N24. 😅 Not to mention, if I used a car and fuel saved like I was suppposed to. Well with Ford GT would have been pointless really..

New one, '17 as it shows in the pic ;)

535 HP with excellent oil, 525 HP when the oil starts to wear, 564 HP in GT Sport.

@samppa_944 With all the changes to GT7, I guess we need a new fuel economy list. Lexus was always decent on fuel, not the best but at the front when it comes to fuel economy. I ran FM2 with short shifting to get 3 laps out of it in Manu. From the back I could run nearly flat out in lap 3 thanks to saving a lot by drafting and coasting in lap 1. But it worked fine from pole as well.

@Sven Jurgens

Thanks for the info. I'm on ps4 pro and starting to think the game runs a little bit heavy now that I'm trying to push competitive laptimes.

My pace should have adjusted by now but I'm still off more than I usually am from the big boys. I could very well still be adapting causing something to feel off. Time will tell.

I've been stuck in B/B all week.

I've actually stopped pushing at all in an attempt to get my safety rating to A and I've had lots of clean finishes and almost no penalties for hours, yet I'm still at B.

Have they changed the criteria for gt7 over gts?

I feel like in gts 3 or 4 clean races and you moved up from B.

Race A, French guy who was listed on the left as being in 2nd place glitching and teleporting all over with his red 1 bar connection. I was in 7th after being punted off. His ghosted kart appeared from nowhere into my side and flew off into the distance, despite him still supposedly being in 2nd... and I got a 6 second penalty.

SR collapsed to C. This is utter trash.

I decided against Race A as soon as I saw it. I know what those kart races are like.

I'm now down to a 1:38.6 at Dragon Trail and having some good, fair battles in the top half of the field. It's sometimes fun to look at the replays, just to see what's happening elsewhere in the race. Quite a bit of chaos.

One of these days I'll find a fast line through that section between the hairpin and the never-ending corner.

They need to fix the Atenza or these gr.4 races will die. It's the same boring thing every single time.
A bit like the Gr3 RCZ - I went nearly 2 seconds faster than I could manage with my usual 458 or C7. 97 Supra feels good but still can't get close to my RCZ time.

I've only got 6 Gr3 cars to choose from though, 2 are Mazda Visions (which I don't like or want to keep 🙄)

At least the RCZ is good to drive. The atenza is painfully dull. Hate to say it but open setups seems to be the only way out of this one car issue. They’ve made most cars default setup so bad to force people into tuning in the single player I can’t see how they’ll turn that around. Another casualty of the schizophrenic approach to the game.

I'm enjoying the return of BOP. Race B has been the most fun I've had racing in ages. I'm now in C/S races after being in B/S and now at a level where it's an equal fight. Best quali is 1:40:240, could maybe shave half a sec if I did all my best ever sectors. Highest qualifying position has been 4th and best finish been 3rd. Very respectful racing from 95% of people. I don't have the time (not the Lao consistency) for tuning and just doing the qualifying to get good on a circuit is enough time for me. I know I could just copy someone else's tuning, but then you may as well just have BOP. I do think race A should be for tuning though to keep those who want it happy.

Id just love i we could alter simple setting....having brake balance would be one, altering the torque, braking, throttle sensitivity but that's all. The torque distribution on the Atenza is 30/70, i'd prefer it at 50/50 if not more to the front........in saying that just fix bop and make the Atenza less op,.

Or they let Sophy handle the BoP - wouldn't that work?

I'm one of the few that don't like the praised tunes. They all seem to strive for making the cars feel like in GTS, understeery and planted.
I enjoy the Audi R8 gr.3 BoP, but tuned it's just boring.

I do think we'll see changes to this once the game settles down and they fix the single player issues.

Race A should always be a basically open road car invitational IMO, with some varying rules per week / rotation of weight and power etc. but then anything within that is allowed. You may end up with a meta at the top levels, but the mid-lower tiers will always bring more variation and those that want to turn up with a tuned '65 mini for the fun of it.

I managed my first GT7 win yesterday, in the RCZ against other RCZs and some Porsches. Started on pole, built up a 7 second lead, spun 🙄 ended up in 3rd, 9 seconds off lead.

Pitted on lap 8 and joined in 5th and did a string of fastest laps, leader spun, a few had penalties and I won by 2 seconds. Phew!

Seems to be a lot more care required on the throttle than GT Sport (I use motion control and triggers and it's taking a while to get used to it)

Edit/ I'm preferring having the BOP races back, though having one of them requiring tuning would be fine.
After a 10 hour shift I just want to jump in and drive, not be buying parts and attempting tuning on every race. Big enough pain having to change cars in the garage, then go to the race, need tyres, back to the Auto store, back to the race blah blah.

Did a race C yesterday in the new Ford GT. In the start I moved up a few spots, then I passed a guy in the Meta and next lap in T2 he absolutely just dives up and pushes me to the wall. I fall back to dfl then move up again, passing the same guy and a Porsche in the sand
Next lap he comes flying again so I lift and let him pass me on the straight, and now the Porsche pit manoeuvred me in T2....
No more racin for me this week

Setting up an alt account so I can play without getting too worked up about my DR and The first few races down at DR E/D were quite an eye opener! And just reinforces the point that there needs to be way way more on boarding and coaching when playing online. The people in these rooms are very clearly playing the way the single player teaches you too. I don’t think there’s any malice but they ram you and push you, block like crazy, massive swerving all over the track. Even if you’re lapping them they’ll block every time. They’re none the wiser. I was starting at the back and it was like racing the AI trying to avoid everyone. Penalties just get piled on as they’ll try to ram you when you pass and then lose control and go off and you get 5 seconds. Quite an experience!

It's a fair point but I'm not sure how much of this will help, it's very similiar in other games. the weekly events in F1 games are when single players join the online crowd and it's much the same, they expect you to give way like the AI do and not challenge terrible moves, and then get pissy if you just simply defend your position or heaven forbid attempt an overtake.

Race A definitely has that 'one more go' addictive quality to it, seeing the same people in the lobby every time and I'm doing other things in between runs even.
I've done nothing else but karts all week. Never thought I'd like this race so much. Same people every lobby here too, matchmaking for PS5 is maybe one or two A+'s - B. Feels like a dysfunctional family at this point. I've seen a lot of sparring in the race and in chat, only for everyone to be totally cool with each other the next day. The races and the on and off drama make me laugh.

Salute to the few A+ drivers consistently doing these races while the matchmaking is the way it is. Looking at you @sturk0167 and a couple others.

The kart races have been fun. I wish I could do them more, but I have to work.
Trying to keep my pre/post race comments to a minimum, as I've had my alt account suspended twice for saying certain stuff. :embarrassed:

As far as the DR rating goes, I'd kinda like to lose the +. It makes me feel some pressure to live up to expectations, and also makes me a target for others.
Good racing, though. 👍
