It might disgust Peter., but I for one, hope that the soul of Kim Jong Il rot in hell for eternity. Sick, twisted, murderer of millions. I hope this isn't another North Korean bull:censored:, and that Kim Jong Il really is dead. It is amazing how criminal of this caliber was never punished during his lifetime.

I hope this somehow leads to the end of North Korea. Free the prisoners!

'‎State television announcer weeps while announcing Kim's death' - What. The. Hell. We're meant to feel sorry for these people who suffered under his rule, and yet one of their number goes and sheds tears for a psychopathic loser. She should be partying (I know I would be if our Federal 'leader' kicked the bucket).
You have to realize these people are quite literally shut out from the rest of the world. They are raised & taught to be thankful for their leaders, and have almost no clue that the world views them as a poverty-stricken country.

I'm sure if the (supposedly) just as crazy son of that leader wasn't in power now, she would. I'm sure she would prefer to continue living though, even if it is in a non-preferable place.

North Koreans don't see Kim the way the rest of us do. They are indoctrinated, almost from birth, to believe that Kim is a deity made flesh and that the North is a paradise on earth. His death is not going to break the spell he cast over them.

I hate to say this; but, agreed. I'm not getting my hopes up, though. :scared: --- Randy

Some reports coming now saying that he died from a heart attack & could not be saved, as the cause of death.

He was 69, I guess that heart attack is likely, probably his diet was unbalanced given his weight, and the other factor is the stroke that he suffered on 2008 so I will say that a hearth attack is plausible (I'm actually amazed that no news agencies have reported anything related to plot assassinations or anything like the things they say when a dictator dies).

To the right, Kim Jong-Un.

And his last look at sausages:

You seem a bit uneducated on how North Korean citizens were supressed and manipulated under Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung. Take a look at this documentary (luckily I found it on youtube in 5 parts) that I watched in my history class. It may be one of the best educational TV shows I have ever seen. (And believe me, I watch alot). Anyway, this American eye doctor got clearence from the North Korean government to enter the country with video cameras because he said he was documenting his work. But they really recorded much much more than just that.

I wonder if we snuck in some special forces people while NK was distracted by the death of their dictator. Really, though, NK's communist rule is pretty much screwed, since China has distanced themselves from NK and Vietnam wants nothing to do with anyone. Same thing with the Dominican Republic and...I haven't heard anything about Cuba since Castro died.

Uhhhh... The Dominican Republic isn't communist.

Castro is dead?

Well that is something I overlooked completely.

But nah, the economical interchange between the Chinese and NK is quite strong, that is the main reason of why NK is still and will probably be a communist country, I'm not sure why people assume that his dead ends the communist regime because it doesn't, is just like in cuba where Raul Castro succeeded the exact same politic, they have their own protocols for these situations.

I don't think anyone knows if Castro is dead, alive, or even still the Cuban dictator.

To do what? Take photographs? That's all they'd be good for - the North Korean population is indoctrinated. They believe that the west is an aggressor. There isn't some underlying pro-western sympathy that can be drawn out by a smash-and-grab Delta Force operation to spread dissent the way you see in the movies. The North Koreans do not hate Kim Jong-il. They love him. They are taught that he is some holy being in human form, sculpting North Korea into utopia. Any pro-western sentiment is brutally rooted out; dissenters and their families are sent to prison camps where they are usually used for chemical weapons testing.

This is true. But I'm pretty sure that the majority don't enjoy being hungry and poor. If special forces could infiltrate NK's TV station and broadcast some images of what life is like on the outside, people might not be so devoted to their leaders.

Kim thought of that - North Koreans are taught from birth that the outside world is corrupt and decadent and evil. They believe that their suffering is for the benefit of their homeland. They will not respond positively to someone like America imploring them to join the wide world. They're probably in such an elevated state of shock and mourning that they wouldn't even notice any broadcasts.

There is no master plan that can be enacted to bring change to North Korea so that everything lines up neatly. There are no pro-western advocates in the government or the population. There is no special mission that can be carried out to inspire the citizenry to revolt. North Korea is sealed tighter than a steel drum, and we cannot get through to them. The only way that standards of living will improve is if the North comes to the conclusion that reunifying with the South is in the country's interests. But they have to come up with that idea on their own - if they think they are being manipulated into it, they will likely retreat deeper into their hole than they ever have been.

I guess when his son takes over, the 🤬 could hit the fan but, unlikely. His son may open up his country to the world but yet unlikely. Most likely everyone would just starve to death as they have been during Kim Jong Il's rule. He may have died but we still have to wait and see.

Edit: Imagine if we lived in a world like North Korea but not even know it, just thinking about it gets me confused. I know we don't, but if we were raised believing our society is correct but in reality it's really damn wrong, how would we face the rest of the world with our previous beliefs?

If the situation takes a turn for the worse we may have to send in Chuck Norris. :sly:

Castro isn't dead. He re-signed as Cuba's leader in 2008 handing power over to his brother, Raul. This year, he resigned as the leader of the Communist Party, also turning it over to Raul.

The man is simply retired & the last of the living communist dictators. He was just photographed with Chavez this month.

Is his son also crazy?
Western analysts don't know too much about him; he simply hasn't been very prominent within the North Korean ranks until recently. He is the youngest son of Kim Jong-il, and the West always assumed that one of this two brothers, Kim Jong-chul or Kim Jong-nam, would rise to prominence and assume power one day. But Kim himself thought that Jong-chul was "too feminine" to be accepted as a leader, and Jong-nam was at the centre of an embarrassing episode in 2001 when he was caught trying to enter Japan with a forged Dominican passport so that he could visit Tokyo Disneyland.

North Korea is such a joke! Hahahahaha!

I wouldn't say that. North Korea isn't exactly in the business of issuing passports, and if they were, then Kim and his family would not want to be identified as members of his family. It makes them out to be too much of a target. And they do live lavish lifestyles, so going to Disneyland is probably something that they would do. The actual passport that Kim Jong-nam was caught with claimed that he was Chinese, and there is a population of about 15,000 ethnic Chinese people living in the Dominican Republic. So the idea that he was trying to pass himself off as being Dominican is not as absurd as it sounds. The North Koreans probably use Dominican passports a lot, simply because North Korea and the Dominican Republic have nothing to do with one another.

**** him. It's too bad nothing will change. Castro stepped down, nothing changed. Saddam gets killed, nothing changed. This guy dies, nothing's gonna change.

Well that's why nothing will change. All we know about him is yes he is crazy. Him and Bin Laden in one year isn't a bad thing though.
