Little Things You Love about GT7?

I love the change of light during evening races.

The speed of swapping between menus is great.

During replays the cars near the camera are out of focus as the camera is locked onto your car further back.

During replays the random camera views occasionally comes up with a new view I've not seen before.

The championship movie intros, especially these 2:

Been trying to find the rest on YT. Wish there's an easy way to view them again in game.

Other little things:
  • Cars come with their correct default tyres (e.g. Comfort Hards on old Mini instead of Sports Hards on all road cars like in previous games).
  • How gritty and brutal the race cars feel. Driving the Super Formula around Laguna in the license test feels amazing and completely unlike the "dead" feeling in GTS.
  • The wind making a huge difference in aero grip. Really makes driving feels alive in this game more than any other GT as you have to constantly adapt and not just memorise inputs.
  • As above with changing weather and drying track. Also driving GTS tracks during a time/weather transition is such a breath of fresh air after 4+ years of baked lighting/shadows. You can't rely on shadows anymore for braking points.
  • The various electronic remixes of classical music in the menus.
  • The light around the Scapes building in world map shimmers more than other buildings, reminiscent of an old incandescent light bulb.
  • My birth country finally represented in Scapes (not gonna tell you where though ;)).
  • Installing diffuser adds downforce but also reduces drag (a bit too much, but I'll give them a pass).
  • Being able to take your own photo as background for your profile page.
  • The Mission races' thumbnails looking like old music album cover arts.
  • After skipping GTS, we get MOTC back (and 2 remixes no less).
  • Vroom. The only good thing to come out of music rally.

The headlights, this game has to have the best low light headlight visuals of any game ever. Instead of what other games do which is just light up an area in front of the car that follows the track around and is completely even and bright, GT7 seems to actually model the projection and light dissipation correctly, very very convincing. The fact it also casts shadows off other cars also looks amazing and is something I don't think I've seen other games do this well if at all.
Appreciate this is replying to a post which is now nearly a month old, but I was slightly disappointed that projector cut-off wasn't properly modelled by PD. Appreciate it is a somewhat stupid detail and the rest of their headlight modelling is great, but it did surprise me that it was overlooked.

In addition to that I am surprised by the LED tail lights - they 'warm up' like halogen bulbs do, which is also a disappointment :( I do a bit of work with custom headlights and tail lights, so notice this more than most lol

One other thing that I really appreciate is the ability to do old school, childish burnouts in RWD cars. It's always been possible in FWD to start a wheel spin and slam the handbrake on, but in GT7 you can light up the rear tyres in an RWD and then press the brakes gently to control forward momentum and do an almost stationary burnout.

In addition to this, like in real life, the smoke lingers. If you do a burnout and then drive off the smoke lingers and follows you for a bit - same with drifting and then regaining traction for a while. Some great little details.

How over time the sides of the track like grass get more chewed up, so for example if you ran a bit wide the previous lap you'll see exactly where you went wide on the following lap. It gives the tracks actual character, instead of them staying static the whole race.

The pop of the Atenza Gr.4 as it's downshifting.

The Mount Panorama sign is illuminated at night, with some unseen person switching them on during races spanning sunset.

Honestly on incidents like yesterday when the manufacturers race didn't work (in warm up I had a black screen but the hud was there and the car was on track, after that warm up loading screen and it just stayed black.. stuff like that frustrated, especially since it would have been the last race of the day and only my 2nd race ) I reached a high level of frustration again, but then just drove my cars a bit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Has anyone ever watched a video of their night race? Me yes .. the 24h race.
My goodness there really isn't that much missing for a real 24-hour race there.
The light of the headlights + the course boundary + the parties behind it, then the 2nd interior view where you sit on the back seat and watch the race from there. BOA Fierce.
And then what has always fascinated me, the brake discs, depending on how long and hard you brake, they don't always light up the same way, but when they do... It's a pure celebration.
Then the sparks in exactly the right places where e.g. put the body on...
Or when vehicles in front of you are driving at the limit and shifting down before a curve... those black clouds from the exhaust paired with a loud pop... soo many details even on the PS4 pro.

I love it!!!

During the GT Auto sequence when oil is poured into your engine the Dualsense sort of gives off the sensation of the oil hitting the sump. Now I know you can't actually feel that happening in real life, but imagine pouring water into a bottle (that you're holding) and that's the feeling you get from Sony's controller when the oil change sequence is initiated. It's pretty neat.

When you enter a race and have to quit and buy wet tyres because you cant see in advance if its wet or dry.(sarcasm)
Wet races are still cool though.
And then you enter the race again on IM tires and this time it's not raining...
It's frustrating but brings a smile to your face when you think about it.

Once I've set it, it remembers my seperate MFD settings (session best for Qualy, radar for Race) for the rest of the time I have the game open. Don't think this happened in Sport.

Using a controller, the chunky jolt of feedback when switching gears in some cars is different in intensity and feel every time, it can be subtle but fun to notice.

when you're time trialling or qualifying, there's little to no one there. No TV trucks, not many people in the stands or mulling around. Why would there be? Come race day they all descend and the track is much more active with camper vans, tents, TV trucks etc.

It's not new to the series this year but it's a little point of immersion so many games miss.

It almost makes me feel anxious learning a track in MotoGP that the whole world has turned up to watch

I started the game fresh on a second account and noticed that the garage on the map screen will change size depending on your collector level. It goes from a little one door garage to a two door garage to a massive showroom-looking thing. It's a small detail that has little effect on gameplay a but cool detail nonetheless.
