Tidy up? I guess it's different in the UK, but I think the XMB update is a waste. They added "tv/video services" with two things - Netflix and My channels, which is a folder for the other services. So....why not just put that folder under the video category?

Did that make too much sense?
 
I didn't think there was any need really, the UK already had a TV section on the XMB with all our catch up stuff and Play TV if you had it.

No, it's gone and there are no options, it's a bug. There is a post about it on the Playstation forums, with a few suggestions to try and get the icons back.

I have not tried any of them and quite frankly I shouldn't have to mess about like that to get them back, though I'll have to at some point.:banghead:

Did Sony even test this update? Its flawed- I shouldn't have to faff around to get my Video services back- I paid for my PS3, I have a right to use them.

Obviously not, I have got mine back on my main account by loading Vidzone, complete with updates as I hadn't been on it for ages, loading Home and the Store did nothing. The icon is still missing on my GTP account.:ouch:
 
Are you folks even looking beyond your noses? I updated in a few minutes, for the UK iPlayer and 4oD plus the rest are now bookmarks under the same section. Love Film is there also.

You might need to go and reload 4oD and the ITV one but they're all there.
 
New iPlayer is amazing! :drool:
So much better than just pretty much viewing it from the browser.
 
I noticed that in GT5 the screens load faster again. I was experiencing about 5 times the delay that used to be there for switching screens (for about a month or so). Now it's back up to speed again.

From my experiences most of the updates they release are flawed / buggy and it really does feel like sometimes they don't test the updates on every model and account for owners unique settings on different PS3's. Release now, fix later mentality like most other software out there today.

As for the update itself its yet again nothing to do with gaming functionality, mostly more 3D integration (peddling it!). The iPlayer update I think was separate from the firmware update and could be downloaded individually.
 
I'm trying to find the 3.70 update to download via my pc so I don't have to download it on 3 different ps3's, but it's not available on the Sony site. Has anyone been able to download this update via pc?
 
Oh wonderful, I did the update and now I've lost ALL of my TV 'players' including iPlayer and my friends list is only loading 7-8 people.

Jesus Sony, get a ****ing grip. Did they even bother to test this or not? Thoroughly pissed off now as I was looking forward to watching stuff but turns out I can't.

Luckily my XBox still works since Microsoft actually seem to know what they're doing when it comes to online gaming. Worth the subscription.

Just a quick post... I downloaded the 3.70 update and saw the new changes. The only thing affected so far has been some of my Save files for 3D Dot Game Heroes. Whenever I save and set a certain save point, it always takes me to the same location despite the fact I make a Save Game at a specific location.

Most of my other games seem to be fine with the update.


[UPDATE] 3D Dot Game Heroes works just fine. Disregard that.

I have made it a rule for about 2 years now to not update the PS3 firmware for at least a week after its comes out because more often than not people have some sort of issues with it being buggy and then sometimes the inevitable 0.01 release comes out a few days later or Sony pull it.

Sucks to hear that you guys have lost all the catch up services but at least you know the problem is widespread so hopefully something will be done quickly.

I wish Sony would just update the console once every 6 months or a year rather than every month (sometimes twice a month) because the more times you have to update the more times you run the risk of something going wrong.

Could have swore in the notes it stated something about moving the "TV" stuff under some new combined heading. Don't use any of it myself so maybe I mis-read something but you might want to check JIC.

There's meant to be an option above the LoveFilm logo that says 'My Channels' but it's not showing up for most people.:banghead:

Yeah, even tried to update Play TV just incase. Nothing is there and no Play TV update. Luckily my wife 'needs' to go shopping.

Again, 3.71 please.

In a sub older under My Channels are icons for iPlayer, ITVPlayer and 4OD. Selecting them will install dedicated apps which sit under the new heading.

......Or at least I assume they are all apps but have only personally installed the beeb so far. I got the same install prompts when I clicked on ITVPlayer under My Channels though.

Tried that last night, still nothing. Then, after about 5 attempts, it refused to let me log in again. :(
 
Mine are back now. On my main account loading Vidzone made the icon appear, on my GTP account I didn't do anything except play GT5 and eventually they have returned there too.:)

Thing is you should never have to go to that kind of trouble to get something to work. Could you ever see Sony saying in the install instructions... "just keep turning it on and off till it shows up" :lol:
 
@Moglet - Shame, mate. Good luck getting it fixed.

@Robin - you shouldn't but hey, them's the breaks (when it comes to *0 patches). The key point isn't the turning it back on and off repeatedly, rather the key seems to be accessing a PSN service.

I would take a stab in the dark and say the issue might be something to do with the regional nature of the services provided (TV) and a requirement that a region is detected before the correct package is installed/downloaded on the fly.

On a semi-related note, that is not listed in the release information, 3.70 also appears to contain new keys and looks like it has fixed a few [potentially] exploitable holes in the FW.

3.60+ users have reported they can still access PSN using the old school DNS trick but if history repeats, this access will be quickly revoked.

This 3.70 update is useless for normal users. PS Plus subscribers got it all, we get 🤬.

That's funny. I was a member of Plus, but didn't renew when it expired, somehow the system thinks that I am still a member of Plus.

I mean, I get the automatic firmware updates, but nothing else.
