I laughed at the epilepsy warning. Why would you be playing a gaming console if you have epilepsy that gets set off by playing gaming consoles is beyond me.
Probably to cover Sony's ***.

Sanji HimuraImportant MANDATORY update coming Febuary 8th from Sony. The purpose of this update is to formally close the Playstation Network Store in favor of calling it Sony Entertainment Network or SEN.
Sony explained that the main reason behind the name changes was that they wanted to create “a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.”
Do note, that current PSN account holders will not have to reregister, change your username or password, but you will have to agree with some new Terms and Conditions before you can formally sign into the network.

Wait, closing the store? Like the funds I have in there now will be useless after the update?????
Do you not have your main user account setup to default on start up? If you want to do it you just hit Triangle while over the user you want it to be and I think it is one of the options. Been a few years since I set it up though so that might not be right.
tomhart9Not at all. Don't worry, literally ONLY the name and probably terms will be changed.
Functionality etc will not be changed.

Oh because someone said the store will be shut down.
tomhart9Don't worry it isn't exactly closing 👍
thesixthaxisIndeed, it’s now infinitely better, with a quick HTML5 test kicking out a score of 80 (it had a zero before) and ACID3 scoring 99, which is remarkable (the Vita scores 53). Better still, YouTube and Twitter now work perfectly.
BWXBeen testing PS3 browser. OK, it is much more compatible with many more websites, but it is NOT faster. I've deleted cache and all that, etc.
At first it was really slow, then as I was testing out websites, I got a hang/freeze and had to reboot PS3. When I got back to web browser it seemed really fast for a few seconds, but then as I began opening different web pages, it slowed to a crawl and became unresponsive and I had to close all windows again.
While this is a HUGE step in the right direction, the PS3 Browser is still very slow, clunky, unresponsive, and buggy.
I wish they would just scrap the whole thing and let Google Chrome make a PS3 Browser and run it as an app like Netflix or something. Either that or fix all the problems for good..
And why, with a 500 GB HD, am I limited to 6 web pages? You should be able to open at least 10 or 15 if they would properly utilize HD for chaching. Oh well...
Getting media on to your ps3 just got a little easier. 👍With the release of PS3 firmware v4.10, gamers across the PlayStation Network are now not only scurrying around their consoles to find new, and often hidden features added by Sony, but are also exploring the upgraded web browser. However, with that upgraded browser now comes support for what could be considered a killer app on the PS3 Dropbox support.
If theres one thing that many, many PS3 owners have been longing for, it was Dropbox support on their consoles. For those not familiar with the service, Dropbox allows users to upload files from their computers (movies, music, etc.), and then download those files from just about anywhere, and now that anywhere includes the PlayStation 3. Dropboxs main site was previously unusable on the PlayStation 3, but is now fully functional (except for uploads from the PS3 itself, which may cause the system to freeze).
We tested everything from music to movies, all downloaded with no problems at all, and boy were the downloads fast! This is one incredible addition to the PS3 arsenal, and may very well have gone unnoticed by many. With Dropbox offering 2GB free just for signing up, folks will no longer have to worry about portable hard drives and USB thumb drives to move their content to their PS3 how cool is that!?

To that last paragraph, I'm no computer expert but wouldn't the browser use RAM, which is different than your HDD? HDD stores, RAM performs. (I think).
