Race canceled.

As a reward for those who showed up to race, I will be giving 2 bonus points to everyone who qualified for this, as well as Rome last week.

thus:

syjones1: 4 points
brandofo: 4 points
MULE_9242: 4 points
Wiifreak: 2 points
El_Aliens69: 2 points
GTP_Johny: 2 points
mira_alex: 2 points
DEUTCHER-SKUD: 2 points
greenie769: 2 points.

What the :yuck:. This was clearly decided that these where non championship races. And Rome?? Is this a joke.
If you had said that we would get bonus points prior to these races i would have taken time out of my day to attend these races. Since this wasnt the case i pursued other options in other Race series.

as much as i hate giving up 4 points, it is only fair to everyone if we do not add points for the last two races :)

... Seriously...

👎

It won't be very impressive if Wiifreak ends up winning the championship because of these two bonus points. These were supposed to be "non-championship" races. If their results affect the championship then they are not non-championship races. You never stated participation was mandatory for the unofficial practice races beforehand so why are you punishing people who didn't show up? You might as well be subtracting two points per race from everyone who didn't participate.
I agree with Nastradamus. There should not be any bonus points awarded as these two races were just supposed to be unofficial practice races. It isn't fair to those who didn't show up for completely optional races to basically be put down by 2-4 points.

...Well at least that got people posting again.

Okay then, I wont do it. It's probably just me being frustrated at the lack of turnout. I see what you guys mean, and I'm sorry.

Luckily I never got around to adding the points to the spreadsheet, so it saves me work.

What up ya'll!!! Shout out from Vienna, Austria. haha I miss racing with you guys. Have I missed any races or am I still able to grab the championship title with WiiFreak and Reevos? Ill be head back to Toronto tomorrow morning so Im down for any future races after tomorrow.

Hey! Don't forget about me! I'm only one point behind you three and I plan to be glued to your rear bumper next race . I'm glad the deep forest race isn't cancelled. I really like that track and I've never race fast drivers such as yourselves on it. The next three races are going to be very interesting!

On another note, I realized yesterday that one of the buttons on my G27 flashes the headlights in the day. (Since the wheel isn't officially supported most of the buttons - like the horn - don't work.) I'm not sure how visible flashing lights are during the day, but at night at least leading cars could flash their high beams to remind backmarkers not to hold them up.

Usually everyone is good about letting cars a lap up on them through, but in the heat of the moment sometimes we forget.

On time change tracks, flashing your headlights will light up the Armco and Trees provided you're not in full sunlight.

No clue how that effects the guy in front.

Also, I'll be running inverted colours for our "big" race this week. Snapped some pics, will post later.

If you have ever driven from cockpit view at night you will notice how the headlights of the trailing cars really light up the cabin. Over bumps and around curves the amount of ambient light changes dramatically so I would assume that flashing lights would have a similar effect.

I've been doing some online practicing at La Sarthe in my lounge with a buddy today. We turned on time progression for the first time to practice night driving.

The track looks magnificent at night with the stadium lights shining, fireworks exploding, and reflective surfaces glittering. All 16 of us out there is going to be quite the spectacle.

As for challenges, we found that some of our reference points for breaking and turning were too hard to see in the night, but we were able to adjust them with moderate success within a few laps. I didn't run enough laps to see how much slower I am in the dark but I'm expecting too lose at least one or two second per lap. Does anyone have a lap time to share yet?

What top speed is everyone planning on running? 310 km/h (190 mph) is what I've started with. I think I'll bounce off the rev limiter when drafter if I go any lower.

Was too busy watching the Cup race to practice.

And I'll get you put on the list there, Waznz

When do you guys race couple of drivers here in uk if theres any room left??

What time in uk then please if room.👍

It says on the first page that the race starts at 5:00 PM EDT, which is 10:00 PM BST according to google:

It would be nice to have a practice session this week (Thursday?) with a few of us on the track to get used to driving with others in the dark. Anyone up for it? It would have to be at of after 8:00 PM EST for me to make it.

Another Team Vivid member? :D

Welcome back, BlackIce.
The race this Saturday is going to be fun. Let's get some traffic in here leading up to it to ensure the grid is full.

Mule, can you define the track boundaries for the upcoming race? Are they the white lines or the rumble/ripple strips?

Good Question, as i have been wondering the same thing. There is a number of spots where you can have all four tyres off the "track" and potentially make up a heap of time. All of my practice laps i have been doing i have been keeping atleast two wheels inside the white lines at all times. I would like to think that we would all be smart enough to do the same but if the rules could be outlined here it would be great.

Vodas...

Gah, that's one of the things I kind of don't like about Sarthe. It's just way too easy to cut corners and gain time without anyone seeing you.

There's ways to fix it, but you really have to consider them.

Either you turn on penalties (which isn't really great) let people cut however they want (which isn't that bad since there's really only 5 places to cut) or you go the painstaking route of having to go through a long ass replay and penalize people for cutting more than twice.

I'm gonna practice the track later on, anyone down to join me?

i am online now if anyone wants to practice on sarthe. i will keep the room open for a couple hours so you can join whenever youre available.

You think PD would of put some sort of barrier in there in one of their updates, the same with the first chicane at monza. It can't be that hard. I really can't be doing with those time penalties.

I'm note really too worried either way, although i would prefer if everybody used the actual track (between the lines) to keep it as real as possible, all i want is for it to be made clear so we can all do the same and have a really close, competitive race :)

Anyone keen to share what practice time's are currently being laid down??

You know I'll be there! Although I just read that PSN will be down for a couple of hours sooo... yeah. Hopefully we can get some laps in.

Awesome, see you soon then.

Was just skimming through the list of rooms, saw brandofos room and joined in. Him and nastra were talking to me about boundaries, and here's what I think after having a couple of quick races.

With the way the tires are here, messing up, and missing a brake point isn't very difficult. On on most places, I'm going to be somewhat lenient. However, abusing that wont be met very kindly, and if I catch you trying to gain time by cutting, or going wide, I will hand you a time penalty.

Tetra Rouge (the turn before the long Mulsanne straight), however I am going to be strict about, as you can literally gain huge amounts of time by not braking, and running through it at 115 mph. If you see anyone cutting or blowing through that turn, of any other turn, really. Do not hesitate to PM me and report them.

As for boundaries, there's either rumble strips or white lines all around the track, which will serve as the boundaries. remember to keep two wheels on the track.

Ah man a race already? Man I am so rusty! I will have to start tuning my car right away.

Also, thank you Nas. Be my draft buddy?

Off-topic:
I decided to change the series I will be making to the BMW M5 Series instead of the Z4. Has a lot of HP so I will be using Racing Mediums to make the cars drivable but still have less grip. Car sounds amazing with just the Racing exhaust mod, nothing else. A beautiful car in every area! Just want to know how you guys feel about an M5 series seeing as I rather race with you guys then just random people coming in for one race throughout the series only to be an aggressive driver ramming everyone for that one race.

Ice:
Sure, if the chance arises.

I'm going on vacation for all of august so I won't be participating in you series. I'll probably do the first few races of the NSX series though.

Everyone:
I'd like to do another practice session tonight or tomorrow night for a bit of tire testing. Who is up for it?
