I haven't played Sport Mode for more than a week so I jumped into Suzuka qualifying for a good 15 laps or so using my reliable GT500 Nismo, to get a feel and to see if the car felt any different since the BoP change, couldn't break into the 2.00s so quickly switched to another trusty vehicle in the '18 GT-R but only improved marginally. The time had arrived for the first race.

I stuck with the old school GT500 for the race itself as I was certain it was good on fuel so I could possibly gain in the pits that way. Ended up going from 12th to 11th by the chequered flag, with one DNF who lasted until the 17th lap so fair play to the rest of the grid for sticking to the race. Mostly incident free but one crazy guy held the fastest lap for nearly the whole race and then I found him without fuel crawling over the line right at the end. They was a slight issue with a back to front attempt by an Italian who was overly aggressive but I managed the race without any serious incidents.

All in all I'm happy with this setup for Race C bit I'm definitely feeling like I have to manage the amount of races and I might even try a different car each time.

The funniest thing is my roulette for the day was full of Group 3 cars and I ended up winning one which I didn't already own, the M6! I soon used it to wipe another tenth off my quali time for a 2.00.006, well within my reach of my expected time here.

So what you're saying is, there's an upside to everything, right?
I guess, but most of my day is spent playing GT7 now since GTS died. There's no downside to anything. Just gotta keep staying positive even when some of my races are brutal. I don't know why we have a choice of wet tires when I don't see any rain in the Spa race. I have been racing on Hards. I'm skipping the C races, 20 laps at Suzuka is way too much of a workout!!

My QT for Daily Race C - managed 1:58.833 in the McLaren. Mid 1:58 should be possible as my best Race lap is 1:59.1 but I would rather race more this week, God knows when we will get another extended Race C…

Speaking of races, did 3 more Race C this evening (which is too much for me) with a mixed bag of results.

Race 1 - Pole, stayed in 1st with 5s to 2nd by Lap 9. Made THREE (!!!!!) mistakes in Lap 10 and lost 27s and down to 9th, got pushed into the grass in turn 2-3-4 by a GTR and rage quitted

Race 2 - Gridded 4th with 3 A+ guys in front, got up to 2nd before doing a 360 by running a pixel too wide in 130R. Down to 8th and decided to go very long into 1st stint (Pitting at Lap 13) to try to overcut 4-5-6-7th as they were fighting. Did not work but still managed to finish 5th with people in front crashing in the last 2 laps.

Race 3 - Gridded 3rd with A+ guys in the race. Finished 2nd after a very close fight with the Merc in 3rd. Had a half spin at the exit of the chicane but managed to re pass the Merc when he did the same at Degner 2 at the next lap.

So how can I be more consistant? My race pace isn’t too bad (mid to low 2:00 in 1st stint with tyre saving and 1:59’s in 2nd stint) but obviously too error prone (Who makes mistakes while they are 5s ahead? 🤨) and this long extended daily race just magnifies that.

Yeah, I don't know why they offer wet tires when there's no rain. Doesn't make sense, so I just ignore them.

Makes my head spin just thinking about it.

I was looking forward to some Race C tonight all day at work. I didn't improve my time any, but I wasn't pushing for a new time and just getting my brake points in order.

I start in P7 and everyone survives lap 1. I go off in Degner 1 and drop to P10 or so. There was some incidental contact all race, but nothing too bad to cause any wrecks that from my vantage point. I do get rear-ended entering turn 1 and manage to not spin. The driver who hit me didn't pass me and off we went. They did apologize post-race so good on them. I pit on the end of lap 9 and basically run by myself the rest of the race. The field really spread out more than I thought it would. The driver I was chasing loses it in the triangle and I claim P7. By that point 5 drivers dropped out of the race. Around lap 18 I start to lose focus as I was ready for it to be over. I finish the race in P7 surprisingly only 22 seconds behind the leader.

Overall, a decent race from me for my first attempt. My trip off track and the few times I went deep in corners cost me time but that's on me. It reminds me of the GTWS races I've done on the past. As I mentioned, everyone was respectful when racing and I didn't see any retaliation for contact. I was impressed it was as clean as it was. I think that a 17 or 18 lap race would be the sweet spot for me. 20 laps are a bit too much in my opinion. It’s still cool we got a race this long for a daily race so I can’t complain too much.

Can I ask what BB are you using for quali and race?

I had to put R8 in the garage this week. It's costing me with all the mistakes I'm making and I went back to my trusty 650.

Of course I’m working 6 of 7 days the week they finally give us a proper daily C. When I eventually get back home Thursday, I’ll be going a few of these. How’s the tire wear for the tail-happy MR cars? Everyone in the streams and vids I’m watching have been using the METAS

+3 to the rear for both Quali and Race to get better rotation under braking. Almost overcooked it at T1 in that Quali lap though.

Me for one I hope the race b returns to normal next week with a gr3 offering! Spa is great and gr4 has really worked with it, but 3 laps no thanks, which is a shame but the track to just damn too long so I might try setting up a lobby doing 5 laps as the 650 has been a joy to drive around spa

Got home from work yesterday, looking forward to a long stint at Suzuka. Had to wait 45mins for the next race, so tested a few car options in quali. Started 8th worked my way up to 5th by lap 5, then slipped a place. Lap 6, I get shunted in the rear at Spoon deep into the sand just as I'd let off the brakes. By the time I get out the sand and away, I'm P12 of 13 with a 10 second gap to 11th. Thoroughly pee'd off I rage quit.
Decided to have a crack at Spa, but got a 2 sec penalty when the Mazda I was tailing for a good half a lap decided to drop the throttle exiting turn 9, as I was only 1/2 a length behind, giving him a boost and earning me a 2 second penalty. Extremely frustrated, I opted to abandon online, and completed Menu #50 - Jimny Cup, which was more fun!

Wow, beginning of this month I moved up to A/S and thought I will be rather at the end of the field, but not at Suzuka. Love this track and usually I am doing pretty well here.
Starting from P3, the guy from pole binned it in T1, so I was directly 2nd. For 9 laps I was literally bumper to bumper behind "Flash", sometimes even next to each other. Fantastic racing! Then he went into the pit and I stayed out for 2 more laps. Lap 11 I pit and come out just in front of him :-) Then it was another 9 laps of solid fast driving and here is my first ever win in A/S. Completely exhausted, racing this with the VR is so intense.

Longer races are so much more fun, you can really wait for the right moment etc. No need to do stupid moves. I really hope this experiment shows positive numbers for PD and we get this more often.

I’m using my Ferrari… I have no problem with tire wear or fuel… I just wish the Ferrari had more straight line speed.. I can only pull a 1.59 In qualifying.

Had another crack at Race C at lunchtime. Start 4th finished 4th, finished 4th. Was running 1st for a couple of periods, after mistakes by those ahead, Unfortunately I couldn't hold 1st and 2nd off, as they both had more pace and I started to lose concentration in the final few laps. 1st passed me fair and square, 2nd decided to come up the inside late at Spoon and push me wide, but luckily I as able to hold on the edge of the track. He described it as a "fair move, mate" post race. 3rd was lost on lap 19, though my own error running wide through 130R which resulted in a spin. Fortunately I only lost 1 place and was able to bring it home.
Overall it was good, but at the limit of my concentration window. Attrition rate was high, only 8 of 16 finished.

So my curiosity got the best of me in Daily C.
Had a bit of free time so thought why not give it one more go.

Race 1 - actually had some fun. Made an error dengna 1 and cost me 6 seconds and places, but managed to make my way back up to P9. Last lap I’m quicker than the BMW, and I get a run into spoon. The BMW first pushes me wide and blocks, and then I to Spoon I make a perfect overtake but the BMW didn’t like it so punts me. All for P8!! I mean seriously? Turns out other in the race had the same issue and called them dirty.

Race 2 - was just carnage. So many dirty drivers. I manage to avoid the most of it and was P5. Last few lap CimiVelocini (obviously a fan boy and just copies the real Kimi) just took me out at the hairpin. This cost me P5.

So annoying as I actually had fun today, but it gets ruined by 3/4 idiots every race that you can’t report and it’s making me right now just feeling like not bothering to race again.

I love both the Gr3 and Gr4 458, they handle so well, but they're definitely hampered on power by the BoP.

Yea I get stomped during the straights! I just wish they gave it a tad bit more power… I figured with the new Bop I could hang with the other GR.3 machines… but Nah😭😭😭

Love to know how I saved this slide, especially as I’m on that stupid astroturf stuff like is like glass.

If they is one thing I hate on GT7 is the astroturf at Suzuka, Spa, Interlagos and I’m sure they is a few others. In real life, non of these tracks have this and you can use the green paint. GT7 dip a wheel on it and your off the track.

yes what kind of material from hell is that? lol

Impressive save btw 👍

I got two more attempts at Race C in last night. They were in the 7 and 8PM EST slots of the Americas, both in the Porsche.

Race 1: Mixed lobby, B/Ss and A/As. Started in P11 with my 2:01.2 QT. Everything just seemed to work out for me in this one. I survived lap 1. I didn't make any serious blunders. When I hit traffic, within a lap or two the cars ahead would go into the sand and I'd have plenty of clean air ahead. Pitted for tires on lap 9. By lap 17, I was in P7 with a 5s gap ahead and 10s one behind. The car behind was way faster than me, though, and managed to catch me on the final lap. I was so impressed by their run, that I wasn't even bothered when they zipped past me at Spoon. Finished P8.

Race 2: All B/S lobby. Started in P10. It all started well enough. I survived the Esses and Degnas without incident, though 3 other drivers ahead were not so lucky, and I found myself in P7 out of Spoon. Everything was looking good. That came to an abrupt end when I followed the car ahead wide out of 130R, and punted them into the wall as their back end slid out while they trying to get back on the track. I waited up for them to get back on the track, but by then we were at the back of the pack. From there on out, it was a comedy of unforced errors on my part. As soon as I made some headway working up the field, I'd put the car in the sand somewhere and have to start all over again. I even managed to mess up my pit stop, forgetting to click the "Don't refuel" button and only noticing after the crew had unnecessarily loaded me up with a quarter tank. Rightfully finished dead last in P12 (4 drivers were DNF).

Yeah, this was my two races yesterday too. My own errors costing me dearly. A lot of time spent for two races that I botched all on my own...

First race I lost about 20-25 seconds due to off track excursions or just over-slowing because I missed a braking point in T1, or Spoon. Otherwise a clean race from all other parties.

Second race, I lost 25 seconds spinning out on the straight (yes, on the straight) leading up to 130R. I was in 6th on lap 4 or 5, went to bump draft the car in front of me and as soon as I touched him the car wiggled and I lost it. Ended up stopped, nose in the wall. I've never had that happen bump drafting before, it's not like I hit him hard or anything either; it was an appropriately soft tap. Just threw my hands up saying "how the hell did that even happen?" I must have been mis-aligned or maybe steering a little when I bumped him or something. Still, otherwise a clean race from all other parties, including a great battle trying (unsuccsessfully) to recover a top 10 for the last 5 laps.

Based on race times and my lost time, those errors took me from a potential 3rd to 9th in the first race, and potential 6th to 11th in the second race in a higher ranked lobby. Entirely unforced, no dirty drivers to blame, lol.

I did notice last night that the lobbies were way more evenly ranked, in terms of DR, than they normally are for a 11pm and midnight PST lobby in my experience. I often end up in races that are Mid B through A+, and even sometimes C through A+ at those times. I assume due to a thinned out player pool. But last night the 11pm was solid A 1-16, and midnight was half A, half A+. Maybe that is a good sign of the player pool for the new longer format?

Re: attrition on C

I wonder what percentage of quitters are the people who are the push to pass, or heck lets just pit them on a long straight, types. Kinda might feel like its a decent chunk of em, and if so i’ll gladly collect their dr. They have taken plenty of mine over the months. Enough so that ill pretty much never want to do a race B, with the sweaty cesspool, which is the lower B’s.

I did two races on c lobbies. Both ended with 13 cars on track. Do you think people at lower ratings just treasure their DR more?

In any case, bigger penalties should help lowering attrition rates.

It’s annoying as hell that stuff. Other racing games allow you use that run off. My automatic senses makes me want to use them, but I can’t.

I think it more down to people making more mistakes in lower lobbies you can catch up I think?

I noticed today that DR still split between half the players. So normally it would top 8 gain and lower 8 lose DR. But as the numbers quit the DR points split. 11 cars finished my last race and the top 6 got DR and the rest lost DR.

Did this change? I noticed the DNF were not showing as having their DR downgraded, but I assume they lose DR. If the DR penalties are being split like you say then the system is broken if you ask me.

It doesn't show the DR/SR arrows for DNF in the race finished screens.

The hit is big especially on SR for quitting though. I went from full SR S to just in to A with 3 consecutive quits (2 rage and one the door bell went :( )

i went from full SR S to SR B in one "quit" back on the GTWS race day where the lobby would hang in the "track preview cam" and never start the race for you. Sat there for 15 minutes and eventually power cycled my PS5 and went all the way from S to B when it updated lmao.
