Just to add my two penneth.
We are extremely lucky to have people like EDK on our forum, who willingly give up their time to organise events for the rest of us to participate in.
EDK embarked on an ambitious course, in order to give us something a little different to try out.
I say ambitious, because without a private room to compete in, there were always going to be outside influences beyond control. Nevertheless, he gave it to us anyway.
My hat goes off to him - he has instigated an event which rivals the interest created by the IFTC. No mean feat.
I've enjoyed taking part in this event, and I've enjoyed meeting up with guys who are not normally "in my circle". That can only be good for this community.
I personally don't have a problem with the decisions made, and I think I speak for the majority.
Of over 100 entrants, there have only been two who expressed any disagreement.
A suggesion for those who are not happy;
You organise the next one.
And put my name down for it.

Well, being a non-participant in the event (but, as a spectator, very interested in it) I feel I need to say two more things:

1 - Timpaq is not only a great racer, he is also a great guy and I fully understand that he requested to race and not be "given" direct access to the finals in his D1 Gold class.

2 - MAY is also a great racer and a great guy by not objecting to this.

3 - In my opinion, you took the right decision, and you took it the way you should, meaning, with full and previous consent (sp?) of all drivers concerned.

Great job you're doing in this EDK, keep it up.

👍

+1

Couldnt agree more Duke. EDK was in a no win situation I think. If Timppaq had reached the final without racing and won (and Im not sure people will own up to this now), they would have complained because he hadnt raced at all. Its not a small achievement beating a guy like him, so top marks to spyrrari for winning and for timo wanting to race not just having one in the final.

This is one of the best forums I have the privelage of being a member of, and the Admins and race mods are doing a great job all round. All the best to everyone left in the competition and heres to a great futute of Gran Turismo online racing....👍👍 :):gtpflag:....

Agree, EDK as done great work in running this event smoothly and even though i may rib Timo about his talent, he's a gent when it comes to racing, i wonder how many others in his position would be prepared to throw the chance of racing in the final by giving a second chance to someone, just so he could race in the final knowing he competed in one heat

Here are my $0.02 of thought on the fuzzy subject.

$0.01
If it weren't for great guys like Kevin, Jerry, Sjaak, Bert, Jamie and the likes this forum would be dead as a ... (don't know the proper brit expression). They volunteer their time and wisdom to make our racing life happier.

$0.02
I wish ALL would recognise the above, and let those have trust and respect for the decisions they make in the course of stuff like off- and online tournaments.

That said, I hope Fuzzy is still welcome to partake in all GTP events.

Thanks to everyone, for your strong support of GTP_Race Event 02. 👍

Regarding Division 1 Gold, we are taking one last shot at making all of this right.

This decision is now final, and has been agreed to by all 4 of the D1 Gold Participants.

We are going to start the tournament over again for D1 Gold. The following D1 Gold drivers entered the event, did not withdraw, and were not disqualified

Division 1 Gold

GTP_MeAgainstYou
GTP_PrudentBear
GTP_spyrrari1
GTP_Timppaq

The random pairings for these drivers will be as follows -

  • GTP_Timppaq v GTP_PrudentBear
  • GTP_spyrrari1 v GTP_MeAgainstYou
Both pairings will run their race before the week 3 deadline.

The winners of these 2 races will meet in the Class Championships, at the same time as all other classes.

We are handling this as if no races had ever occurred in D1 gold. Any prior races are considered null, void and irrelevant.

If any registry member has any issues regarding this decision, please feel free to contact me, or any of the other GTP Race Admins, via PM.

Thanks again for your support of the event.

Well that's fantastic move I think!

I really liked to be spectating those magnificent battles. It's pity that there was so many participate changes in Div1, but I think this makes everything very right now.

If tickets for these races were to be sold they'd cost dearly.

Thanks for that. I like the alliteration and prefer the dodo :)

Very sportsman like to all 4 of you guys to re-draw div 1 gold.

Don’t get me wrong but we must be careful that we don’t get to lovable to each other. This is still a man’s sport. ;)

👍 for the organization. Respect to all of you guys 👍

Well done to everyone who's got through so far. My runs over but will keep updating my excel results and entrants table though...Here is week 3.....:):)

Excellent resource Dave 👍

Obviously the new D1 gold arrangement will change things a little, also GTP_Cohiba is D2 silver not bronze.

Love it mate, keep it up, look forward to the next installment and I just hope I'm still in it!! ;)

All the best

Division 3 Silver
Race between GTP_Animera and GTP_DukeOfPendle

Animera started on pole and got away to an early lead, soon pulling away by approx 3 seconds, which remained constant until the end of the lap - Animera taking his first pitstop.
I held the lead until end of lap 2, when I dived in for my first pit. On exiting the pit, my brain was in neutral as I strayed the wrong side of the white line.
I carried on driving, wondering what to do.
Should I pull over and just retire?
Should I carry on and stop before the end?
In my mind I was disqualified - Animeras race, and it was only lap3.
In the end I decided to carry on and stop before the end if I was leading.

No need to worry - Animera set a pace which I couldn't match, and took a well deserved victory.

Congratulations on your win Ian 👍
I wish you luck with your progress through the competition.

Nicely written Duke of Pendle, and thank you for your honesty.
Well done for getting so far into the competition and thank you for the race.

Very cool Dave, I guess we'll wait and see how D1 gold pans out before you change that section huh?

I'm also itching for the next round of races :)

GTP_spyrrari1 vs GTP_MeAgainstYou

Here's my vision of the race:

i was 2nd on the grid but i wanted to be in the lead on the 1st lap to pit 1st.. so.. 30secs and go! i made a good start.. so i went to 1st corner from the inside to overtake him, he's a bit wide but he got more speed and on the 2nd turn he's 1st.. i followed him until the chicane and passed him there! he gave me a little bump from behind and he lost a bit there...i pitted! he made it too just after me and i was in front with a little gap (not enough for him to catch the slipstream)

then, in 3rd lap, i saw a lot of cars up ahead but i didnt wanted to pit again because i wanted to be in charge of the pit operations.. i saw in the mirror that spyrrari was going to pit... and i thought thats my chance to push it! but i was afraid that the cars ahead of me could make a bad move on me but i went for it! i passed them with some touchs... (i almost lose it with a spun in the hairpins because one of them).. then i saw a clean track for me!

was able to do good average lap times.. then, in lap 6(i think) i came across a clio in the hairpins again... :nervous: i was just behind him on the left corner before the last right.. he went wide and i make my move to the inside of the corner... then i saw him come to me cutting and bumped me to the grass inside of the corner. i was lucky to didnt get a penalty and he was in spins... i thought OMG! i just won my day there.. lucky luck

the gap was the same after that issues (1 pit through and +/- 1 second) pretty similar handling by both! 👍

then i went well until lap 9 and made my best lap! aproaching my turn to pit... the gap was almost the same... i pitted! and made a bad 1st corner so spyrrari gain a bit there and he was on the limit catching the slipstream! i thought that if i can make a normal lap the victory is mine... but i was more nervous and didnt manage the corners in the best way.. i think he didnt too because he didnt gain to much on me...

and thats it .. I went to the last straight ahead with gap and won! :)

was a very exciting race.. even more (at least for me) then the 1st because i knew that spyrrari was confident due his victory against Timppaq.. and ofcourse he wanted the revenge! :dopey:

Thanks for the good racing spyrrari... top races man 👍

ps: sorry for the english as im not native! :ouch:

Excellent write-up, I was getting updates from Racer_LP in the chat and it sounded epic.

Well done to you D1 gold guys for rescheduling the races and running them in good spirit 👍

All the best
Maz

thanks for the good write up MAY...👍

my vision:i had the most horrible day at work and whas totally p-off and angry when i came home...i even thought of withdrawing, but i ain't no looser so i decided to go forth with our planned race anyway...

i made a huge mistake on lap 4 at turn 3..and lost a few seconds...this whas the end of the race for me because i knew i would only have a chance of winning if MAY would make a mistake further on in the race ,but he didn't...

so,top race from MAY,superbad day for me...

goodluck in the final MAY,well done and seeyou in the beginning of march when i am back from my trip...👍👍👍

spyrrari.(who just had the biggest fight with his boss on the phone ever....:scared:)

Thanks again for being such great sports, guys.

You do the GTP_Tag proud, by being fast , clean, fair and courteous drivers. 👍

I can't wait to see what happens in Timppaq v PrudentBear.

going away tomorrow for 9 days ,so wanted to wish everybody who still have to race good luck!!!!...

will check the site as often as possible to see whats happening...

later mates,

spyrrari.

Well, the Division Three double feature has been completed

The first race was:

GTP_uk86ze vs. GTP_aussienicko

GTP_aussienicko was victorious!

The second race was:

GTP_Tzayad vs. GTP_aussienicko

The race turned out to be much closer than I had expected, after running several practice sessions with GTP_aussienicko in the pack. Many spectators were present who can attest to the power struggle that extended through the entire race. Our pitting strategy ended with us being neck and neck after half of the laps, which was probably the wrong pit strategy on my part. Throughout the next five or six laps, we each managed to peg ourselves the perfect distance away from each other to make free driving an unfortunate impossibility, constantly making input changes based on where the other driver was. The laps go by, and the only passing occurs on the front straight. The draft was never lost by either racer, with some front-straight-drafts more intense than others. In the end, GTP_aussienicko was able to grapple within my draft for the last sector of the last lap, and overtake me - winning by five hundredths of a second. It was not my best performance, and the circumstances of the race were very frustrating, but it was a fair race. I learned a lot from this race, and hope to use some new found wisdom in future GTP events.

It was a wonderful race, a great example of close lap after lap battling. Cheers to GTP_aussienicko for putting up a great fight - a greater fight than I did, unfortunately. I wish this gentleman luck in the future rounds, and I look forward to ridding myself of this stupid ****-o-meter-breaking piece of bavarian elitism. Vorsprung Durch Technik. Finally I can spend some time back in WRS and the other excellent events out there.

A gargantuan thanks to EDK and the rest of the almighty OLR moderators, for whom without their leadership and wisdom this event would have been an absolute pile of unorganized poo. Also congratulations to those racers who had success with the Garage TZT M3 tune. Although in the end I myself abandoned the tune, I was thrilled to have heard sagas of success from many a racer who wielded the TZT tune.

I'd also like to take this opportunity, since I think I have your attention, of some of my observations from within the event. First, I absolutely adore the pit stop rule. It honestly increases the amount of strategy in the event ten-fold, and is not merely a way to escape the fate of the south-west European armada of drunken wheelmen. Second, and more crucially, and I don't want to start a war or anything, but those of you in divisions one and two who do actively participate in the GTP events, you need to go grab more of your members and drag them to these events. I think there are many people in the registry - in those divisions specifically, who are AWOL. Since the size of the divisions is kept in check by the spread of initial registry members, the quantity of racers in the GTP Event from the divisions is enormously misrepresented and lopsided, causing inherent elimination ladder scheduling issues.

My suggestion is three-fold - meaning I have three separate ideas.

Idea 1: Run qualifying runs for only the GTP Event entrants. Pair up racers based on event qualifier times, not divisions.

Idea 2: Create a new installation of the GTP Registry qualifier before each Official GTP Event. Restrict entrants to the Event to those racers who complete the qualifier. This way, the division sizes more closely match the spread of the racers - leading to more even division sizes.

Idea 3: Don't run any new qualifiers, GTP Registry nor GTP Event, and pair entrants based loosely on division and class.

The downsides to these ideas are that to have a division and class winner makes no sense, increased work for moderators. The first idea may be subject to a large sandbagging problem, and the third might cause some imbalance. I would be more than thrilled to work on these changes, and discuss them with the moderators. And yes, I would like to put in the extra work needed if be.

Alright, I'm sick of typing. And you are probably sick of reading. Congratulations again to GTP_aussienicko, and good luck to everyone in their future races.

Tzayad - Out

Hard luck Adam mate, I had you absolutely pegged for the Division 3 title as well as having a seriously good run at beating the overall Div 2 winner as well. It's my belief you should be at the top of Div 2 or Div 1 bronze even, and your 1'42 laptimes are proof of that.

But then I have seen Aussienicko's WRS times and general laptimes around the forum, and I believe he too is in the wrong division. This was probably a closely matched D1 bronze battle taking place in D3. Had either of you not been in D3, the other would be champion.

Well done to both of you for what sounded like a classic and clean battle, the kind that keeps us coming back for more.

Congratulations to Aussienicko 👍 All eyes on you for D3 :)

All the best
Maz

Well done to everyone who got through so far and commiserations to those who didnt. Heres my updated table, for now.(the double feature race results for division 3 were a bit tricky to do).....:)👍
