They will ruin GT7 just like they have ruined GT 5 and 6. Standard cars is just one of the major problems of the game, GT7 will still have the same dumb A.I. and PS2 quality tracks... It is going to be a complete mess. They just want car count and say "ooh we have over a thousand cars!" I just went through the car list and it is shocking to see the number of duplicate cars, not to mention the 40 odd miatas and the like.

This time though we won't have to live with it, to get GT7 we will need a PS4 (don't know why now) a lot of people that is pissed off about this and many other broken promises will either stay on PS3 and stick to GT5/6, go to XBOXone (I am considering it at the moment), go to PC or just get a PS4 and avoid GT and stick with Pcars.

GT6 sales were disappointing, GT7 sales will be embarrassing.
Well you just have live with standard cars in the game my friend and if you do not like them you just do not have use the standard cars in the game and that is not hard to do that is it.

I will not buy GT7! Did you read the post my friend?

Kaz is a hipster?

Actually, that explains a LOT.

He'll start calling standard cars "vintage" anytime soon.

Also even if you don't use them you still see them at every race, the make the whole game fugly. PS2 era tracks have the same effect.

Would you buy the game if they didn't include the standard cars?

Oh, and you don't have to buy the game of course. But don't be surprised when GT7 handily outsells GT6.

Edit: I just realized something about the poll on this thread. What do people who aren't going to buy the game regardless of the standards vote for? The first one right? I'm sure we've had people vote who either will find something else to make them not want the game even if standards were taken out or have already made up their mind not to buy the game. So that number would really be a bit lower yes?

Double edit: Actually, the poll makes no sense at all...the question is "Are standard cars a deal breaker" so the only choices should be just a simple "yes" or "no". The third option makes zero sense...if you're on the fence about buying the game and are going to wait for reviews than standards are obviously not a deal breaker because there is still a chance you'll buy the game.

If they would have said we're getting rid of PS2 AND PS3 assets (read standard cars and tracks), GT7 will be a fresh start, we've completely changed A.I. added visual and mechanical damage and it is NOT optional then yes I would buy it. I've played it since GT1, I used to love the game...

Anyway since I think a lot people used to be on PS just for GT the real question should be "Will you switch to XBone now that GT has gone senile?

So you wouldn't? Good to know.

I will make it simple for you. If they make a decent game I will buy it... I don't throw money on crap or if I have such as with GT6 I make sure not to make the same mistake again.

You don't need to make it simple. You've already answered my question. Actually, in your first reply to my question you even used too many words. Anything more than a simple yes or no was for your sake, not mine.

GT bad, Pcars good! there you go.

Once again, too much. You're even drifting off topic now. I don't care if you think GT is good or not you've done all I needed you to.

Hardly an achievement if the numbers kicking around the internet so far are even moderately correct.

You're aware that we now have several varieties of standard. I'm sure for some standards will be a deal breaker if they stay in their PS2 format, but not if they appear as the upgraded standards that we've seen, for example.

I'm not sure what I'd think if all the standards were the quality of the best of the upgraded standards. I'm pretty sure I could live with them. Annoying to not have an interior, but it could be worse. On the other hand, if I have to look at PS2 assets in full HD then I'm out.

Very true but he was insinuating that it would sell worse than GT6. Which just won't happen.

That's true but that isn't a question anyone can answer right now. The question at hand was are the standards in and of themselves a deal breaker.

Apparently there are several tiers of premium cars quality speaking. GT7 will be the most inconsistent game ever. GT8 will be a Frankenstein.

But PD decided that the AI drives those cars in the past. This means we have to see and hear them. Hearing isn't a problem right now, but it will be, if we finally get realistic car sounds for premium cars.

Did anybody expect the GT6 sells to be as bad as they seem to be? Nope. For the record, i'm not saying it will sell less, but it is possible. Big franchises got smaller and smaller franchises got bigger in the past.

Correct me if i'm wrong. We now have standard cars, improved standard cars, premium cars and premium cars taking advantage of testallation. GT on PS5 will be crazy.

There are those as well. GT5P cars are different to GT5 cars are different to GT6 cars.

To take advantage of @Tornado 's greater knowledge:

You know, in addition to being quite involved in GT4 Photomode competitions (just like Slip) and in addition to spending quite a lot of time dual-playing GT5 and GT4 when the former first came out (just like Slip), I also did quite a lot of specific car to car comparisons when the early gltiches regarding things like the Alto Works first became evident and the changes in liveries between the two games. First off, the Photo Travel models were not the highest quality ones. The garage view/dealership models were, and I haven't seen any of them since GT4.
Going along from that, often times the differences in quality between the best models and the race models amounted to having 3D wheels on the former and nothing else. The main cars that had the dramatic model quality differences were convertibles, and PD didn't use any of the higher quality models for those in GT5 or GT6. And, as it pertains to GT5 specifically (but GT6 by association), quite a few cars looked worse than they did in GT4. Not better. The infamous Alto Works, which was eventually fixed. The Subaru Legacy, DeLorean and Hyundai HCD-6, which were not (and still weren't as of GT6, despite all of the hooplah about tesselation). All of the cars (except maybe the Stratos) where they modified the liveries, crudely editing out words with smudges, barcodes or random shapes. Any car that had animated body parts in GT3 and GT4 which were never fixed.

So perhaps there were cars that were notably better looking in GT5. But there were also quite a few cars that looked much worse, higher resolution, better lighting engine and supposedly more advanced model or not. So in fact it goes more like this:
  1. Glitched or poorly modified Standard cars - Worse than the assets as they appeared on PS2
  2. PS2 in game quality - As they appeared on the PS2, obviously
  3. PS2 gallery quality - same as PS3 standard in-game quality except when #1 is in effect or when PD didn't use the Photo Travel models.
  4. PS2 dealership quality - better than PS3 Standard quality. The new-for-GTPSP cars would probably go here.
  5. Slightly touched up Standard cars. Stuff like the 1999 Celica would go here.
  6. PS3 semi-Premium quality. Stuff like the RUF models would go here (this also includes at least one one car labeled as a bona fide Premium, so it isn't as if the PS3 Premiums are all to one quality standard either)
  7. PS3 Premium in game quality
  8. PS3 Premium gallery view quality

The gap between 1 and 2 is huge. The gap between 5 and 6 is huge. The gap between 6 and 7 is large as well. There are even major gaps within 7. The gap between 2 and 3 is not, to the extent that it is usually imperceptible.

I'd say you end up with the following in GT7:
  1. Glitched or poorly modified Standard cars - Worse than the assets as they appeared on PS2
  2. PS2 gallery quality - same as PS3 standard in-game quality except when #1 is in effect or when PD didn't use the Photo Travel models.
  3. PS2 dealership quality - better than PS3 Standard quality. The new-for-GTPSP cars would probably go here.
  4. Slightly touched up Standard cars. Stuff like the 1999 Celica would go here.
  5. PS3 semi-Premium quality. Stuff like the RUF models would go here (this also includes at least one one car labeled as a bona fide Premium, so it isn't as if the PS3 Premiums are all to one quality standard either)
  6. PS3 first gen Premium. GT5P models.
  7. PS3 second gen Premium. GT5 models, higher poly count than GT5P models.
  8. PS3 third gen Premium. GT6 models with adaptive tesselation active.
Unless they somehow manage to find the time to improve 1 through 4 to level 5 quality, that is a dog's breakfast.

No they will not ruin GT7.
Yes they will my friend, sorry but there's no denying it.

And you my friend TokoTurismo you just have live with standard cars in the game.
Heh, I won't need to. ;) Because, you know, I'll be on Forza 5, Forza Horizon 2, pCARS, and maybe DriveClub, hell I even have GRID: Autosport for my Xbox 360, so I won't need to put up with PD's crap no more. :sly:
And @TokoTurismo are ya gonna change your username or no? :mischievous:
Nope. Still gonna be Toko everybody knows best, haha. ;)👍

Good list. I guess we will get new cars build after GT6 and for PS4, too.

Just a quick point, I doubt we will truly 'hear' standards in the next game. From what Kaz is saying the sound model is set to get a thorough overhaul. The standards are unlikely to benefit from their own samples so they are likely to use generic V8/V6/4-pot etc samples but they are hardly going to sound atrocious...

As for standard cars in general, I do not mind them but for GT7 two things need to happen:
A) Enough standard cars are replaced by premiums to have complete Super GT3/500, Le Mans etc grids throughout the game without standards. (i.e. they become just a list of extra cars for a bit of fun away from the core gameplay).
B) A thorough review of the standards list resulting in the deletion of duplicate/very similar models (trying to find Mazdas in the dealership that are not MX5s is just a pain) as well as deleting the cars that they do not deem worthy to bring up to semi-premium level. We seen a little bit of that in the transition between GT5 to GT6 losing cars like the Interceptor.

Do that lot and I will be pretty pleased. If they don't I'll still buy the game I am sure!

Oh you will... To have a laugh at hearing how bad the game is, and me telling you "You should have listened to us." :sly::sly:
Looking at your quote in your signature and then that comment you just made Toko, I know you feel hard done by from the GT series but surely this isn't what you would want? To brag about the state of a series you once loved because of the mistakes it is making?

I know you are buying GT7 on PS4 so don't talk so much rubbish TokoTurismo you will buy it I guarantee it because If you name is ever on the GT7 forum talking about the game that means you have play it.

To a certain extent we already know what state it's going to be in. It's going to have standard cars in it, on PS4.

I think it's more about it being satisfying when the actual results of that design decision come to light. Everyone would be happier if the game turned out to be really good, but Polyphony aren't making it easier on themselves by stating that they'll stick with the 800 pre-2005 models they have.

I know you are buying GT7 on PS4 so don't talk so much rubbish TokoTurismo you will buy it I guarantee it because If you name is ever on the GT7 forum talking about the game that means you have play it.

So people aren't allowed on here that don't play GT6, is that it? I don't think it's working, there's a bunch of people in here that don't play.

I like how you know what his decisions will be better than he does though.
