I have a G25 and use my right foot for both gas and brake so I can't left foot brake :(. Do you guys think its any faster to left foot brake or dependent upon how you drive? Would it be worth getting a DFGT especially since I can't use the clutch anyway???

Jerome

Left foot braking and the other thing I described helps with finessing lots of situations. My guess is that once you got the hang of it you'd be faster since the whole experience would be smoother but you'd have to change your driving style to get the most out of it.

If you don't use the clutch then my not give it a try on the G25 - that's what I use.

Doesn't necessarily matter if I'm right or wrong in how GT5P impliments LFBing... even if I'm right (and I'm beginning to doubt I am!) it's still quicker to use your left foot to brake and your right for throttle... you immediately save all the split seconds it takes you to move your foot from one pedal to the other when you're using right foot for both pedals.

The thing that made me wonder was that I do the 'opposite' move all the time in the GT and my revs are definitely going up whilst the brake pedal is still down. If what you said was true then I'd get no throttle and that would send me off the road in places like the entry to T1 and Spoon.

The most obvious place I can think of where you can tell that the throttle and brake both work at the same time is Daytona road turn one. The only way I can get into turn one in a MR car is to keep the throttle partly on while braking. If I lift completely going into that corner I go straight into the spin cycle.

Okay, it's official*, I just tried this out and I could defo work both pedals at the same time. I started playing about with the controls and watching the red and white input indicators at the bottom of the screen. Each one was working completely independent of the other, I could get both indicators in the middle or both t 70% or one at half and the other at 20% or... You get the picture.

*if you believe I'm not making the whole thing up or hallucinating or something

Sorry to chime in late on this one - just got in.
You can do a mega rolling burnout with the AM 'vette.
Set front brakes to 10, and rear to 0.
Stomp on brake pedal, then give it full gas. Loadsa wheelspin and smoke - sill pushing car forward with front wheels locked. 👍

Wierd, if you can't left foot brake on G25 then a DFGT won't be any different apart from you'd have to put up with plastic pedals.

I thought the DFGT had the same DFP pedals that were spaced apart? The way my setup is with my wheel I can't reach the brake with my left foot cause of a bar in the middle...but...I may just need to move the pedal plate more to the left if possible. But yea plastic pedals still? No thx then, thx for the heads up there and thanks for the responses all, and you definitely have a point Stotty about the split seconds between gas and brake. You can see what I'm talking about here.

Interesting discussion regarding driving styles. In the little time I had for the first time ever racing with a wheel last month(on GT5P at a local Fry's), I've adapted quite quickly to it and also have had to learn to be smooth, something I usually don't do as a DS2 racer.

Oh now I see, yeah that bar could be a problem. I'm sure you'll work something ingenious out

Nice setup Jerome 👍 ...I like the shoes :P

I find left foot braking can help keep the car balanced when cornering without losing too much speed. You should give it a try, I've viewed a few top 10 replays already, and they always seem to use it at some point or another.

I thought this thread was meant to discuss Registry related topics, but now all I read is stuff about wheels & pedals. Can this discussion be moved to the appropriate place in GTP, please guys? :sly:
Thanks a bunch 👍

Well he did say that the current qualifier was too easy...

TOO EASY!!!! Holy Moly!!! Go ahead and demote me to Div 5 pronto. That qualifer could only be deemed easy if you are an expert at driving the F430 on Suzuka which basically means you are an expert driver in general. I hope to never see the F430 in an event again. :)

What's scary for me is that I see some guys in my Div that were mentioned in the "fastest driver" thread numerous times. How the heck did that happen?

I'm only really good at driving the F430 when it's fitted with racing tyres, obviously it makes all the difference and it's my favourite car (that I've experienced so far) in GT5:P, I just love driving it. It's the less grippy tyres which mess it up for me, and the thought of N1 tyres just make me cry. :nervous:

I hate being the exception to rules like this :grumpy:

Right I'm sorry If you got offended by that ? People worry too much some time, they should'nt be too downhearted about stuff and believe in themselves 👍

It's physically impossible to offend me.

People have actually given themselves embolisms trying.

I started out using right foot for both and switched because I believe it does give you some speed advantage when going fast on and off the throttle/brake. There are also occasions where using both will allow the car to rotate better around it's center.

I agree that the pedals aren't much good on the DF-GT but the wheel is better than the G25 wheel. Do what I did, just keep the G25 pedals and replace the wheel. No soldering required, you just have to unplug the wiring harness from the DF-GT pedals and plug it onto the G25 pedals.

Unlike the DF-GT/DFP pedals the G25 pedals are self contained assemblies and mount with six screws in each pedal. They can be taken out of the plastic shell and bolted wherever you want. I used that trick to give me a bit more space between brake/throttle and move the clutch out of the way (since I don't use it).
