PD must be doing something awesome.

Don't start conversations you can't end then...
That I cant end? You quoted me.

My madden game has been updated I have no idea how many times. Promised a fantasy draft and wasnt in the release. Later updated it in. Tiger Woods added putting features that wasnt in at release. Grand theft auto has had many updates. NBA2k had had several updates fixing physics and gameplay.

I dont investigate every little update. I was making the point that most games in this day of age isnt finished at release or 3 months down the road.

Edit
So for me 100% of the games I own werent finished when I bought them (or 3 months later)

What part of the single player experience was not in GTA5 at release? I started playing it day one and have had no problems. The multiplayer was released like a month after and did have some issues that were resolved quickly. It is a HUGE MMO.

Fixes are not the same as key features, are they?

The fact that there are bad games that still have bugs long after release does not make GT6 a good game.

To you it may not, but some are enjoying the game. How can that be? So if its not a good game why are you wasting your time?

GTA single player was finished you say, but online wasnt? So that to you means finished, ok. Glad I got your definition of finished. Ok so if I check GTA forums there will be 0 complaining then?

Edit
I dont have an issue with GTAV. I was asking you a percentage of your games or games you know of that are finished upon release or 3 months down the road. So if I give GTA finished tag my games would be 80% of my games needed fixing.

People enjoy lady gaga's music. Is she a good singer?

About GTA5-Surely no one is waiting for rockstar to add modules of the game that have been advertised but not included in the game. I've had absolutelly no problem with the game playing through it. NO ONE has the features PD promised.

Nice analogy! (Seriously!)

I am not arguing that GT6 is finished. Never have said that.

This will just go back and forth about promises in future updates argument that can be revisited throughout the forum.

I like the game for what it is at the moment. Can it get better? Sure. For your side of the argument, it can only get better, right?

I also have contributed to every thread I have posted in and not just gone into threads harping about how everyone is wrong. I simply am amazed at the effort put in by some to ridicule the game.

GT6 has the potential to be AMAZING. Sadly poor management and bad decisions crippled it.
I am not completely against that notion. And nor am I attacking you about feeling that way. You would have to know I have no problem with rational argument. Its the non-sense that goes into threads that have nothing to do with the postings.

Edit
I pm'd you Im not going back and forth.

Rather sad to see my favourite gaming franchises turning to the worse as of late. BF4 was a bug ridden crash fest, GT6 was missing stuff that was in GT5 and still don't have them and now the visual downgrade of Dark Souls 2. It makes me so sad. :(

Technically speaking a game is "finished" when the developer stops issuing updates and patches. A game would be considered "complete" to me, when all the features advertised on the box or announced for inclusion in the game, are actually in the game and working properly. Additional content above and beyond that announced before launch or through subsequent updates do not change this, they are simply additional, optional content otherwise known as an added bonus.

Yes, I know, but it still has a lot of new cars/tracks... Well nevermind... you should just wait for the track creator then? Or if you have so many games you can play the other ones.

And what is making you think that I am not playing them? (I also play RTS´s, FPS´s, RPG´s, Puzzle games, Horror games...you name it...I probably have it :sly:)

I said before that I play other games and GT time to time, no need to tell me what I should do or not. I´m already waiting for the other stuff on my own...and complaining here and there sometimes with my own reasons. Like it or not.

I know we have to wait for updates but still if I don´t get what I want it is quite normal to not being happy about it. I also paid for the game, same as you.

Others will be happy with triple monitor and stuff like that...but to me means nothing at all.

Just in case...I play the Gran Turismo series since the first one back in 1998, I still own GT4 (and Tourist Trophy), GT HD Concept (it was free though), GT5 Prologue, GT5 Signature Edition...and GT6 Anniversary Edition (digital).

I want the best for the game and for the series...and for us...the costumers...I will keep complaining until I/we all get what we want. I don´t think that´s bad.

The positive thing to say here is that with this update some people got what they wanted. "Priority" or not aside.

You are never going to get everything you want in life. In anything, take your favorite game for instance is there anything you can make better? Probably. Anything you would want to add? Probably.

Hindsight is 20/20.

The release maybe could have been a money grab, but for me I dont work unless it snows in the winter (watch my kids).

So for me if the game wasnt released until it was "finished" and say it wasnt until June, hypothetically.

This winter I wouldnt have had this game or been able to invest time into progress, find racing groups, fine tuning cars, etc... I would have never had the time/energy in the summer (I work like 50+hrs a week) to do all of this. Then I would have never had the chance to play.

So this way if I want to race after a long day in the summer I have 100 tuned favorites, dozens of racers always looking to race, and a nice little money bank. All I have to do is pick what car I want. Is it ok for me to be happy with that? And is it ok that some may feel similar to this? And is it ok that I am here at GTP to see what those people with similar interests has to offer? And is it ok to be annoyed at the consistent petty claims (not all) that infect those very threads with drama?

I'm honestly in a bit of disbelief that after all this time, all this silence, that this is all they put in the update.

I wasn't expecting much at all but this is far less than even I thought they would do.

I always fight against people who say PD "owes" them something just because they want it, but, for the first time in history I am going to say they now actually OWE us something...

Based on things stated as fact by PD at time of release I figure they OWE us 2 new tracks and the community functions (at least some of them) minimum. In the next couple of months (trying to be realistic) a minimum of at least a simplistic track creator.

The single largest thing we are "OWED" however is a little respect for buying their product in the form of communication on an even microscopic level. I am a hardcore (almost fanboy) supporter of this series but dear Lord they need to give me something to work with. It is beyond difficult to do when you have absolutely nothing to use as fodder for your arguments.

If you ask me this update just a preparation step for the bigger things to come. As Lawndart and others have said in various threads, they need to lay down some ground work first. The basic functions need to be rock solid in order for complex additions like a fully integrated online community system to be reliable and effective.

I am glad they released the game when they did but I am a bit upset that they said [or made it sound like]we would get the community features early in Jan which we have not gotten as of yet. We still have not gotten leaderboard and they were supposed to be in GT5 at launch, here it is going on 4 years later and we still do not have them. This is IMO by far the most glaring omission in the game. How can you have a modern online racing game that does not have a full leaderboard system?

Then there are the little things that were in GT5 but are still not in GT6 like the ability to turn off collisions in online races, shuffle mode, ability to share and/or gift cars. All of which should be in GT6 by now. So far the updates we have gotten in 2014 are very few and very light on content. I think all of us were expecting to have at least 2 or 3 of the VGT cars by now, at least 1 new track, possibly a car pack and definitely at least 1 or 2 of the advertised features that were not shipped with the game.

It would be nice if they would at least issue a statement letting us know something about what is going on and give us some idea of how long we are going to have to wait to get some of the better features they advertised.

nice to see that someone else minds leaderboards . permanent and meaningful online leaderboards.
gt5/6 leaderboards at seazonal events and arcade are very limited. ...leaderboards in videogames exist for so long ...

again, PD seems to not understand us ... so many of us saying that PD should communicate more and better and ... nothing

this update is so small that i think its not the one intended in first place

I am confused about this communication ordeal? Where does it say that they have to say anything. They covered themselves by saying future. Thats an infinite time value.

I havent been in the forums long, but isnt this how its always been regarding PD and communication?

So, if they see the outrage as it is now, do you think they are going to come out and set themselves up by announcing when an update is coming? Imagine if they missed that deadline what would happen? Seems like a smart way to be silent, but yeah it would be great to know everything before it happens. Or would it?

Edit:
I disagree with myself in terms of it being a smart way to handle business but I mean smart at this point for them cause of the situation.

Yea, it sucks watching favorite game franchises on the decline. I had to watch it with Project Gotham. PGR2 was amazing. If they'd just kept cloning that exact physics/gameplay while adding new cars and tracks it would still be THE semi realistic arcade racer to play. Instead we got PGR3 which took away most of what made PGR2 great. It was ok but still a big step back in everything but graphics. Then there was 4 which felt like a last ditch cash grab from the start. Which basically is what it ended up being.

Then I've gotten to watch Forza's slow fall from greatness. FM1 was great. It was actually trying to be a simulation racing game then. FM2 was more greatness. Only bad mark on it was the last second (at least the notification was) removal of the car clubs from FM1. FM3, 4 and 5 have now devolved to little more than casual car collecting games with pretty good physics. Ones that seem more designed to generate DLC sales more than anything else at that.

Hope GT isn't heading in that direction. I really hope somewhere in some PD office right now they're putting together a update that's going to bring most, if not all, of the missing features in one update. Don't have a whole ton of faith that's what's actually happening. If they do I know I would quickly forget how irritated I am by this unreasonably long wait for features I paid for with zero status updates.

PD aren't doing anything awesome. They won't even fix basic game wrecking bugs like the pit stop bug, or other blatant bugs like the camber being wrong in the physics model.. PD sucks.

Well they did indicate that we would get the community features in Jan, sounded like they may come on Jan 1st along with the second part of the red bull event which ended up coming at the end of the month. They said we may get 2 large updates in Jan, we actually got 1 that was around 100mb but was reasonable to assume that we would have gotten 1 or 2 in the 1GB range with at least the community features in it.

They also said we would get that track in Feb and again made it sound like it would be early Feb but then Feb comes and goes and not a peep out of them.

So here they have told us we would get specific things and gave a time frame which came and went and they have yet to give us any idea as to why or when we may get the content that we were reasonably expecting.

Yes they need to communicate to us what is going on at this point and they also need to be careful when they decide to tell us we will get something added that they can actually meet that time frame else there will always be lots of people upset and that anger only grows when PD is slient about it.

If they are they should tell us and be more clear about stuff. That way they would avoid people bashing at them. communication is the key, PD.

Due to the silence and after this update that was an obvious sign that PD doesn't listen, or they simply don't give a 🤬 about feedback and suggestions, all I can do is just hope for the worse. My fear is that this is a sign of what we could be dealing with for the rest of GT6's life and probably in GT7.

I will be always checking for news and patiently waiting though...

Good to know, I was unaware of those announcements. I was reading the general updates they had in as "in future updates".

Do you mind pointing me in the direction of those announcements? (Not that I dont believe you, just so I know where to get those announcements).

I can understand the frustration to an extent then.

That doesn't excuse them to finally update the game when we all die. Yes, I'm exaggerating, but you get my point. If they can't live up to their promises in a timely manner, they need to let us know.

If they aren't reckless with their words, then they should be fine. The least they can do is reassure us that the features are coming.

Yes I was exaggerating the infinite number also 👍

Once again, my argument is not defending PD. I was simply playing devils advocate and being quite literal on the terminology in that particular post.

In terms of conducting a relationship with its customers have they ever been Grade A in that department? I dont know the answer for sure thats why I ask. So this is the way they are, unfortunate, but nothing says they have to do business this way or that.

I probably should have kept quiet because my argument gets spiraled out of control into this I agree with the ethics of PD. Not the case. I like GT6 but the "negativity" has gone into this Mob mentality it seems. Granted, maybe.

I looked earlier but was unable to locate the info about the community features. It was posted on the news page just before the game was released.

The info about the track coming in Feb was stated in the round table interview near the end of Jan, was also on the news page.

Agreed, I can wait but I hate expecting something that doesn't come or thinking it may be today, everyday only to not get it.

I just hope that at least a few of my friends are still playing when the other stuff comes online, many are getting bored and tired of waiting and fed up with expecting something that doesn't come.

While I agree with many of you in spirit - you may notice I was liking both sides, kind of in my sleep, unfortunately. :P But both sides have points of merit.

But on the above point, I have to quibble a bit. We already have a buggy GT6 in certain aspects, like the online pitstop bugs and others. What I really don't want are early features added with their own bugs to squash later, and half baked goodies that could be a lot more with another few weeks work.

I don't want GT6 to be overly patched, because this tends to make software less stable over time, as more and more patches are wedgied into the base code. And a mini-feature that's not nearly what it could be is just an uninteresting toy to me. I know I'm being parochial about it. But I think in this case, if you think about it in the sense of fewer patches and features with better quality coming down the pipes, I think it's wise to be patient and wait for things to be really done before we get them. Just a thought. ;)

Thanks but that was not what I was referring to, I managed to find it with a second search
https://www.gtplanet.net/gt6-launch-event-reveals-x2014-intro-movie-january-update-deltawing-more/
Here’s a summary of what we learned from the first day:

  • New Community Club features will not go live until January.
  • Dedication to improved DLC support and “Continued Updates” restated; new cars, tracks, features, seasonals will steadily become available for download in GT6.

This was the first mention of the community club features not being available on day one and it was said they would come in January

The info on the new track that was to come in Feb was here
https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turis...unori-yamauchi-nick-mcmillen-tamir-moscovici/

More than anything I want them to talk to us about what the hell is going on.

HAHA, PD explaining anything. Obviously they are better than the average developer which is why they never need to explain themselves to anyone or give anyone a heads up on anything. Remember, they are artists. As that Kaz documentary felt the need to reiterate every 5 seconds. Why maintain a dialogue with people outside of your office when you could just ignore them and have documentaries made about yourself instead.
