I've never done a week 13. What is the excitement about it? Also, will there notes about if SR will be affected for the race you want to enter?

Thanks!

Week 13 has different events from the other weeks. Some just for fun, with no SR count, and others for people who are trying to upgrade their licenses to get more SR. I believe you can see in each event's description if it's SR free or not.

Looks like Street Stock Challenge and Legends Road Series are official with irating/sr at risk. The Gymkhana Challenge has sr only at risk. Everything else should be unofficial. I'm liking the Production enduro races with 60 car fields of the Miata, Solstice, and Specracer at Spa. Also the Proto and GT cars 60 car fields with races every 3 hrs next Sunday with 90 min race length at Suzuka.

Ran my first official season in the Mustang for season 3. I was able to get 4th place points in my division(3) and 31st in points overall.👍 (Thats if nothing changes points wise before this evening) Wish I could race during peak hours for some more SoF for more points though.:indiff: I ran 26 races with 22 top 5's, 10 wins, 9 poles, and 63 incidents(2.4 inc. per race avg.). A few of those races I finished out of top 5 were disconnects while I was leading.:ouch: For a few days I had some crazy internet troubles which was driving me nuts.

Think I'm going to run the Mustang and either the Grand Am series in the Riley or the Proto and GT Challenge in the Vette. Not sure yet.

Sounds like you had a great drive in the Mustang. Spa killed my SR, I was averaging +/- 2.5 per race and had some contact at Spa in my MX-5 plus a few spins from losing focus and my average SR went up a whole point. Damn near gave me a heart attack.

I think the iRacing officials got a little excited with some of the boundaries at Spa. That track can be brutal on SR if you're not 100% focused.

Yes sir it can! They really need to reevaluate them and give us some slack, it can be crazy!

Don't know if this was officially announced yet but apparently the Spec Racer is getting the NTM next season (maybe the other basic cars are getting it too?). The private league I race on announced their next road championships will use the Spec, and they have a NTM cars only rule since last season.

For a noobie like myself, what cars have the NTM presently please? :)
And, I take it that NTM stands for New Tyre Model? :dunce:

Interesting what you guys are saying bout Week 13. surely it can't be more risky the Legends Oval racing? Yall know how bad it can be. I've come in 2nd once just by keeping to my line and letting everyone pass. They were wrecking each like no tomorrow. Everyone I passed I am thinking they were in the pits. I was so shocked when my spotter announced we had 2nd place clinched

Was very busy last week only had time to attend practice sessions. But this new season I want to come out of the gates hard. I want to give Road another shot and practice the Star Mazda / Riley. Bah, cant decide quite yet. Both are so much fun to drive.

Might still do a little Ovals since thats where I've had some success. Very curious bout running some Street Stocks on some real Ovals.... Wish me luck! hope I dont get crushed at turn 1 :scared: (I am planning on the Week 13 Street Stock events)

So, let's all get together and enter the Production car enduro!!

I just qualified in the MX-5. I can't race until tomorrow night at the earliest but I can't wait to get out there! We should all agree on a time and meet out there.

I'm good any time after 8:00.

Cheers!

Only made it 16 mins into so far when they start talking bout Outlan Park. I'm going to have to finish it tomorrow morning. Looks like some very nice new additions 👍

I really want to get to the Will Power part of this!!!! But tonight must get in some practice with Street Stocks....

Hi, I see iracing is American. I am in the UK is there a lot of people from my timezone play the game, would there be plenty of people for me to race online?

How are the races organised online, can you go on anytime and there will be races to compete in or is it more you have to be here every week at X time to compete in this league etc.

Can anyone recommend a suitable nvidia graphics card and where to buy one (UK), I take they are a universal fit and fairly easy to install ?

Lastly, can I use my Logitech DFGT wheel?

Sorry for all the questions guys, any help would be much appreciated thanks 👍

I would say, at any given time of day, 24/7, there are usually about 1,500 people logged on. During high traffic times, on weekends, I've seen it around 3,000+.

That depends. In Rookie series, generally you'll have races starting every hour. As you take part in different series, they may only take part every other day, or only every other hour, and so on. As you advance in levels and gain access to more series, you can pretty much find a races starting around the clock.

Lastly, can I use my Logitech DFGT wheel?
Yes, it should work fine.

Somebody else will have to answer you about the graphics card.

I picked up an ATI 5770. This guide is what I used and it might help you too:

They are universal fit as long as you have a system with PCIe slot which is the vast majority of newer machines.

You may need to remove old drivers before installing the card, so read the directions.

Jav, I just got home. My wife and son were in a fender bender tonight so needless to say I won't be on at all tonight. Tomorrow nights a different story though. Catch you at 9:00 tomorrow?

Well I got some clubsports to go with my T500RS and my road racing times have improved and gotten more consistent 👍

I am so stocked....

Going to be practicing & preparing for Season 4.

Thanks livemusic for posting that schedule! Oulton Park looks amazing! So does the extra pit art too 👍

Great to see Will Power in that film. But Solstice is his favorite?! He describes it as a "heavy brick with wheels"

Was also happy to see a Grand Am race driver. Though granted I am not very familiar with him

No worries man! Was distracted between the DLC and puting my real car back together, logged in at 8:55 didn't see you loged in shut it down and back to the distraction!
Will for sure be there tomorrow night!

I got a good laugh tonight while playing online in GT5. There was about 5 or 6 other guys just thrashing on iRacing. Saying its terrible or GT5 is superior. These were no kids either. Guys my age, around 30.

I don't get it with people. Why do people have to become so stuck on one racing game? I like most racing games out there and all for different reasons. Don't matter what it is, be GT5, iRacing, Shift series, NFS, F1, Nascar, they're all fun in their own respect.

Just thought I'd share. Hopefully those guys stay off iRacing cause they could barely drive in GT5.:P

iRacing has a very small membership base compared to GT5 (30,000 ish? vs 5-6million?) so you will find a lot of these players/people who bash it are doing it with ignorance, having not tried it. Others may have tried it and found it too difficult/harsh and judged it without giving it a real chance.

With all that said, iRacing is far from perfect. While it does many things well, a lot of people consider NetKar Pro (a low cost, 1 time fee ongoing beta racing sim) to have superior physics. For all the awesomeness of iRacing it has many flaws and the extremely high cost of progressing through it turns away a lot of people.

If you consider that with GT5 you have a fairly decent sim with 1000 cars, that can be upgraded and modified, along with a fairly large list of high quality racing tracks, for the price of what? £30-40? Then you compare that to iRacing, you get a couple of cars and a couple of tracks to start with, you pay a subscription for that, then every single car and track added on top costs money. Just running a single series of racing will cost you more than the price of GT5. A year of basic iracing subscription alone will cost you more than the price of GT5.

They are different games for different markets, for all of the awesomeness of iRacing, to the average consumer the pricing model would be considered madness, hell I'm a member of iRacing and I think the pricing is too much. As a racing sim it is better and more accurate than GT5 by a long way, but as a standalone game GT5 offers more and costs so much less.
