is GT6's photo mode better than Forza 5?

New car and new iteration of the Nurburgring.

I guess some will sooner go for game representations over proven science and real life. I can't argue with people who's vision is so rose tinted they can't see the end of their noses for the immediate pinkness. As such, there isn't any point in me arguing my point any further. You wouldn't get it even with the help of diagrams.

This from a person that admittedly mocked another game for no real reason at all. You have to be kidding.

So shiny, oh my eyes  :D
Quite contrary to the dark pictures that where posted of the M4. The user makes or breaks the photo.

To bad the FM side of this forum is rather dead. Would be great to see a combined thread with the best of both worlds. The sad thing is, is that it will be to much of a chore for the moderators to look over, because it ends up with someone, from either side of the fence, throwing blows.

GT6 use tessellation

FM5 do not use tessellation

simply

the only wrong comparison is that GT6 runs on a PS3, FM5 runs on a XONE... when GT7 will come to PS4 we will have a fair comparison

Well in thread title is "is GT6's photo mode better than Forza 5?" so I was talking about games which are refered in title. Of course I admit what you said that fair comparsion of current gen games will be when GT7 will be out.

So are you saying that Forza 5 has differing quality between different car models?

I think some of them yes or most of the cars you've seen on Forza 2,3. Some of these cars are still out of proportion even if TURN 10 is saying they are created for next gen. For example check Nissan Silvia S15 on Forza 2,3,4,Horizon and 5 and compare it to model in GT5,6. You will see that on Forza's they are same and out of proportions while GT5,6 are same too but looks much more like real one.

In what world is shiny unrealistic? Polish your car properly, heck look at it after the rain and it'll be shiny.

The Evo doesn't look realistic at all and before you ask, I've got GT6 and have seen more realistic shots from it than those.

It looks plasticky to me a bit like this:

The Fisker Karma? Ninja'd

Forza 5 looks beautiful imo, but perhaps not entirely realistic (though I've seen some fairly realistic photos, perhaps with slight enhancements in PS though) - it's almost too 'perfect' sometimes. GT6 looks a bit more realistic, the colours and lighting look more real and it's reasonably easy to get realistic looking photos from photomode, even with minimal tampering with editing.

Turn 10 definitely need to work out the kinks with their lighting system (which they are addressing with tracks like Long Beach and the 'Ring and roughly twofold with FH2 assuming any advancements there make a round trip back to FM6, of course), and I'd be so bold as to suggest you won't find anyone that thinks the overexposure (hah!) to the god rays is as mind-numbingly preposterous as I do, however, FM5 is more than capable of producing, well, see for yourself:

All taken by me. Unedited.

Do any of these look real? Absolutely not, and neither does any shot taken from GT6 nor will anything look real in GT7.

Do they look photoreal? I'd say so, but then again I'm entirely biased aren't I?

I'm a horrible photographer but to me this looks as close to real bright daylight as I've seen in a videogame.

I think GT6 can look quite real as can be seen in following thread: Link

Given how much more power PS4 has I expect PD to do an even better job considering current rendition does not please the creator of the game yet can still produce amazingly realistic photos. With much more advanced GPU and with more memory and x86-64 architecture to work with, I won't be surprised at all if GT7 photo mode can indeed satisfy any connoisseur of photography. I hope they can get to this level at least:

I can't wait to see what they do with all the extra ram on the PS4. I remember being amazed by GT3 Laguna Seca and Seattle's sunset back in GT3 when I was a kid.

Realistic enough?

Took me a few seconds to tell the difference - and even then it's really close. The Audi shots are uncanny.

I think this is the best way to showcase what GT6 can do - compare with real-life shots. But then in the same thread the same could be done with FM5 as @fortbo asks.

@Terronium-12 That Huayra looks really real, I think, but the others are iffy. The shot of the track - the tarmac looks more refined than the sand, but I still think it's rather close. The P1 looks like a video-game to me, don't know why. And the Audi is very good, but again something tells me it's a video-game shot.

But definitely 👍 for the Huayra - that looks like the real thing simply because of the shadows and the understated reflections. If there were more shots like this one to put in comparison with the Audi and BRZ shots I just quoted then this thread could remain civil and everyone could really see that each game has it's own strengths and weaknesses.

This is the thing I'm continually trying to get across, at least from my perspective: they both look like games, neither one of them fools me into believing it's real - photorealism not withstanding.

This is almost so impossibly subjective that it honestly shouldn't even be a discussion, but curious minds and all of that. :P

Actually being on-subject for once: If there's one thing I really like about GT6's Photo Travel versus Forzavista is that one can get up close and personal with their cars (as well as move them) without resorting to trickery and bug exploits like one has to do for Forzavista.

*edit* I forgot about the interior glitch in GT6 but I feel my point still stands..mostly.

Interior glitch? Like the one in GT5 or is it different this time?
I think he's talking about when you stand close to the car and zoom in through the window you can take pictures of the interior. It's technically not a glitch.
