Seems very exciting technology for racing games like GT. Driving on Mars, make it happen Kaz.

I bet we're looking at the reason for Driveclub's delay. Would be surprised if they didn't ship it without VR support.

i think this is not the reason... they could insert this via Patch... Best thing is to wait for more Information....

I'm probably not the first to say this, but I think the VR is a terrible idea. Likely the reason why DC is delayed, it'll probably more expensive that it's worth (to me), just like having a 3D, ooh cool, but how many of us used 3D in GT5? Which is one reason why GT5 was delayed. It's just another cheap selling point to make people buy the game resulting in a lot of PD's efforts going into this, rather than fixing what is needed in GT6/7.

The difference with 3D though is that people needed to buy a 3D TV which was a bit expensive. I recall at least one GTP member who enthused about it though. The VR headset will be a lot cheaper. I understand what you are saying about potential delays however - I suppose the truth about that info will never filter down to to the user level though.

VR headset might be way more expensive than a 3D TV depending on how it's produced and the features it might have, if it has a similar IR head tracking like a proper IR tracking device has (or a gyroscope or whatever) then it might be far more expensive.

2 mini FHD screens running at 1080p each, while also having to deal with power supply, lightweight structure, fancy materials, is not going to be cheap.

Here I'm hoping to be around 300 USD, but the more I read about it (and oculus rift for that matter), the more I feel drawn from it, seems like the same 3D TV BS of a few years back (only proper application of it ever was last years Gravity, and that was a movie).

What PS needs is a stronger 3rd party support, to see more AAA games, indies are cool but the console lacks games like Titanfall and FM5.

The next patch will include a lot of enhancements to the share function as well as disable the HDCP so you can record gameplay via HDMI without the use of a splitter.

I hope they fix that annoying bug where video stops being recorded when you press the PS button. Many a time I have done something awesome on BF4 and pressed the share button only to find the footage is from an hour ago.

You obviously haven't tried or been following the oculus rift. The new version of it is $350 and they are going to stay in that price range. These VR headsets are way better than I ever thought they could be. It's an entirely different experience than just a 3d tv and works much better than track IR. It's also just one screen not 2 tiny screens.

The rift works much better than I'm Sure you are imagining it does and I'm assuming the Sony version will too. I thought 3D was a waste of time for televisions. It's the one tech I never bought into or cared about. I don't even really like it at the movies. It doesn't work that well and seems like a gimmick to me. These VR headsets are not like that. They are the real deal and take gaming to an entirely new realm. I think all gaming platforms are going to need one if the industry markets these right and stays around that sub $400 price range like the oculus rift is doing. I thought one of these headsets would be thousands of dollars. I couldn't believe my friend said just rift was only $300.

Iracing with even the old rift which had terrible resolution was by far the coolest gaming experience I've ever had. I ordered the new dev kit that comes out in July and will be selling my triple screen setup just as soon as it gets here.

If Sony makes sure that every GameStop, walmart, target etc. have one of these in store to demo it will sell like crazy. They are going to have to get them on people's heads though. People just don't understand how far the tech has come. It's something you have to experience to appreciate and if Sony doesn't push it really hard and make sure every gamer has the opportunity to try it easily it won't sell. If they get people to try them then they will sell like crazy.

I finally got a PS4!!
I need to expand my friends list though so Im looking for casual gamers who like to have fun. I mainly play racing games and shooters/action/adventure kind of games.
at the moment I have AC4, BF4, and Killzone SF.
if you like racing games and shooters/action games then hit me up; FerrariThugs is my PSN!

Managed to pick up a PS4 today along with Infamous Second Son, the graphics are mind blowing!!
And if you think back to the PS3 launch with games like Heavenly Sword, we all thought the graphics were awesome then, but compare that to a recent release on the PS3, say The Last of Us and it's blown out of the water.

So in 4 years time we may look back on Second Son and think it looks crap. Makes you wonder how much more the PS4 has to give.

I would like to ask about this, are we expecting PS3 levels of improvment over the years, or a bit less since the PS4 structure makes it easier to code for?

I doubt we'll see such a jump this gen, but we will see improvements as drivers and engines improve. Also, it's possible that the OS can be refined to the point where some more ram can be allocated to games.

So im looking to maybe get a PS4 sometime this year, im saving up to get one and ive had a look around online at places like Game and Argos and all they seem to sell is the 500 gb ones...is that all Sony have at the moment? because that's a bit to much memory for me I don't need all that, and if that is all they do will they release smaller memory ones like 250 gig versions in the future?

It's the only size HDD at the moment and it doesn't seem likely they will go smaller. I believe around 408 GB of that is available after OS and what ever else and every game including discs install on the HDD take up anywhere from about 20-40GB(disc install). That space goes quicker than you realize. I'm also not sure that they could reduce the system price all that much by reducing the HDD size.

A smaller HDD wouldn't really make much difference to the price. Maybe they will bring out smaller versions, but who knows when that would be. You might also be surprised at how quickly 500Gb can get used up, certainly if you download a number of the PS+ games or play any of the F2P ones already out there and coming soon. There is also a certain amount you'll need if you intend on saving any amount of gameplay - though I'm not sure at present if that'll be exclusively via an external device.

EDIT: tree'd

Agreed, the difference at retail between a 500Gb SATA II HDD and a 250Gb model is only £11. The next change in storage size I see there being is 1Tb, increasing it rather than decreasing it.
