For simplicity, i would suggest that for a league you do single races for points. Then, say, the top 6 teams of each league at the end of a season could get put into a tournament: GTwenty Cup for example. Round of 12 -> Round of 8 -> Quarter Finals -> Semi Finals -> Finals -> Cup Champions.

This is where you could have a team-vs-team thing going on. It will be an interesting thing to do after the season, and will be brilliant for the players i think.

I also guess that teams could do something like a friendly battle during the league thing (season) and could do write ups about those also

I'm not following can you elaborate more? Do you mean like individuals score wins for their team then you go to a points format in a tournament setup?

Oh man, I only have a DFGT, oh well...

You can be a part of this even if you have a DFGT mate :) Thats what im using for now 👍

Good idea, yea i was thinking about after writing that your idea is much better, and simplistic with one on one races and also having team races, its always easier to see it on paper than to visualize it.

Update
Will a race feature 12 racers from different teams, or two or three racers frome each team, i guess thats the next question, what do you think is best,

For the League, it depends on how many people can race in one session, Idealy, you want a league race happening in one session, so points could be worked out a lot more easier.

So if using the model from my previous post you got 50 racers in a league, 5 racers per team, 10 teams in the league.

Obviously, you cant have 50 racers racing in one session. I think the max maybe 20 or 16. We will see when the online options become availiable. So heres what i was thinking. Say you have 20 players in one session only.

You do one practice session where all racers in every team can race, the aim is to post the fastest time, So you are weighing out the competition of other teams, and you are also trying to do better than your team mates to progress to the Qualifying round. The top two players of the team goes through to qualifying and the race to score points for the team. Its the only way i see it happening propperly.

Of course it would be good to have all the players in a team racing for points, but again, we are only restricted to what Polyphony Digital serves up in terms of options in the online modes. If you wanted that to happen, the player cap would have to be less than 100

Im sure, we would be able to work something out :)

One more idea: we all know that in GT5 are lots of modifications of one and the same car (15 variations of Honda S2000, for example). Not all gamers know why there are so many and in how they differ. Maybe, going through career mode, we will post some comments about all this modifications? I think that would be interesting not only for newbies, but for whole GTPlanet. After some time we'll have a complete FAQ almost on every car in the game.

Ok I get what you are saying that sounds about right. Yea I wasn't going to actually make the league page until we actually knew what we were dealing with in the online options part. I think the race restriction number is 12, don't know were I heard that from though.

Conditions for tournament mode

Okay so say the season has finished, you got the top 6 teams from the US League and the Top 6 teams from the Euro League.

Top 6 teams from each league get drafted into a tournament automatically, this will enable team battling, to determine the best teams out of BOTH the leagues.

Now the format of racing and winning conditions i have thought about and we could borrow the system from Blur. The online Team Battle mode does quite well.

Also, i agree with InSight. Weekends for the serious league races and tourneys and team battles. Weekdays for get togethers and general races for fun and sharing tips.

Say you got Team Toyota vs. Team Turismo - both teams consisting of five racers (the full team).

You can have all the racers in the teams racing each other for points value.

Say Team Toyota have their racers come in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th places. Team Turismo have their racers come in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 10th.
Team Toyota would have won as they have amassed more points than Team Turismo, and Team Toyota go through to the next round of the Tournament.

It would be a straight up battle for position.

Something along those lines anyway.

hey, i gots a wheel... its an old logitech momo one, im gettin a G27 soon tho, cause my current one is almost dead lol

oh my psnID is zepheadGT3

This seems like a great idea, and if I can find the time, I would like to join. I used a Sixaxis on GT4 and rock with it, but tried the wheel and you can't tell I've ever played a GT game.

got it sound good. I will have everything down by wednesday it will be posted so all those who would like to put in more input, can do that. Once it is materialized into one thread I think it will be easy to get down. The first weekend their will be no serious events as we will be all getting used to the game and with our teammates. We also will need to decide what tracks will be used in the weekend events. That can be sorted out during the week.

sounds good to me, I just saw a video of a track in the night time with rain, it simply is amazing and shall i say beatiful, it's like a drag race and a turn at the end to come back up the straight away.
Also just saw a video of Rome track, looks like league potential.

Also for all those who voted for 4 person teams, (Me included) it seems that may not be a possibility with the number of racers we have.

Yeah, lol i voted for 4 as well, but i dont think it would work very well. 5 or 6 would work well depending on the total player cap you set. Once you have that, then you can set how many players go into a league and size of teams etc.

Lol, i never knew setting something up like this had so many dependancies! :dunce:

I haven't really read the last 15 pages of discussion, but how are you going to organise these? Are we going to have a random draw of teams from the users posted in the OP? How will they be notified, through forums PM or PSN? Will you make it available for all worldly users? (What I mean by this is not by planning races at 9pm EST ect ect)

There will be a different thread with all the info needed for the teams, races and everything else. A lot of things is dependent on the actually game and what it allows us to do but so far what has been confirmed for the leagues is there will be 2 of them. One for the US and one for Europe, each with its own thread. Users will be notified through the thread which will have the weekly events and results posted. Also once we get the ball rolling team members can keep each other informed through PSN. A lot of the details are still up in the air because we don't know what PD has in store for us yet with the online portion, and I didn't want to make the teams just yet until we had a final number of racers.

I am getting my cockpit Tuesday so I can finally hook up my G27 just before GT5 comes out lol.

PSN is rave2grave

What league would australia be part of, will it have it's own league or would it be part of the euro league?

Hmm good question haha! i guess it depends which league would need filling up in terms of spaces left.

Just wait for Fame to get the final numbers of people involved in this and then im sure you will be notified of which league to go into. :)

I still have to pick the shifter up, getting better without it now though. Wanted to start GT5 with the DFGT.

Still the idea is not to exclude but to get some people together to really start using these shifters. I'm certain there will be better and faster groups that do not use the shifter.

So interested, but weekends I generally move a lot, so maybe an alternative on Saturday might be nice for me.

The deadzone talk on the G27 scares me a bit!... How about the FF? Is it smooth or does it feel like your turning a car that has rocks in the steering box?

As I understand it, and certainly that's the feeling I got from simracingtonight, the DFGT is more like a plastic version of the G25 with cheaper pedals but more features, and feels like a G25 rather than a DFP. The G27 is a G25, refined a bit and more FF motors. They all use gears to provide the feedback, which gives that horrid kinda grindy feel when you turn.

Like you I don't like the feel, and having just bought a DFGT it feels notchy in comparison to the also cheap MS Wireless FF wheel that I also have, which is belt driven rather than geared. For smooth, notchless FF, you need belt driven - which really only leaves the Fanatec 911 GT3 RS wheel for the PS3/PC. I just can't justify the price right now, especially as I am unsure if I'm gonna love GT5 or not. I wish I'd bought the ltd multi-platform version when I had the chance the 911 Turbo S for PC/360/PS3.

Anyway, the DFGT feels a little better than the DFP, but still notchy. You're gonna feel that same annoyance with a G25 or G27. I imagine you get used to it. If you're gonna shell out for a G27 you may as well get the Fantatec RS, otherwise maybe stick with the DFP or the DFGT at least until you know whether you are gonna be playing GT5 for a long time.

just going through the list adding everyone on psn, quite the slog, does anyone know of a quicker way? plus sick_ap2 isnt registered on psn

edit: wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, thought I had mild dyslexia there with some of the names. Hurricane43's id is down wrong and a few are in twice but otherwise its grand
