GTP_uk86ze v GTP_Davey07-O37

uk86ze beat me to the first corner but I managed to stay with him the whole lap until the final straight. He then pitted and I tried to keep it cool for the next lap. I then pitted, but he seemed to get the jump on me after that. Next pit stop each out of the way and he then pulled out to around 10 secs..I got my head down then to try and close the gap for the rest of the race but to no avail. uk86ze was getting really close to the leaders on the last lap and I thought they may hold him up, but he held on to win by around 10 seconds. Great win for you there Matt. You beat me fair and square on the night. Well done and thoroughly deserved win. All the best to you in the next round....👍👍:):):gtpflag:

GTP_Hyperuk v GTP_JackStanley

Having raced eachother many times before, both of us went into the race knowing what to expect. That was to be very true. Nail biting stuff throughout the whole race.

The race started with Hyper in first, me in second. Running down into turn 1 and all is well. Both of us nervous and not taking Coca Cola 100%, hyper missing the apex and both of us not touching the rumble strip on the exit for fear of hitting the grass. The whole of the first lap was like this but the speed picked up as it got further in.

Lap 2 comes around and Hyper dives into the pits. I stay out and put a pretty solid lap together. Not bad Im thinking with all these nerves flying around me. Lap 3 and its my turn to pit. Driving down the pitstraight and I look behind. Seems like Ive made some time up on him, and I rejoin ahead. Hes sat on my tail for the lap and both of us pushing to the limit. The final corner comes and we both catch a Cilo. The Cilo dives to the right of the track, which cause me problems. I wanted to pit but we agreed not to us other cars slipstream. Hyper moves right as to pit at the same time as me. :ouch: I was thinking. I dive in and he carries on.

Hyper pits the lap after me and we rejoin neck and neck. Both meeting the apex of the corner at the same time. He takes the lead and we have a 5 lap race to the finish.

Not much happened until lap 7 when we come across a black Evo. Around 100r and braking for the left harpin. The Evo runs wide and cuts arcoss to both of are exit lines. He hits Hyper on the rear and luckily the Evo get a pen. Now 3 laps to go and we are 1st and 2nd. No one infront just a head to head race.

Over the next few laps the nerves build again. More mistakes slipping into each corner and the laptimes start to fall. Hyper leading most of it but there hasnt been more the .500 between us.

The last lap comes and he pops out of my slipstream to take the lead. Both driving like crazy around 100r hyper makes a mistake. I pull right and he stays left. Both brake early knowing that we want to be in 2nd for the drag to the line. I take the chance to go for it. All of the final corner are great and I think I have built up enough of a lead to hold him off. DAMN.... miss the apex and get a poor run out the final corner.....

It comes down to this.... A half mile drag to the line....

I pull to the right to break some slipstream, Hyper follows. Move back to the left and onto the racing line to try it again. Little time gained but it helped. I stay straight and my eyes fixed on the mirror. I can see the line coming and I think Ive pulled it off.....

Then Hyper seems to have hit the NOS button :nervous: He pulls out the slipstream and wins by around .030.

Congrats mate and you deserve the win. SixAxis couldnt hold you off. Looks like it may be time to spend the money on the Playseat and dig the G25 out.

Quick thanks to the GTP Race Admin team. EDK and all behind the scenes, great organisation. Hope the SixAxis comp would run as smooth as this. Brilliently done and will stay fixed to see the winners.

Jack

Think i can safely say for all us GTP'ers who either joined the race and parked up or those hanging on the every word we typed in GTP chat, a most entertaining and nail biting race

Nice race-review Jack!

Gongratulations to both of you... so small gap, that basicly there is two winners. Actually I was reading spectators live-news in chat when you were racing, and it must been very shocking race!

Me and Manuelos had our race too... we had no bumber-fight almost at all, because we had very different pit-tactics, and Manuelos caught one trouble-Clio when he suppose to do a gap between me. I met that same Clio too, but I had huge luck when he tried to take me out from track, he started to ghost just when he tried to ram me. Phiuh.

Big thanks to Manuelos, and I'm sorry you lost those seconds with that Clio.

GTP_Lemans vs. GTP_roomboter

After 2 in log failures, we had it going on the 3th time and GTP_Lemans was the host.

GTP_roomboter was second on the grid and had an slightly better start and came out on top after the first corner. GTP_Lemans went for the inside of Coca Cola to out brake me but there wasn’t room so he hit me slightly but we could continue. GTP_roomboter lead after the hairpin with nothing between us. When we were running to the chicane we came across 2 drifters that we had to avoid. Fortunately we did but when I turned in for Dunlop, I saw GTP_Lemans flying by in my rear mirror and becoming a ghost. From that moment on I knew I only had the bring my baby home. So the race was over by T2 of lap one. :grumpy: After the race GTP_Lemans told me that he was pushed off by one of the drifters. Shame that it had to end up like this.

GTP_Lemans thanks and hopefully better luck next time. 👍

congratulations for the great races you guys are doing... its exciting to read your comments about the races... nice

With 9 mins to spare and after 2 1/2hours of racing we have a result.

Gtp_mrgeez vs Gtp_mjh.

Win for MJH.

Thanks for the fair and fun racing mrgeez, it was a very enjoyable evening, despite the problems. And thanks to your T&L teams mates for sticking with us for so long to watch the races.

Matt.

Thanks, guys. I'm sure the story will come out when one of you has a chance. So you know, you had until TOMORROW night to be done. ;)

Damn, thought it was tonight. lol.

It was a night of multiple disconnects, either on the grid or a good way into the race and failed matchings. We did have 3 full races, but in the first two races i escaped penalties on 1 of my pit stops.

Matt.

Nice to see those vids Aki:tup:
And I think, even without that Clio, it would have been very difficult beating you. The lap times you were doing were constant .2/.3s faster than mine

Hey guys, it was awesome watching you. At first i saw Manuelos behind the clio, knowing that hed loose at least some time with that. Then Aki was behind the clio, and the next lap Aki was way behind that clio. I was afraid the clio punted him off! But as it appeared Aki went into the pitlane, so he didnt suffer any time.
Nice vids Aki, as usual 👍 I had recorded parts of races myself but i cant get the data from my SD-card to my PC. So that went to waste.

gtp_mr_geez vs gtp_mjh

Well, where should I start.. This 2,5 hour race was epic.. Unfortunately it was epic fail on my part..

The best analogy I can find at the moment is the heavyweight boxing fight between Floyd Patterson vs. Muhammad Ali in which G.O.A.T (to whom Floyd kept referring as Cassius Clay before the bout, bad mistake by old champion!!) could have finished it all in round 3 but kept it going until round 12 just to ask Patterson -"what's my name again? what's my name??"- between devastating punches in the head..I just felt like Floyd's head with every next lap and every next race.. That's how our "racing night" looked like.. I was just too slow on that sunday's evening..

I was getting slower and more inconsistent with every race which was completely opposite in Matt's case.. The fact that it dragged for so long because of all the problems (pitstop glitch, DC's, etc, etc..) was also anti-climatic.. In the end the better racer that day won fair and square.. Sorry Matt I didn't bring my best driving to the table yesterday and couldn't even keep it close enough, I don't want to look for some silly excuses so I just leave it at that..

I wish you all the best in next round.. Thanks for fair racing and congratulations on great progress in you driving skills in recent weeks!! 👍

cheers

I witnessed MJH vs mr geez several attempts to do this race, and all the problems from disconnects and "no-penalty" pits. My hat's off to MJH, great pace and consistency in each and everyone of them. Congratulations, wish you the best in future event races! 👍

mr geez, we all have our "off nights", that's life. Maybe we meet in future events, being last night in GT5P again, after many weeks of complete absence, made me miss playing it.

Also, congratulations to theewar. And all the best for the next stage!

Thanks for the kind words guys. As always, It was a pleasure driving with you mr geez and i'm sure if it had been another night we'd be telling a different story.

Me and Manuelos had 'centleman-rule' if pit-stop glitch happens to us... lift 5 second gas-pedal up, and then continue normally.

We had no need to use that, cause penalty system worked this time, but I feel everybody should rather use our 'centleman-rule', than doing race again.

Gongratulations to all competitors who are happy about their driving!

I bet it will be Daytona Road in the next round which of course is the same as automatic elimination for me. :ouch:

GTP_spyrrari1 vs GTP_MeAgainstYou

well after a few unfortunate electricall problems we managed to get our race together...

have to say that i am all day suffering from a problem with my wheel(Fuzzy knows what i am talking about...)wich is that the force feed back completaly disapeares after 1-2 laps...:ouch::ouch:

but this did not really affect our race...

i did my 2 pitstops in the first laps and MAY did them just after that, and we ended up side by side at the first corner...👍
than we overtook eachother several times at different places on the track and it whas verry intence and exiting...
last lap MAY maneged to get in front at the chicane and i followed closely, than in the last 2 corners i pushed just a little too hard and suffered from some understeer,we got through the last corner and MAY swerved to the right of the track after exiting the last corner, due to my understeer i couldn't get in his slipstream quickly enough,so at the finish line MAY won by 2 tents or so...👍:)

superrace my friend, and best of luck in the next round,

spyrrari.

nothing important to add spyrrari1.. well said 👍

fair/hot race..

ps: i really like the new rule (pits)... its a great add to the event and gives us a better understanding about our opponent :D great job organizers 👍

Congratulations (parabéns) MeAgainstYou! And also to spyrrari, it seems you guys had a great and close race to the end.

Wish you luck for next round! 👍

Congrats MeAgainstYou 👍 And to Spyrrari aswell. Both very quick racers!

GTP_EDK vs GTP_Synwraith - Division 2 Bronze

Once again I was lucky enough to land a moderator as a race partner, meaning that I had absolutely no doubts my partner would take the race seriously and organise the race meeting precisely. Just as my last race with Sjaak, we connected first time and got into our race with about 5 or 6 other cars.

The race started with Kevin (EDK) on pole, but I got a better start and led into turn 1. This was very important to my planned strategy as I wanted to be the first to do a pitstop. Kevin ran me pretty close in the first lap although I had opened up a gap in T1 and T2. He made almost all of that time back in the chicane where I feel he was strongest throughout the whole race. I ducked into the pits on Lap 1 and watched Kevin sail past.

By the time I came out I could just see him on the horizon. I managed a pretty decent out-lap and at the end of lap 2, Kevin pitted and came out behind. At this point I could start to see traffic and by the end of the 3rd lap I had caught them and there had been some evasive manoeuvers in the last corners. Kevin had closed the gap as a result and as I dived into the pit at the head of the mini-train, the backmarkers tried to draft me. This was pretty scary as you can imagine they're not expecting me to pit...all was alright though and I came out behind them.

Kevin then pit on Lap 5 as he saw a little queue we were coming up on. He came out, having both completed our stops, a little way behind, out of slipstream. I stupidly thought I was home and dry at this stage.

I caught a battling Clio and something else (can't recall) and the fun began. Bumps, slams, mad overtaking attempts by the other drivers....eventually resulting in the Clio clean driving me off the tarmac on the main straight. The gap to Kevin had disappeared and after another lap of these shenanigans with the backmarkers outbraking themselves into turn 1...Kevin was right behind at the start of lap 8.

At the end of lap 8, Kevin got my slipstream and went past into turn 1. I tried to repass into the chicane but overshot. I slammed on the brake, handbrake and shifted down to 1st gear and made a very lucky rescue, but Kevin was ahead. We were also closing down the 2nd place Clio. I managed to get tucked right up behind Kevin for the run down to the end of Lap 9 but he had the tow from the Clio. At one point we were 3-wide on the straight but Kevin had to duck back behind the Clio for more draft, and I was alongside so had to be very careful. I went for it into turn 1 and got both Kevin and the Clio, with Kevin also nailing the Clio.

So Lap 10. T1, I'm leading, pulling a small gap. T2 still in the lead with Kevin not close enough to make a move into the chicane. Again Kev closes in the chicane but I know if I don't NAIL the last 3 corners he'll draft me to the line and win....after the lead I had, after the good pitstops...that bloody Clio!

Last 3 corners...phew, nailed every single one, but Kev made a small error on the second-last corner and dropped out of slipstream. I came out of the last corner far enough ahead to win without the worry of a draft.

18 minutes of racing and I won by 1 second. Superbly close, we were very well-matched and any advantage I created Kevin fought and won back.

Ultimately I think traffic once again had a major effect on the race, and I have just about had enough of terrible Clio drivers who ram and foul.

If Kevin had won I wouldn't have been justified in feeling bad because he would have deserved it also. Very very close, my deepest comiserations to an excellent competitior who deserved more for all the hours of practise and skill he put into this event.

Anyone with any doubts as to the enthusiasm and dedication of the organisers of this event need not worry, we're all in safe hands. Great work Kevin and thank you for a memorable race 👍

All the best

Great writeup Maz! I was holding my breath while reading it! Congratulations to both of you for what was an excellent race!

And of course, all the best to your next race Maz! 👍

Great race review!

Very fun to read... I really could sense the spirit of your race.

Gongratulations to Synwraith, and again big thanks to EDK about all his huge job when organising this great competition.

Im not gonna bother with the right up of my race. Drafting a driver who is not in the race to win, bah!

Today I noticed again what racecar drivers mean, when they say something like:
When you see an opportunity you don't think, you just go for it.

no hard feelings Ren-Tec:tup:

Thanks Maz, for the excellent writeup. 👍

It was a great race we had, I think you were lapping a little quicker than I was today, and I'm just glad the traffic did not impact the outcome of the race. Hopefully everyone understands that neither Maz nor I made any intentional contact with other racers, but that one clio did give us a load of trouble and eventually ran himself off the track.

I need to stress to everyone that we have worked to employ realistic rules, but we do not intend to over-legislate.

The important thing is for both drivers to clearly understand the expectations going into the race. I was present for this race, and Sauber-F1 did not break any posted rule.

However, I know some racers have made gentleman's agreements to not draft other racers. Please know that this type of agreement is allowed, but impossible to monitor or legislate.

Finally, the details for week 3 are posted, please discuss!

Thanks to everyone for your enthusiastic participation in this event. 👍

 Well said, we would only have encouraged more brutality from them anyway...I do honestly wonder what they think, they attempt everything to derail us, do they even notice we are trying absolutely everything in our power and ability to not touch or hit them? Do they say to themselves "Hmm wonder why he didn't punt me there"?

I think it's a great idea to stick with the combo for one more week so as not to give any advantage to non-bye runners and almost start afresh when the class championships begin.

Excellent work again mate 👍

All the best
