Hey Masi I asked to be in the GT500 class awhile ago but it said in the list that I'm in the GT300 it would be great if you could change it please ok thnks

I have a few questions. Sorry if they have been answered before.

About the car allocation. It says " It will also determine the order of car selection for all participants"
So i assume the stewards will give the slowest qualifier the best car and the fastest qualifier the slowest car? If thats the case, how do you know what is or isnt the fastest car? Or how does this work?

I noticed that the qualifier has slip stream set to STRONG. Why is that? How many cars will be on track when we do a qualifier?
Will the races have slip stream set to STRONG?

Fastest Qualifier gets to pick first.

All the cars are undergoing testing right now to make them as competitive as they can as a whole group. They will all be regulated at an even pace. In the regular season, a success ballast penalty system will be put in place to offset any pattern of dominance of any car (or driver for that matter). I'll release the details of the success ballast penalty in a later time.

The purpose of why the Hosting Checklist (Regulations) is setup the way it is (with tire wear - off, grip on edge - real, slipstream - strong, etc. etc.), is to minimize any possibility of cheating. And no, cars can only do the qualifier one by one.

Masi my name needs to be added to the GT500 class

I think he knows, no reason to worry.
Masi's taken on a ridiculously huge workload for the next month or more, give him some time to make the change, it will get noted.

Patience, grasshopper.

Taken care off already, James. Check again.

p.s. I've got a mid-term on Friday at Uni. Will try to be less active these following days - still, important stuff will be covered 👍. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, just post here. The rest of the staff (stewards) can answer your questions too as they are very knowledgeable about the series.

Hello everyone... I'd like to compete in this series in the GT500 category. I've already filled out the application form. This looks really promising.

I am still unclear as to when the qualifiers will take place and how they will be managed. I understand that there will be more than one, so the times will be kept in an overall leaderboard by a Steward... I'll read again... But if you want to offer some clarification it would be welcomed...;)

Can't wait for some good old competiiton, with clean sensible opponents... You know, you don't get that last part in any open lobby room...

You decide when to do your quallifyer. If you feel you are ready, check this thread to see if there is a room open. If not. You can open a room, using the specs listed in the qually thread on the op. you can then request in this thread for a steward to observe and record your laps. You until the 2nd of January to quallify. Don't leave it til the last day though. Everytime I am online I will open a room for practice and quallifying. I am sure other stewards will do likewise. Hope this helps.

The Qualifier consists of two combos: Long track and Short Track.

Both must be done by all participants. To do your qualifier, just post inside the Qualifier Thread and ask for a Steward. I suggest you post the best times you are available during the day so Stewards can jump in and supervise your session. Likewise, Stewards will open up rooms frequently to host sessions. Room numbers will be posted in the official Qualifier Thread

Only the Top 30 times in each class (GT500 and GT300) will move on to compete in the regular season. In all, there are 60 drivers per conference - 120 in total for the whole series.

To eliminate cheating why not everyone just use the same car? I understand everyone has a preference of the type of car they like but it wouldnt matter what car is was if everyone had the same.
How does having slip stream on strong eliminate cheating?

Also will the results of cars that are being tested be published?

Are we allowed to change cars after each race?

Theres only 1 person from Australia who is a steward. That might be hard for us as he might not be on very often. Perhaps granting a few more would be a good idea. Ill send him a FR.
Sorry for all the questions. Just would like some things clarified thats all 👍

@ MONSTAR-1 - 'Eliminate Cheating' is in reference to the Qualifier, not the actual championship.

The slipstream setting is essentially useless as Qualifiers can only be run one by one. I had it set to strong just out of assumption that you can a tug from a big wall (or an invisible car friend). Which i highly discourage as it may inevitably result into an Epic fail. But yes, slipstream setting has absolutely no use - but its set to strong nonetheless.. as to reasons mentioned above.

Yes, of course the specs will be published. You have to follow those specs every week to be able to race - otherwise, not following them will result in an immediate DQ. That of course if you make the cut in the Qualifier in the first place ;)

No. You pick a car - you stick with it the whole season.

No problem.

Edited for grammar.

Everthing is spelt out clearly in the op. it really is a lot less complicated than it sounds. If you check the season 2 thread, you will see the specs used for that season and how it works in reality.

Nah, this isn't a spec series. Not by a long shot. We have achieved a near perfect balance in parity between all the Super GT cars we're featuring. We understand the differences in characteristics between cars, e.g. the difference between NSXs having a better top end versus the GT-Rs, but in the end it's balanced there as well in the track selection. Track schedule's essentially, " Strong NSX/Supra track-Strong GT-R/Z/SC430 track-Strong NSX/Supra track-Strong GT-R/Z/SC430 track" etc.

We eliminate cheating by knowing exactly what to look for on the HUD when cars are doing their runs during the season. We know when you've had a engine upgrade due to the increase in RPMs, we know you've slapped on a turbo due to the boost pressure gauge appearing. the only way you can possibly "cheat" is by adding more power by lowering your PP value by using less aero but we've countered this by using a double check pre-race inspection system this season. Adding a higher powered turbo for a better/different power curve is also able to be caught using our pre-race check method.

How does having slip stream on strong eliminate cheating?
It makes those accidentally creeping into the draft pocket of other drivers much more obvious since we run qualifying in race mode in order to be able to save replays.
Usually we have at least two drivers on track at the same time (if it's a popular room) that are let out 15 or 20 seconds at a time. More cars can be let out, maximum of four on the long track (Suzuka) and two on the short track (Laguna Seca).

Also will the results of cars that are being tested be published?
Yes of course, we already have three seasons of experience in bringing all of the cars to parity. The GT500 cars I think are already good if Masi would want to use my series' GT500 specifications so we're currently focusing on using a different approach to GT300 balancing compared to last season in which the Subarus dominated.

Are we allowed to change cars after each race?
Once you pick a car, you are completely stuck with it for the rest of the season. But keep in mind that all cars will be balanced against each other and this will be proven definitely with testing sheets and past experience.

Sorry for all the questions. Just would like some things clarified thats all 👍

No problem at all, thanks a lot for asking.
Anything else?
I'm also posting up a huge FAQ in a few minutes that'll answer most other questions people are throwing out at us.

Correct Twisted.

I'm getting a lot of messages in the likes of 'What do i do next?'

Please help yourself by reading everything in the OP. It's not too much to ask.

Still, i feel obliged to answer your questions. I'll keep doing so. It's not too hard to type - just a bit harder than reading *wink wink*

Edit: Thanks Eddie 👍

Great work Masi, as always. I read the structure and one thing throws me off. Why is there a ballast penalty for each win in the playoffs? At that stage i don't think there is any need to even the field as it should consist of the best drivers and i think every one of them would prefer things as much straight forward as possible.

Hello, I would like to participate in the GT300 class at 8pm GMT, and I have already completed the form.

@ MASI and Wardez.

Thanks so much for clearing up my questions. Its been a great help!!
Ive read the OP and ill be reading it again to try and understand it better.

@ SuperSic - The tournament is setup where the top seeders goes heads up with a bottom seeder. Ballast penalty is there to give a bit more suspense/excitement/drama. Still, I am open to suggestions and general feedback. Not everything is set in stone until a few weeks before the playoffs.

Yeah I don't think that'll be necessary, it'll only slug down the excitement with more extensive pre-race checks and such. Btw I just send you that FAQ. It's bigger than the WRS Comprehensive Guide so you know xD

Wow, awesome write up! 👍

I haven't read everything yet, but i've already posted it here.

As for the Ballast system in the Playoffs - we can take a poll before the playoffs with just the participants voting to determine if they want it incorporated or not.

Everyone - Please Read This FAQ.

Cool I have to edit it a bit. I'll do that and post it here in a follow up.

Alrighty. Thanks a lot, this should cut down the newbie PM's :)

I have it linked on Post 1 also.

Signed up, should be good.

Nice. Haven't seen you in a while. Not that you know me, but i know you're pretty damn fast. I used to run in the WRS in the prologue days. Oh, and correct me if im wrong, finalist in GT Academy?

👍
