Israel - Palestine discussion thread

Its Shia populated city, Hezbollah is dominant Shia power in Lebanon. Seems logical that city mayor is controlled or member of Hezbollah.

Googling get me few post few years old about him being Hezbollah member. Nothing official, that's why I asked, not stated.
Are you really going with "people of a certain religion, or elected by people of a certain religion, are likely to be terrorists"?

It's even more amusing because it has been stated that not all Russians are genocidal, fascist maniacs because of the actions of Putin's government.

Every(or almost every) mayor in Nazi Germany or Soviet Union was member of Nazi party or KPSU, thats how its working in totalitarian states. Lebanon in messier state, so I dont know if he member of Hezbollah or not, but it seems logical. As previously was stated, Hezbollah isnt just terrorist organisation, its quasi state with its own police, army, medicine, etc.

Good, you saw the date. It's like it's predicting the future. And we've been played. You are reading it from the horse's mouth.

This was always the gameplan. Israel knows it (and is happy to kill civilians because they aren't Jews). Hamas knows it (and is happy for civilians to die because it will drag people into conflict). Musk knows it (because he wants power).

It's a sucky feeling. I spent time in 2015 volunteering for a Syrian crisis group amidst the rise of ISIS. I was also wanting to volunteer in Gaza the year before.

This whole schtick of pretending everyone but you is a moron is... well, it's a mood for sure:
Hamas wants to wipe out Israel and will put the people it claims to represent (having lied its way into power) in harm's way to achieve this unachieveable goal. Netanyahu is a murderous prick who is more than happy to shoot through those Palestinians to achieve his much more achieveable goals (what with having one of the most advanced militaries in the world) because he doesn't even view them as human, thinks cramming two million of them into an open-air ghetto/prison in the first place is just fine, and in any case wants their land for Israel and needs an enemy to justify flattening it to the piss-weak international community.

There is indeed a terrible fault on both sides that has brought about this horrible situation. About the only equal part of it though is that neither of the sides cares about killing Palestinians.
Posted in January, and hardly a new sentiment even then.

But sure, you're the free-thinking prophet with the unique world-view and superior thoughts.

It's not new and I'm not claiming I'm some magical prophet but the discussion is kinda stagnant here as people refuse to look deeper into the history and acknowledge just how much it's down to religion and the effect it will have on the world. It's a bit silly to say this all started in 1948.

2 state solution? Impossible.
1 state solution? Impossible.
Complete genocide of the Palestinians? Impossible.

This will be played out in the West now and people will associate into tribes based on it. Those tribes include religious factions and will influence elections:
That is with a Muslim population of 6%.

If we do not acknowledge differences between religions, and assume that Mormonism is the same as Islam is the same as Zoroastrianism, we will be in for a wild ride.

The riots targeted primarily Muslims and asylum seekers based on one false tweet. What happens when the next attack that is actually committed by an Islamist happens? We've already dodged a few thanks to the security services.

Who... who are you addressing here?

This is just rambling, and I've no idea who it's aimed at.

Well that's just nonsense.

The impact both religion and nationalism have had as causes of the current situation have been discussed at length here.

Ah, the clarity of the absolutist.

And we are back to your main interest I see, that didn't take long. Do you conflate support for Gaza/Palestine with support for Hamas? I quit as a Labour party member due to its stance on the conflict, do you conflate that as somehow supporting Hamas?

No one has done this, that some people have said they treat all religions the same does not allow you to extrapolate that into they think no differences exist, that's a bad-faith argument.
