Perfect Balance's cars | Small update| 05/03/14

It looks so much better! Totally random though lol. Much better. If you've got some nice fitment I think you should show it off, and this color does a way better job of that than stupid gray.

Looking good. Great steering wheel too. Alcantara or leather? Hard to tell from the pic.
Leather, Alacantra wears too fast without proper gloves and whatnot.

Yeah, as soon as the grey got dirty it just blended with everything else in the wheel area of the car and didn't stand out at all. This will get dirty just as much, but at least I might be more motivated to clean it, since it will do a lot for the looks.

I had to drive the car a bit though, which got some dust on the wheels. They are dry but still had a bit of tackyness to them, and I hope the brake dust doesn't end up permanently sticking to the paint.

Looking very nice PB, perfect finish; no overspray. Any other mods to go? (other than painting the other side).

I'm totally in love with this. 👍

They kind of look like Advan TCIII's now.

Oh, and I think you should rattlecan the roof black.

I think you threw an extra I in there man. TCII is what they would be. TCIII is much more awesome. Yeah though, makes me wonder now if these wheels were intended to be a knockoff of them, whereas I just always passed them off as a generic 5 spoke wheel. Then again, so are the TCIIs, they just have awesome hollow spokes.

Roof is definitely going a satin black, but it needs a bit of bodywork, and I hate sanding, bodyfiller, more sanding, ect. (there is a reason I only did two of the wheels today. I had plenty of time.....)

On another note, I've got a few visual modifications in the mail. I don't know how everyone will feel about it, but we'll see. Might need to do some work to the driveway to be able to get my car in it anymore....

EDIT: Cool mailbox spoiler is a custom, one off mod.

You seriously have me looking all over the classifieds for an S13 hatch... I think I'm going to sell the two stupid cars I have and start all over.

Still not a very pretty color. I'm still not too sure where this car will end up, if it will continue to be a daily driver/weekend track car or if I will be buying something else to daily in the future. I'm not really sure, but I don't want to put a nice paint job on a car that will end up as a track beater, so I'm holding off on any kind of paintwork.

A co-worker resprayed his in candy apple red metallic.

The color looks kinda like this.

Do it man. You guys have access to cheap 180s. Transfer all parts = awesome.

Although I'd rather have a coupe/silvia than a hatch any day.

EDIT: Candy Apple Red would cost way too much for me to feel ok with beating on this car on a daily basis. I like cars with clean paintjobs, but I don't want to get mine painted just yet for the sole reason that I wouldn't let myself thrash it anymore, and that's exactly what it's for.

Now where's your RB25 swap? At least, assuming it's cheaper than a 26. A stock DET's 250 horses is plenty to get you all sorts of sideways.

Another drift buddy of mine and Bwag's, kid named Cody Tobe, got rid of his old SR20 this year for what I believe is an RB26. Last year he had a hard time keeping up with the more powerful cars. This year he takes dumps on everybody. Pretty awesome.

Why the hell? Bigger engine more power. SRs might be able to make some power, but it's still a weenie 4 cylinder anyway you stack it.

It's a massive lump of iron that messes up the whole weight balance of the car. Plus wiring and mounts which are a real headache.

If you want to swap something other than an SR20 in there, just go LSx. Easier, cheaper in the long run, and it's not as heavy as an RB or JZ...

I'm kind of trying to keep the car as a street car as much as I can, so I don't want to get into the crazy swaps, and rather have something that will bolt in relatively easy and have parts that bolt on and not have to make custom everything for it, so I was thinking the rb20. Install a roll bar, semi strip the interior (remove the torn up carpeting but leave the door panels/plastic bits) and keep the bodywork fairly stock.

IF I ever do blow it up/wreck it, or this car becomes full time track duty, then yeah, I'ma tear out the inside, cage it, tub the fenders and stick a V8 in there. It just makes sense.

The LSx series is better in every conceivable way than most engines Japan would put in any car we might put a V8 in. It's so much better that if I were over there I would pay the price to import one and then terrify the audience at drift events.

The only two ways their engines are better is if you like the sound, or love turbo lag.

I'm not 100% up on what the positives are other than a monster rev range, but I'm sure someone at Mazworx could inform someone that is interested as they specialize in that swap.

Thanks for doing such a thorough build thread. I'm supposed to be studying for a Calculus 3 test tomorrow, but this thread has been a fun read. Keep it up man, seems like you try to go the extra mile with your mods. Looks great and at no point along the way "ricer-ish" (I hate using that term but you know what I mean).

So it sounds like you want an SR20 so you can use factory stuff meant for an S13...

And it's not an SR, which IMO is a good thing. I would still go for the bigger engine though. POWAH!
