This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:
Sweet! I was once ranked in the top 700 . . . out of maybe 1,000! One of the few benefits of insomnia is racing right after the dailies change!I'm really hopeful for this week at Deep Forest. About to enter 1st race in 10 min. Obviously it's still early on a Monday so expect my ranking to fall by at least 1k unless I improve 🤣 But happy to be in the 400's for a few hours 🎉
Good luck and have fun this week!
Started P13 with that time (lol) and had Eeries and TheKie in top 4. Was up to P10 but 2 drivers lagged bad and couldn't race. Finished where I started lol.Sweet! I was once ranked in the top 700 . . . out of maybe 1,000! One of the few benefits of insomnia is racing right after the dailies change!
The obvious flaw and what makes the situation ridiculous is that the Nissan Sileighty '98 for whoever doesn't already have it, isn't available to buy and that car turns out to be the one to use.Ok so I’ve seen a lot of negativity today from streams today about the daily races!
I will admit that Daily C this week is not my thing, as I don’t understand tuning and how these exploits work to get a crazy stupid fast car. But I do understand the need and why PD have given us a road car race for Daily C. They are people in this thread who I see post every week enjoying Daily A in the road cars that have suffer with short 7minutes races with no DR/SR. This then means you get people join this race just to have fun and don’t care if they crash, bash, or just act stupid as DR/SR is not effected. I saw a race the other week in the McLaren P1s at Monza where a group of friends join Daily A just wipe each other out yet you had others who were genuinely wanting to race.
To the people who are doing Daily C this week, all I have to say is have fun and enjoy it. The road cars are just as much part of this game as the race cars. If people want to just drive race cars they are other stuff you can do on this game or just play another racing game for a week.
To add insult to injury the fastest cars are those with engine swapped. So not only can't you buy the car that's fastest you also have to win the engine on the roulette. The obvious flaw and what makes the situation ridiculous is that the Nissan Sileighty '98 for whoever doesn't already have it, isn't available to buy and that car turns out to be the one to use.
It's really quite incomprehensible how Polyphony haven't updated the used car dealerships accordingly and put all the pre-2001 Silvia's in there given the daily race in question.
GG to whoever can take advantage of the situation and do some nice statpadding.
Alright folks, I've finally figured out how to save, watch, and upload a replay. Take a gander at this and tell me whether or not I'm justified in calling the guy who beats me a nincompoop.
I totally agree with you that it's incomprehensible PD doesn't make the cars available to purchase, when they're featured in a daily race. The obvious flaw and what makes the situation ridiculous is that the Nissan Sileighty '98 for whoever doesn't already have it, isn't available to buy and that car turns out to be the one to use.

Very, very true. I wish you hadn't gotten me started, though. The roulette system sucks big donkey ****s, as everyone knows. Why put parts in it for cars you don't even have? WTF use is that? (Did you know you can't chat "WTF" in the game? WTF is up with that?) And why can't you just purchase the engines you want? They talk about setting car prices based on the real world - if you want to base things on the real world, then playing a roulette machine in Vegas for parts doesn't come close. Especially when you can't even sit there and feed money into the machine until you get lucky - they decide when to even give you the roulette! GD it - now you've got me all riled up!! I better go (sim) drive so I can hit something or somebody until I feel better. To add insult to injury the fastest cars are those with engine swapped. So not only can't you but the car that's fastest you also have to win the engine on the roulette.
They can always rent one. Different livery won't make them faster, cars are bopped anyways.Same with the Alfa 155 when it's one of the metas in a Gr.4 race (which is almost all the time). Why should people (Daily Race newbies, of course) have to suffer just because they didn't realize they should've purchased the ugly POS when they had the chance?

The Sileighty being used isn't swapped, it's the default engine. So at the very least, that's not a concern. To add insult to injury the fastest cars are those with engine swapped. So not only can't you buy the car that's fastest you also have to win the engine on the roulette.
The guy in 6th place in that image is a loser. The Sileighty being used isn't swapped, it's the default engine. So at the very least, that's not a concern.
Thanks for all the words folks, managed P1-P2 global at the moment with the person who I made the tune with (and another in P9), I don't know if it's the strongest build possible or not but it's certainly doing the job.
It will go public at some point, though the others are asleep right now so I don't know exactly when.
Not so sure about that, I've heard he's a pretty cool guy, eh drives fast and doesn't afraid of anything. The guy in 6th place in that image is a loser.
Nice lap! I saw padrome in a lobby earlier, and saw that they had lot more downforce than I do... at least from the looks of it, since it looks like they can take 130R a lot more confidently than I can.
Same issue with the Legendary Cars too. I’ve noticed some cars are available to buy and then the following week they are removed from the dealership and are then used in that weeks daily races. The obvious flaw and what makes the situation ridiculous is that the Nissan Sileighty '98 for whoever doesn't already have it, isn't available to buy and that car turns out to be the one to use.

Thank you though! I've a few tenths left on the table down from my optimum but I'll leave it be for now. Downforce guess is probably right, I'm not sure what the other builds people are running have but we've tried for as much front aero as possible.
No.This week, should I not qualify to deliberately start at the back so the only way I can go is to improve?
Starting at the back or at the front doesn't matter, it's only your finishing position that affects DR. If improving that is your focus, start as far forward as possible for a better shot at a good result.Help needed! My DR to a beating in last weeks races where apart from one podium, in most races I had decent qualifying that put me in the top 6 but then during race, I’d be numbered out, crash out through my own pier driving or generally slip back through lack of competitive speed.
This week, should I not qualify to deliberately start at the back so the only way I can go is to improve? Any downsides to that (we’re taking lowly dR D lobbies here)?

Glad to see a 2:17...those top 10 times posted above demoralized me. I'm usually targeting to be within 2-3s of the top 10, so to be 6 seconds off had me worried.A lot of fun this lunchtime trying out my two already-tuned eligible cars for Race C.
The '02 Silvia, and the 180SX. Fiddling around a little bit with Exeter GT's tunes from his thread to better suit my driving style (and this circuit, holy hell the oversteer almost killed me).
Managed to get into the 2.17s with the latter, which is a good thing because I definitely prefer the drive.
I do have the Sileighty in my garage, so I'll be having a go in that one at some point but I haven't touched it yet so I'll wait until there's a selection of tunes 🙂
I'm not allowed to use the words I want to lolOneTwo criticisms: NO MUSIC! OK, I feel better now. Oh, one more thing - get rid of the playback progress bar. (By pressing the Circle button, in case anyone doesn't know that).
I had typed a different response, but I went back and re-read your comments. It sounds like he is an overly aggressive driver, and quite possibly a jerk. But "nincompoop" isn't the right word (to me at least) because it implies stupidity, yet he was doing it on purpose, so that's not a strong enough word.

Only your finishing position matters. It doesn't matter if you gained 10 places to finish third or if you start and finish third, the effect on your DR will be identical.
Thank you. I always assumed it was based on improvement. Good qualifying it is then, though one could argue that a poor qualifying time might put me into lobbies with poorer drivers where I have more chance at finishing top 6, whereas towards the end of last week, I was getting lobbies with DR C drivers and while I was finishing second fastest D driver, it was still bottom 6 positions as the C drivers took top spot.Starting at the back or at the front doesn't matter, it's only your finishing position that affects DR. If improving that is your focus, start as far forward as possible for a better shot at a good result.
One could, but one would be wrong. Qualifying time plays no role in matchmaking at all.one could argue that a poor qualifying time might put me into lobbies with poorer drivers
Wait - my liveries don't make my cars faster?!? That's sacrilege!! But yes, of course, you're right. Don't know what I was thinking there. They can always rent one. Different livery won't make them faster, cars are bopped anyways.
