Bart, nice video. If it is close at the end, being in 2 nd looks to be the spot for the dash to the finish.

Bring your A game to qualifying today gents... given the registration numbers it looks like only the top 15 are going to make the "show" tomorrow. In other words, unless we get at least one additional sign up (and assuming the reserves decide to race) we won't have enough drivers to split into two rooms.
  • The top 15 from Q1 will get a guaranteed grid spot for the Grand Prix.
  • The top 12 from Q1 will advance to Q2.
  • The top 6 drivers from Q2 will advance to Q3 and compete for the front 3 rows and pole position.

There are no pre-qualifiers this round so it's all based on performance today.

Any drivers that do not make the top 15 will serve as reserves for the GP and will get a grid spot based on fast lap in Q1 if any drivers cancel or do not show up on time. Any driver not in the lounge 5 minutes before the race start will lose their spot to a reserve.

PS> Remember, draft assisting is not allowed during qualification. There are times when it's impossible to completely avoid it so in those situations just try to minimize it by avoiding driving directly behind the other car. Since we are splitting across two lounges for Q1 (9+8) there should be enough track to keep spread out. Q2 will get a bit more cramped with 12 on track.

Guys, I'm really sorry can't make it tonight, will see you tomorrow on race time, really sorry for the late notice...

Oh, just saw the new post now, that means I'm reserved fire tomorrow ?

It wasn't just the new post... these have been the rules since the first GP at Monaco and two guys had to sit out that one on reserve because we ended up with just 17 drivers.

If you don't make qualification today and we don't get enough drivers to split into two rooms, yes that means you'll be on reserve for the GP.

You still have time to make a pre-qualifying run to see if that time would put you in the top 15. You must do that before the knockout qualification starts however. Meaning in the next couple hours.

PS> Also, if any driver's status changes, please update the registration as well as post in this thread so the registration table reflects the update. I'll go ahead and put Vampire as cancelled for quali, but it would be appreciated if drivers kept their status updated themselves.

PPS> One more cancel and we'll run Q1 in a single lounge.

It's pretty clearly stated in the OP:

Live Knockout Qualifying

Saturday, September 7, 2013

3:00 PM Pacific | 6:00 PM Eastern | 22:00 GMT | Local

The lounge will be open about 45-60 minutes prior to the start and will be announced here in the thread when ready. We don't wait for anyone, so be sure to show up early... if a driver is late they can run whatever time is left in Q1, but don't expect us to wait for anybody to start the 20 minute countdown (right Loris!).

Here is the link for the live stream for quali:

OK, I'm away until just before qualifying begins. Any issues until then will be handled by Gravitron and/or Hasslemoff. Check the registration image for your lounge assignment for Q1 and please report to that lounge only to avoid last minute shuffling. I'll join the main lounge about 15-20 minutes prior to the start of Q1 assuming I don't hit any speed bumps. As with anyone, if I'm not there, don't wait for me. :sly:

Main lounge is open for you early birds. Ill open the B lounge around an hour before the Quali starts.

Also I've got no mic so if you have any questions please ask in here or in the lounge before qualifying starts thanks.

Rocket... with Vampire back in you can join the main lounge.

Stream is now live, you can find it on youtube via links in OP or watch it right here:

Spurgy, it looks like you are getting DC'd over and over. Can you try to join the B room just for Q1 and see if you can stay in there?

I think my chances of getting in there are just as likely but I'll try

Edit, didn't work

We've started, but if you can get in by Q1 go ahead and run as many laps as you can.

Well at least I get to race tomorrow, shame I couldn't even get one lap in Q2 :/

What happened? You normally havn't got a problem from what I have seen?

Great fun today guys. The transfer positions in both rounds 1 and 2 were very close!

Here are the overall qualification results:

Notes:
  • Gravitron has cancelled for the GP so the top 16 shown above (thru Lefty) have guaranteed grid spots in the GP tomorrow.
  • Vampire is the first (and only) reserve. If there are any cancellations (or if anyone is late) he will get the vacated grid spot.
  • Spurgy DC'd and didn't get to complete a lap in Q2 so will start 12th in front of all of those that were eliminated in Q1.

Here are the round by round results for knockout quali:

20130907_quali_round1.png
20130907_quali_round2.png
20130907_quali_round3.png

Observations:
  • The Q1 elimination gap (from 12th to 13th) was only 0.043
  • The Q2 elimination gap (from 6th to 7th) was only 0.062
  • The fastest lap of the day was 1'20.343 by Immortal in Q1

My connection has been really bad over the past few days, no idea why, I managed to get it stable about 2 hours before the start, but with 20 minutes to go it went again, don't even know if it will be alright tomorrow :/

Congrats Immortal on an eye-opening:eek: impressive pole. 👍
Great job Bart, also starting on the front-row. :)

Thanks Tim for doing a great job at being both Fernando and Charlie Whiting at the same time. ;)

My quali (Q1) went better than I expected, because I didn't crash and I didn't crash anyone else. :D You guys are so damn fast in this car.

Watching Paul's stream and listening to his professional broadcast:tup: sounds way better to me than potentially causing havoc in the Sunday race! :gtpflag:

I feel for you mate. Nothing as bad as not being able tu run an event you have prepared for due to technical difficulties. Hope it will be better tomorrow 👍

I'm satisfied with today's qualifications. There is no chance I could have gotten three more tenths. Congratulations Pablo!

Just realized we're going to be 16 strong in the lounge tomorrow (including oink) so...

We'll have to run the Grand Prix of Italy in my lounge (GTP_WRP001)

If you aren't already on my friends list please send a FR... I'll do a quick scan and see who is missing and send a request just in case.

Mics will be disabled for the race. If you have any questions please ask in the thread before the race. As always we'll do a formation lap and take our positions on the grid for a standing start at 4:00.00 on the clock (room race clock, not your lap time) We'll give the extra minute just to make sure everyone gets lined up properly and so we can take a nicely paced formation lap to warm tires and get sorted.

EDIT: Sent a FR to GTP_IMMORTAL, GTP_Vampire and GTP_Peir as they were the only 3 not already on my friends list.

Great job on the video Oink. Thanks for putting it together - It was very entertaining. Good luck to all WRS F1 Championsip drivers.

I've had the same problems, I normally have a sound connection with no DC's but last Friday it wouldnt let me join any lounges even after reseting the router, but luckily got in the last minute and I suffered 4 DC's on Thursday night, I ended up changing the port in which I plug the ethernet cable into in my router and that seems to have sorted it (fingers crossed), maybe worth a try.

Really looking forward to this big field should be a lot of fun also nice everyone signed up can still race unlike Monaco.
