It's just that urge of needing to gold everything. I have it too, but I guess I can manage without golding that. And the event will be gone in a couple of weeks anyway. No one will ever know...

I know exactly what you mean! My tough ones were the FXX and the Pikes Peak car at Eiger. I kept getting so close that I had to keep pushing for gold. If only PD would upload the data then Milouse could make his awesome tables and we'd be immortalized forever! But sadly they're not doing that. :(

I was never able to Gold the FXX either (no SRF, no aids/0 ABS on my wheel), 0.300 short.

But after 600mi/1K km of trying, I got something much better than gold...
...my 0 ABS brake foot is way more calibrated now after dialing in the first Monza chicane...
...and that goes with me to all the tracks I run.

So even if you don't get gold you may improve skills depending on seat time put in.

This event is quite tough, the course is very technical and the restriction on tire makes this car breaking traction easily. Not to mention the dark night make it even harder. I have hard time even getting the silver. Which corners yield time improvement most here? Or better yet any one has the map and the unique driving line for this event?

I also insisted on sticking to it with no SRF or ABS. It's fun to push yourself in the challenging seasonals.

I'm glad the TTs are forced off SRF now. 👍 Really levels the playing field for us stubborn folks.

@t_wilson01 I thought you had already golded it? I thought my friends list was a good meter of ability and then added you and realized I needed to step up! BTW, ABS on/off doesn't make much of a difference in these non-tuneable events. You can still mash the brakes on DS3 without lockups. The trick is trailing off the brakes as they reach their limit as you slow down. I'm finally learning what trailbraking means. :dunce:

Oooh, fancy words. Regulating brake pressure with the square button would be a bit too much for me I'm afraid.

I started this TT a couple days ago, promptly went off the track and called it a day. :guilty:

Well, something new again. My only two ghosts from yesterday (9:19) are still there and loadable, of course my 9:17 ghost is missing. However on the track there are two ghosts, and one is Cargo's (9:12.2), which gives me someone to chase, although I am ahead of him sometimes in the first 5 minutes.
I am now on 9:16.9.

edit....I think I have found out why there were only two ghosts with me for the race. The others were either too far behind or too far in front to be seen, however, there were only the two I mentioned at the start, not all the rest. Which I find strange.

Incidentally, was up over 2 sec's on my best time after the final straight in one run but went off the road in the final chicane (the start area), so I know a 9:14 is possible.

"Hey, let's paint our cars Arancia Metallic Orange!"
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"I don't have the paint."
"Oh, you didn't get gold in the Lexus IS F CCS-R '11 Nurburgring 24H 1 Lap Time Trial."

A track is not static.
Temp, oil, water, bits lifting, cracking, wildlife, carnage, small children, lots of things could be different the next time you hit the same bendy bit.
Drive the car, don't guide it, otherwise, it'll drive you.
If you're gonna be a passenger, that's all you'll ever be.

There's a rhythm that's been ground hard into the north loop over all these years, try find it.
Without this rhythm, you have to deal with instability.
You'll know when you've found it.
Those that made the rhythm drove hard.
So should you.

PD gave hint for how to do this one.
Seems these seasonals point to a different thing/theme/skill you should learn each week.
Me thinks PD maybe needs to be less subtle, a mere few noticing.

Here's a larger one...

Jase Scott, thanks for the tips. I will probably practice it in arcade mode to find that rhythm. You have very good car control in the video. Amazing 360 spin and then go straight and the donuts, did you do it with the wheel? What settings do you have on that wheel?

Hi FSportIS,
I have G27, I think settings are ffb:9, power steer on.
I mostly drive 900 degrees.
I'm actually not that good, it just so happens PD and logitech made these tools that are virtually nearly putting me in the TV in the car. Make it so much easier with all the ffb and superb audio cues. I'm leaning into corners half the time ;)

Do the 24mins N'Ring in this car with the wet track and all, I'm having a ball doing that in this car, only penalties there is the fence.

Just smash out the first 2 laps on inters, then bring one home on hards(keep tyres like the trial).

No looking at clock, chest open, shoulders working.
Driving line OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you capable of posting without mentioning Cargo? I'm sick of reading your self-serving spin on the pissing match.

I have noticed the same thing, and if someone of you is trying to get some more phase on your nurb lap, I would suggest to run some laps on sarthe before you go back to nurb and vice versa. I mean the way these seasonals complement each other is just amazing! And the way PD has been setting these TT's through the year had felt really instructive and there's always a thing or two you learn and carry whit you in to those future challenges.

And in fact, nothing beats the feeling of learning new things, especially when they are making you go FASTER :D

Yes, can't wait till next week huh ODB?
I can't

I think this week is "set-ups that will change direction mid-corner".
Whta do you think?

Well "set-ups that will change direction mid-corner" doesn't really say anything to me at all I'm sorry, but the way I see it is that de la sarthe is for phase and reflex learning and nürb for precision and especially STAMINA!! It's mentally quite a task to hot lap the ring :scared:

And as always, it's all about keeping that momentum, I mean after the first corner on the ring you it's all about momentum, and even thought you have this über missile of car in use on de sarthe it's just a tad of momentum lost and you can restart since the lap is BS after that :banghead:

And if you watch the momentum those top guys are able to carry through the first hairpin on nürb, It's no wonder they are making such fast times...

What is rewarded at nordy is throwing.
Especially in these conditions.
Grab this thing by the ear and tell it,
"Listen to me, we're going for a run round the ring, you're coming for the ride, I hope you can keep up."

Actually something else I just thought of, this week, "using your mirrors":)
This is actually quite a serious topic, some of most horrific accidents in motorsport resulting from mirror neglect.
First thing you should learn on a race track, is that you are on a race track.
Always, always, always use your mirrors always.
You'll be booted of nordy quick smart for mirror neglect.

Not an accident, just funny, I think people in here would get a giggle from this, totally understanding this poor guys frustration at some mirror neglect killing his lap.
Whose side are you on, the rex, or the focus & bikes?
It is quite clearly mirror neglect, focus not giving way in first instance, then the bikes were just in lala land...

BTW, watch this guy scrub hell out of his front tyres as he exits the cones at the start,
and into turn 1 as well...

I'm just as sick of reading what his cheer squad says, same old same old. Who'll be the next baby sitter?
Furthermore, I have been told I will never beat him so why wouldn't I post when I have?
Mind you, my post was in no way offensive by any stretch of the imagination so what's the problem, people here regularly talk about getting in front of someone or other, nothing malicious in it.

And may I just add, that it's not probably the greatest of ideas to chance direction mid corner, I usually try to go in same direction all the way through the corner, helps a lot for those DQ's :D :D :D

(sometimes I'm just so funny it frightens me :D )

Ok you have beaten the cargo, everybody knows that by now. Here's a new benchmark for you he's called SUB 9 min. please come back for more when you have achieved that!!!

But there is obstacles littered all over my corners in these races OBD, how do you avoid them DQ's?
Particularly Apricot Hill, should call it mid corner madness that place, I seem to be forever turning. I love weaving them round the top of the hill.
Spa got a lot of mid corner stuff too.

How do you recover from a mistake OBD or coming up on mid corner obstacle, can you at least alter your line a little if called for?

Ok yeah now I see your point!!! Very true, these cars do handle great when you have to alter your line mid corner. Especially these PD tuned cars are quite easy to handle in that matter.

Here's what it should look like, made this one just for you

And yes it took me couple of laps but for the record I have terrible hangover and I'm by no means sober.

Lol now that guy is a proper tool. Shame he got his quick and nicely run lap "ruined" by others having paid the same 27 Euros like he did. Shame timed runs are forbidden on German public roads anyway. Nope, while I can understand the frustration the shown behaviour doesn't get any sympathy from me.

Just did my best time, just 5.92 secs of gold. Managed to beat a guy on my friends list, who normally wins everything so when i saw i was ahead of his ghost line i thought, huzzar! I'm going to get gold here, but turns out he hadn't got gold yet either :( I found my self being faster using the HUD view, instead of the exterior view. I guess its because i can see the corner apex's more clearly and can feel when the back end wants to step out a bit better.

Still 6 secs to lose though, will try again another day or i'll end up rage-quiting forever lol

and of my friends list only josh & i have a lap done it seems.

You have to be a little more forgiving of those pushing themselves out to the edges ItsHim.
Right through sport you'll see people spitting the dummy.
Some have to actually get themselves a little worked up to push that hard.
You been there, that hard, ItsHim?

He swore, shook his fist a coupla times in trhe heat of the moment, that concerns you?
Let him cool off, go back in an hour, then see his attitude, that's when you may start assessing his demeanour

Yes, German public road, legislation, fun stuff, thanx for the reminder.
Google tells me Jerusalem is the capital of Israel too.
We all know this place is more than that, don't we?

edit: oops, almost forgot to add,

rex: 1
focus: 1

thanx for your vote ItsHim!
