same here. Having to fend off 1 BMW and have another Gtp driver in your mirrors would distract me.

A few of us have been experiencing a glitch in the pits today, just wondering what to do if this happens in your official race? I can only think to re-do the race, as re-addressing position could give away a lead you had earnt naturally and honestly.

I don't know if AutoAki or a1PAPAOSA noticed in that last race, but I gained huge amounts of time in the pits. For some reason it didn't give me a shortcut penalty.:odd: I was driving very lowsily until the last 3 laps.

Thanks about very nice races guys!

I had strange experience tonight... I did basic pit-stop, but did not get short-cut penalty. It was much faster visit in pit because that. I really need to analyze that from tape tomorrow. First time for me when doing legal pit-stop.

Edit: Hahaa... you made post when I was just wondering same thing! Very strange yes.

I've also had that this morning, In a race with GTP_Animera my second pit-stop didn't penalise me at all and I sailed through the pits at nearly top speed...

I agree, because I found my self easily leading after not being penalised and it was clearly an advantage.....:guilty:

Even though I did slow to regain the great battle we were in, I'm not sure if he realized what had just happened....:sly:

Here you have it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnPuaynFjMA

I have no explanation to this strange happening.

We have heard rumblings about it, but no direct evidence, until Aki's video. Which incidentally is from the same racer who had the suggestion to begin with. :P

We will need to discuss further before making a direct ruling on this. My sense is that it's a random and occasional occurrence. And that your suggestion may be the best. We'll confirm back soon. 👍

Commiserations and thanks to kart racer for some fun racing last night.

Sadly, being different regions we had to run the 3x3 lap variety race. There's a marked difference in driving styles and abilities between the intermediate and pro events!

After initial problems hooking up we started race one with a rather scrappy start (for anyone else who finds themselves in a rolling start I'd recommend a +45 sec interval). KR led around the first lap and we were side by side down the start/finish straight. I managed to be ahead into turn one and held on for the win.

Race two was a slightly different affair - I got a great start off the line, and coaxed her round for 3 laps to take the win with KR never out of my mirrors.

Hats off to KR - it's a shame we couldn't have had a longer race together, but even so, I still find it remarkable that I'm able to race against someone on the other side of the Atlantic. Fantastic.

Good racing everyone.

Cheers.

How did you decide who started on poll? i am racing my partner tonight, i am running a PAL version and he an NTSC so we have no choice but to race the three lapper.

Congrates Twisted and good luck in the coming events. It was fun last night. 👍

Check your pairing in the first post. The name on the left gets pole.

Congrats on your win, and thanks for the writeup. Sorry about needing to put you in the Intermediate event, I know with fewer laps, lower quality racers, and RBE, a little more is left to chance.

I'll also look at the start timing and keep that in mind for any events that we have a rolling start.

I own a PAL disk, and I agree. It's really neat to be racing with people from all over the world. 👍

Thanks for helping out. I'm sure it was a mistake, but please avoid double posting (2 consecutive posts without any in between). Just edit your original post. I've merged your 2 posts into 1. 👍

Tough luck on not making the finals this go around, you were very competitive in event 01. Seems Linpark is the only racer remaining from the late rounds of that event, and all of the finalists are already out.

Most of all, I hope everyone is having fun with this, I know I am. :dopey:

Ok thanks mate.

Edit. My parter's name is on the left so does that mean he gets poll in all three races?

That's correct. Keep in mind, the pole does not offer a substantial advantage, in my experience. It's possible to maintain the inside line with significant overlap on the opposing driver when entering turn one. Being in that position gives you the right to the inside of the track, which would allow you to exit the turn in the lead. I started on the pole in my race, and promptly lost the lead in turn 1, just as I've described.

@Steve01965

As far as I interpret the rules, yes.

LOL it as been recommended by others who have had to do the 3x3 event to start at 45 seconds after race start, what do you think about this?

Edit. thanks Kev for your reply.

TO: Steve,

good luck mate 👍

i have to race tonight as well

If you can mutually agree to a different start time, I'm OK with that. If for some reason it makes it so you are unable to complete your race, the winner will be the driver in the lead when the timer hits zero.

I was asleep at the switch on the 2nd race. Missed the start time by about 1 sec. Oh well. Watch out next time.:)

There's a ton of traffic out there this afternoon at the intermediate 650pp Fuji event, this should be interesting.

Flipping back and forth between some practice races and the Camping 300 Nascar race at Daytona this afternoon... hard to tell the difference. :nervous:

Quick question. Right, the driver infront pulls to the right for his pitstop, is the person behind him allowed to follow him to get slipstream ?

True mate it is very busy, i just done a practise start, waited 45 seconds and still caught up with some back markers, finished with six seconds to spare in 7th place.

GTP_Animera vs GTP_Mav3r1ck 09.20 GMT

We met up at the decided time, and Animera was host so we knew that there was no chance of being disconnected. From the start Mav3r1ck took the lead into T1 with Animera close behind, and so it was the whole of lap 1. At the end of lap 1 Animera saw that Mav3r1ck was not going to pit and decided to do his first pitstop. Mav3rick saw this as an opportunity to get in a monster lap and try build a gap, but made a mistake and almost spun off, a mistake that allowed Animera to catch and pass him when he made his first pitstop. After that Mav3r1ck was pushing hard to try catch up and made a few small mistakes, and that is how it remained till the end of the race, Animera winning the race.

We were luck to only have 5 entrants in our race and so traffic did not play a big part.

Thanks Mav3r1ck for the race.

Sadly for me - that's about the size of it.

Congrats to Animera for the win - and best of luck in the next round.

Im off to burn my copy of GT5:P and get very drunk

Cheers

GTP_Steve01965 and I squared off this afternoon for our best 2-out-of-3 Intermediate series. There's of course no expert world event unfortunately, though I doubt it would've mattered any as I folded like a lawn chair.

I jumped the gun on our first race by 3 and change seconds, not sure why. I left the inside open and watched as Steve pulled away from me out of the first corner, powering through the inside with speed and completely dusting me through 100R and the Hairpin. From about 3 or 4 seconds back throughout the rest of the drive, I huffed fumes. I could hear his engine at Dunlop and pretty much all through Panasonic, but as soon as he hit the gas on the front for the first time I knew it was over; Coupled with his accurate cornering throughout the swerves, there was absolutely no chance of me catching Steve there. Or anywhere. Nice setup. You managed 7th out of 11th starting beind -0:45'.xxx in that first one. 👍 I pulled up 11th :dunce:

I didn't fowl my second start attempt from a penalty perspective, but I fowled it for speed and forced myself to try and catch up again. I was a few degrees hotter during the second race, pulling a particularly good drift on lap 2 at Panasonic, and also driving what I thought was a very quick rip through T3 on lap 3, but there was no way I was catching him. I saw some smoke here or there, but I wasn't anywhere in range of a pass attempt during any of those instances, or ever for that matter.

Being a good guy, he offered to race a third time to see if I could get something going for leavings and laughter, but we both opted out after a couple of failed attempts.

You've something else to celebrate along with the Wales victory now

Congratulations and good luck in the next round. 👍

GTP_SteveO1965 vs GTP_d3br34k5.

Due to the fact that we were using different formats (PAL vs NTSC) we had to race at the intermediate 650 Fuji race.

Race one, we decided to wait for 45 seconds, at the start Derek (GTP_d3br34k5) jumped the start by around a second, he realised this mistake and backed off, this gave me a slight advantage and i took the inside line into turn one and took the lead, we stayed in these positions for most of the race roughly one to two seconds apart.

On lap three turn three we came across the tail end of the pack and boy they were dirty, i managed to pass then relatively OK but i think Derek may have had problems as i no longer saw him in my rear view mirror, i finished in 7th place and Derek in 11th, i think he may have had a problem with a punter towards the end of the race?

Race two.

We both started at 45 seconds after the start, i again took the inside line for turn one, i believe that starting second on the grid is an advantage at this race, i had a lead of in between one to two seconds all the way through the race, we did not encounter back markers in this race and finished with me in 11th and Derek in 12th.

Race three.

We tried twice to join but both failed to get into the same race, we agreed mutually that because i had won the first two races that we would call it a night, Derek it was great racing with you mate and i hope to meet you on the track again.

All the best.

Steve.

Edit.

Just saw youre right up Derek, thank you for be a Gentleman on and off the track, going to get really drunk now celebrating Wales beating England.

I kind of offed myself trying to go around one of them at Panasonic and the next thing I knew, you were already on the straight. You were well enough ahead that there was no negative impact from encountering the pack, I had already lost the race by that point and managed my way around cleanly enough after overcooking it there.

Have one for me.

GTP_Tzayad could probably do a better write up, but I'll put mine forth anyway.:)

GTP_Tzayad vs GTP_Paulie
This was actually my first race in the event after some unfortunate events in week 1. I got the slightly better start off the grid starting from P2, and managed to slip up the inside at turn 1. Lap 1 was pretty much me making mistakes at every corner from nerves and only holding up Tzayad. I darted into the pits at the end of lap 1.........and didn't get a penalty!:irked: For lap 2 then, without Tzayad hounding me my nerves settled and I started to settle into a rhythm. I think Tzayad then pitted on lap 2 and because of my penalty-less pit stop I got back out in front with a couple seconds lead. Again though, on lap 3 I was getting a little nervous, and in addition to the fact that Tzayad is a faster racer he was less than a second behind by the end of lap 3. Again I darted into the pits (with a penalty this time). Laps 4 and 5 were just cruising around the track until Tzayad went into the pits again for the final pit of the race at the end of lap 5 and came out hot on my tail again. By this time my nerves were settled and we duked it out for laps 6, 7 and 8, only managing to make clean passes on the straight. On lap 9 though while following Tzayad at turn 2 I broke a little too late and lost considerable ground. I made it back up by slipstreaming the straight on lap 10 and followed withing tenths of a second for all of lap 10. Then, in sector 3 Tzayad managed to pull a gap on me (he's good I tell ya :sly:) and I wasn't able to catch him again on the final straight. Even if I did though, I would have conceded the race for the penalty-less pit stop.

Congratulations GTP_Tzayad, you raced extremely well and very fast.

GTP_Cohiba100 vs GTP_a1PAPAOSA

The race was scheduled for 8:47 GMT and we managed to hook up at the first try. Got three laps in before the host decided to DC. New try and this time I was host and beside the contestants there was only one other racer who did not trouble any of us during the race. Off with me in the lead for the first lap and GTP_a1PAPAOSA on my rear bumber. Both racers wanted to get the pit stops in early so by lap five it was a race to the flag without any interference. After the pitstops the battle was closely fought the whole race through with none of the racers having a lead larger than a second or so at any time and leadchanges more or less every lap. I slipstreamed into the lead going into the last lap and held it through the chicane after which GTP_a1PAPAOSA unfortunately managed to get himself a shortcut penalty. After that it was just cruising for the line for me.

I am not altogether certain that he would have been able to catch me before the line even without the penalty but I am certain that had not GTP_a1PAPAOSA been a little too hot on the accelerator a few times when exiting corners then the race would have had another winner. I raced a good race and won with 3 seconds over a competitor who on the day was a bit off his best.

Edit: Enough of the M3 at Fuji for me for quite a while now.

Congrat's to GTP_Cohiba100,

Who deservadly Won, and in a well paired race has been the driver that was the best on the 'day' and so.....

Good luck in future rounds /Craig :)
