How do YOU intend to play GT6? Wheel/DS3/TV/Monitor

How do you intend to play Gran Turismo 6?

I honestly don't even like playing racing games with a controller. Addicted to wheels for life.

Also, it's nice to see that so many people are using wheels. Wheel and hi def TV is the number one answer so far. The more people that use wheels, hopefully the less dirty drivers and noobs we see online.

I will be using a DFGT, 32" Vizio 1080p HDTV, and a JVC 5.1 surround sound receiver from the mid 90s LOL

The buttons have 240 different placements, thus letting you feather the throttle in GT.
When the PS4 comes out, they are turning the DS4 X O ▵☐ buttons to digital.
So you will not be able to feather the throttle, it will be off, or on.

My point had nothing to do with Bluetooth...

You should switch to R2 for accel and L2 for brake, at first it will tire your fingers but keep at it and it will feel natural and make more sense as these buttons have a good amount of travel.

That's how I map my controller in racing games:

•L1 downshift
•L2 brake
•L3 horn
•R1 upshift
•R2 accel
•R3 wipers
•/_\ reverse
•X headlamps
•O ebrake
•[ ] rear view
•left analog steering
•right analog look around

I like it like that

I disagree. Especially in a sim, you want as much throttle control as possible and R2 does not give you anywhere near as much control as the right analog stick will. I don't use controllers often but setting throttle to up on the right analog, brakes to down on the right analog is by far the most amount of control you can get over throttle and brake on a controller.

I have a program on my PC that can measure the inputs from the DS3, the R2/L2 only measure like 8 different degrees of pressure while the analogs measure 256 from side to side or something like that. Can't remember but what I do remember is that the amount of control R2 gives you is a mere fraction compared to the analog sticks

It's really worth getting used to in any simulation game, and especially if you play first person shooters on default control configuration, you should have no issue being accurate with the right analog right away.

When I'm forced to play on a controller, that's how I do it because there's just no comparison, nothing gives you more control than the analog sticks, and you really do need that control in a simulator where throttle and brake inputs are so crucial.

This is the controller config I would suggest

Left Analog Horizontal- Steering
L3- Look behind
Right Analog Up/Down- Throttle/Brake
R3- Reverse
R1- Upshift
L1- Downshift
R2- Look right
L2- Look left
D Pad Down- Change View
X- Handbrake

The rest doesn't really matter. Up to you.

DS2 triumphs over DS3 :) The face buttons of DS2 alone can be as accurate if not more than any buttons or analog stick on DS3 - at least on mine :D Try high BB 9/6 no ABS on DS3

It's unlikely caz is going to go from using x and o to analogue sticks in my opinion, I wanted to offer him/her a good alternative that wasn't as extreme.

Either with my main PS3 with 46" 3D Bravia & DS3 or my 24" monitor with G27. I switch back and forth for GT5 and expect to do the same for GT6.

As a ds3 drifter for 3 years I can assure you r2 has a lot more throttle controll than the right stick. I find it kinda strange that some one would want to use x or especially the right stick lol for accelerating.

G27, Open Wheeler rig, 55" Passive 3D LED Toshiba, sound by Yamaha (which wil lhopefully be improved a bit from previous GT titles) :scared:

Driving with a G27, using a Sharp Aquos FullHD TV 47", Sony Bravia Engine 5.1 sound system (via optical fiber) and at night with my beloved Technics headphones.

What I will be using to play is in my sig. However, I'm going to be getting a CSL seat tomorrow in the mail, which will replace my wheel stand. Just in time for the GT6 demo!

As for my TV, it's some RCA SDTV I got years ago. Forgot how big it is. Somewhere in the 20" range.

On mah G27 with my big (and fat) Squared SRT TV. :guilty:

I still don't know how it will work without a PS3, though.

I already posted my respnse. 32 inch HDTV with DS3. But I hope I can get a steering wheel soon for the first time :D

I still don't have the money for it, but even if I had, I want to wait and see what people think of GT6 with a wheel, what wheel is the better choice and also which settings for it are the best.

If I get one, it definitely has to have a clutch and an H pattern shifter, as well as shift paddles.

But for now, DS3 it is.

I'm more than likely starting with DS3 on my 55" 3D LED HDTV, then make a custom racing rig out of my G25 wheel. Hate playing when it's hooked up to the table.

With my G27 and a full HD 22" PC monitor. Just half a meter from the monitor. :D

I have a DFGT on a folding table in front of a gaming chair. I have an hdtv that my PS3 is hooked up to. I'm going to be getting a Fanatec GT3 RS V2 soon and I'll be building my own rig.
