I feel so depressed.I know I am not in the same league as most of you guys, but I can usually Gold the Seasonal Events. It might take several attempts, but I can usually do it. Not this one. :( My best time is 9:30... I watched the video replay of the World #1 driver. It's like he throws his car into corners sideways. I have no delusions to think I could some day post an 8:42 lap, but I am very bummed that I can't beat 9:20 for a Gold. :SIGH:

Try, try and try again if that fails try again, don't give up.

I cannot gold this at all. done around 15 tries.
The fact I don't find the track fun at all and have a very James May approach to it doesn't help also ha.

I got gold around my 6th lap but i think there is a glitch it almost felt like the first few laps the car wasnt run in yet eg after a few laps you get more power. Only reason i think this is my first two laps were 6 secs behind but it was so easy to beat it by 6 seconds on my 6th lap but my driving line didnt really change

I finally bettered my time of 9:30!! It's down to 9:27. LOL! I just want to cry. I know I am leaving time, even for me, on the GP part of this track. I've never been good with the GP track and at night is just making me too hesitant, I think. But honestly, for my skill level, I can't see where I'm leaving time on the track elsewhere. I'll try braking later at certain turns and I'm flying off the track. I try to stay on the gas in sections that I'm tapping the throttle and I'll be spinning out, etc.

Obviously, I know I'm leaving a crap load of time on the course because I am almost 45 seconds behind the overall #1 time. But I don't know if I personally have what it takes to get down to below 9:20...

Im not giving up though. I'm taking a break to decompress and then I'll be back at it.

15 times? I probably tried over 100 times... completed the track about 5 times (:dunce:) and got gold by 3secs.

I'm not sure how you know exactly which wheels the first 38 are using as all it says in the description is that they are using a wheel (900 degree Sequential Gearbox Racing Wheel with one using a Gated Gearbox Racing Wheel), doesn't say what brand of wheel
I +1, @Dalone?

No, the best would be made by Thrustmaster and Fanatec, those are the higher end wheels that most people would consider the best, or among the best. The G27 is the middle of the road but very good for the price range, but by far not the best. I'm not sure how you know exactly which wheels the first 38 are using as all it says in the description is that they are using a wheel (900 degree Sequential Gearbox Racing Wheel with one using a Gated Gearbox Racing Wheel), doesn't say what brand of wheel. Furthermore, just because most may be using the G27, doesn't mean its the best, only that it is one of the most affordable. I really wish you would pick yourself up a wheel so you can stop using that as an excuse. Like I told you before, there are plenty of fast DS3 users, you could be one of them too if you actually applied yourself.
Hey, I apply, I apply! Often sub 500 these days, even sub 200 once in a blue moon. And if I can manage to stay within reach of you on this one until the 2nd wooden bridge I reckon I'm pretty well applying myself, ha ha.
But regarding the wheel issue, not knowing anything about them I thought the 900 degree Sequential Gearbox Racing Wheel meant a specific brand of wheel, but you say it refers to a specific 'type' of wheel. Fair enough, the best racers all use the same 'type' of wheel, I stand corrected.
I did once buy a 2nd hand wheel, a G27, however it would not drive in a straight line without constant correcting, which killed it for me. One of my boys persisted with it for some time however it's been back in it's box now for quite a while.
I know sometimes we get into heated discussions here but I do value our friendship, and and we seem to get over things relatively quickly in any case. (half an hour ago I had a bit of row with my girlfriend on the phone and wasn't going to pick her up today, 10 minutes ago we talked again and everything's cool, that's sort of how I am)
However, to have the (my) final say here, I respectfully suggest that if the best 38 racers here use a wheel, then a wheel, for the vast majority of users, is faster than the DS3. That's a given. Cheers.

Don't give up. Set up a single player race at this track and just race here a few times. Don't worry about winning or loosing, the idea is to slowly learn the track.

I felt the same way as you about the Nurb until last night. Now I'm finding it really exciting. Once you learn the layout a bit your view will probably change.

Not to shamelessly self promote my video, but watching it might help you see where you could realistically improve your lap as opposed to watching one of the top lap times because we're not at the same skill level as them.

Thanks @GTP_CargoRatt My next goal is sub 8's, so watch out

I think I DQ'd 15 times between every clean lap. But if you keep trying, and learn from your mistakes, you'll eventually get there :) 👍

One more thing though. Somehow, the only of my friends ghosts I had on track was from a 9:40-something lap. I think that really helped, because I didn't watch the others fly away towards their 9:10's-9:15's.

Alright, all understood. And yes, I too value our "unique" friendship, but you do have a way of getting under my skin sometimes. At any rate, lets end this little chapter here and move on to the next. :sly: In a few short days, they'll be a new set of challenges for us to debate/argue/cry/complain about. See you there.

@Flash_Sweden Keep positive and believe in yourself....you'll make it happen no doubt.

Well, they say that anything is possible, but I seriously doubt that I can manage to shave off another 1:20 minutes and beating the current #1 with 43 seconds ;)

A second or two would be possible, now that the pressure of getting gold is over

Had a moment of anticlimax this morning before getting to work. Woke up waayy to early, and decided to fire up my PS3. Then I realized that the awarded paintchip isn't the same as the Lexus has. When I bought my own Lexus, I didn't get a chip, so I assumed that the awarded chip was the one for the Lexus. It turns out it isn't :(

I actually like to watch other people's replay's because I can definitely learn from them. Unfortunately, I can't tell what gear you are in or what your speed is - you have instruments turned off - I think that would help me more. Then I would see where I'm not carrying enough speed into which particular corners.

I still watched your video of this Seasonal Event. Great job!!

You could check out any of the top 10 on the leaderboard. I did, and after that I started to accelerate out from corners in 3rd, instead of 2nd. 2nd gear is only for braking. Just maintain your speed through the corners and you should be fine :) Good luck

Cheers! Just skip to around the middle of the video and you'll see the "bumper" view with the instruments on the screen. Hope it helps.

I too assumed that the paint chip was the actual color of the car. PD is really something. Anyone else noticed how in the TT this car suffers from a bid of understeer, but has more grip than the one in the dealership? At the same 519pp/417hp it still felt more maneuverable than the loaner car.

This TT is something else, in my time playing GT5 and now this the only event that's kept me coming back for more was trying to gold the Vettel X challenge in 5. I'm currently sitting at 9:06 (and have been for a few days now) but I know there's more to be dragged out of the car (and me!). I think my biggest problem is when the checkpoints come up, there was one time when I was coming out of Aremberg (had to look that one up...) and saw that I was a whole 2 seconds up, it really threw me out of my stride, and I promptly parked it in the barrier a few turns later. Pity there's only 2 days left for this one, I've really enjoyed it :(

Concentrate on being able to get on gas at the apex of each turn, especially the ones that lead to long straights. You don't want to be off the gas and still braking way past the apex. There are a few corners where if you are on gas early it can get you almost a second of time by the end of the straight. Better to brake early and line car up for a good exit, than to brake late and fight to get back on the gas at the apex. Once you figure out how to do that, you can start to get more aggressive. One other thing, nice avatar 👍.

I'd say it suffers from a lot of understeer :banghead:

Yes, I really need to reign this one in. I'm finding I can't carry any speed through the corners - only had three complete laps so far and a few DQs from just running wide off the outside. As I said previously - I don't seem to be any faster through the corners than a half decent 450pp setup on Sports Hard. What a frustrating car.

I was just a moment a go on a good lap and actually yelled my self "are you a 🤬 pedestrian?" when I started to take it bit too careful not to mess it up :D

This is definitely my problem right here. I am not carrying enough speed through the corners and I know it's a matter of milliseconds. If I'm getting on my brakes 0.3 seconds before I should and taking them off 0.3 seconds after I should with each corner that's 0.6 seconds right there for every corner of the track. Not to mention, being on the brakes 0.6 seconds longer than I should means I've slowed my car down to a point that I will never get the car up to the speeds it should reach on the straights.

It's very frustrating knowing what you're doing wrong but not being able to actually implement the changes.

Shine on...

I know exactly what you mean! My tough ones were the FXX and the Pikes Peak car at Eiger. I kept getting so close that I had to keep pushing for gold. If only PD would upload the data then Milouse could make his awesome tables and we'd be immortalized forever! But sadly they're not doing that. :(

I remember the FXX at Monza being surprisingly hard comparing to the other time trails. It may be one of the hardest to beat for me yet. No, wait, scratch that, we all know the-one-I-shall-not-name is the hardest.

Woot! This was seriously difficult. First lap was a 9:31. Lot's of DQ's later got down to a 9:27. Almost gave up after that but reading encouraging posts here helped me through. Last night ended at 9:25.3.

Today I finaly found a rhythm. First complete lap 9:23.8 and not long after that gold in 9:18.123 :) (G27, Abs 1, driving line).

So, thanks guys! :gtpflag:

This track is AWESOME!!!! Now I'm starting to understand what the Nordschleife is all about. I'm still scared silly by the dozen or so corners after the carousel, but there's a huge difference between having an idea of what corner is coming up next and not having a clue where you're going. I can't believe that just a couple of days ago I ran a 9:36 and today a 9:12. :D At first I thought this Lexus was rather bad with it's pronounced understeer, but once you learn to be patient and not accelerate too early it becomes rather fun to drive. I love how you can throw this car around and it takes it like a champ.

I made a few big mistakes on this lap and see lots of places where I can improve, but I'm more than happy with this lap time.

I'm not depressed, but I am certainly disappointed. I am the same as you. I've always been able to Gold all seasonal events; even in GT5. This is the first time for me Not to get Gold. I'm currently at 9:26 & I know that I can knock off a few more seconds with a perfect run. But, still frustrating! At least you know that you're not alone in this one!

Well after being in a real bad mood I decided to have one more attempt.
Not caring about going off and just chucking it into bends like mad a did a 9:15.656.

Gained 14 seconds of my previous best and went from to 25k to top 5k.

Bit happier now but still hate the track haha.

I just DQ'ed myself at 9:14 coming around the bend to re-enter the GP circuit...I can see the finish line. Somebody shoot me.I havent had one single clean run yet tonight...I'm almost out of will on this one....

For those still having trouble try using driving line. Even though its not the best line, helped me with braking later. Was able to gold the lotus 97t, X2014 and just now lambo and veyron S events which were much easier than I thought they were going to be.

I'm thowing in the towel boys... 9:24.530 is the best I've managed. I had a better run going twice but ended up going off the road. They were probably still over 9:20 though. I'm defeated. I'm just not good enough...yet.

Practicing online helped me a lot. I just entered a practice room and started doing laps by myself to learn the track. I'm in one right now even. :) You'll be so happy if you make it, trust me.
