By more realistic I mean they got those figures using analysis of millions and millions of connections, if you just use Speedtest results they are easily skewed because what if only the fastest people use them? You need to analyse all connections to get a true figure and so the fact of the matter is a large part of the world is still not ready for this, hence those results.

Even in the UK where there are plenty of people with gigabit connections, 100Mbps connections there are plenty of people with < 3Mbps in more rural areas.

True, even if it seems they gonna get 20Mbit if i understand it right. But if they switch to it is another question. And then it remains again, are they really the target? There needs to be some that gets this and if its good many will follow. I see it as a Apple TV or Smart TV epidemic. Suudenly its great to have Netflix and HBO and stream your movies. And many actually start upgrading their accounts to faster internet. I think this trend is more seen in the statistics within avarage internet connection. If more like or use stream services then the avarage internet connection speed will go up. I think it will even without PS4 of course. If TV can be streamed with 720p or more then i guess streaming games is possible too.
PS4 and probably Xbox720 will probably add to the trend. And hopefully within 3years we have great connections everywhere (with 4G and otherWiFi connections )

So, someone else shares my fears...

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli doesn't sound too impressed by the prospect of a new console generation -- in fact, he claims Crysis 3 running on a high-end PC is already ahead of future competition. The ruling factor here, according to him, is price.

"Without breaking NDAs that are in place, realistically, from purely a price point perspective, it is impossible," he told Eurogamer. "It's impossible to package $2000-3000 into a mainstream, let's say $500 console. I'm not saying they are $500 consoles. They may launch a console at $2000, but the consumer pricing is usually much lower than that.

"So, given consumer pricing, and given the cost of production of a gamer PC and the amount of watt of power it needs, which is like a fridge, it's impossible."

Yerli isn't sharing some astounding government secret, of course. Consoles are cheaper and easier to use than high-end gaming PCs, which is of course the one major benefit to owning them. That, and first-party exclusives. Still, if you have the means, PC gaming is always going to be where it's at.

"If you look at PC gaming, that has changed also," Yerli continued. "The whole modular way you can design a PC today, with two, three or four graphics cards in them, and you can water cool them and overclock to infinity, that didn't exist even six or seven years ago. You just bought one or maybe two graphics cards and then you were super enthusiastic.

"It's very difficult to compete with that. People have these massive nuclear power plants standing in their rooms that will run your games really fast. It's hard to compete with."

I'm intrigued by what Microsoft and Sony are cooking up, but I have to say PC gaming is exciting me the most right now. It's not all about the graphics, either -- PC has become the new home of horror games, as well as a place where indie and niche titles can thrive while so-called "AAA" publishers remain terrified of trying new things. Right now, it seems that every major frustration I have with the videogame industry is based in the console sector -- and they're issues way more infuriating than graphical drawbacks.

That said ... the lovely graphics help. Oh boy do they help!

Found it on Destructoid. And it sums up my thoughts. Kinda.

Nothing we don't know already,PC will always be ahead but us console owners can live with that

@patriot it's still has 6 month to a year in it's life time

I know I can live with that. Console's just work and don't rely on a crummy OS to run. Plus a keyboard and mouse is just archaic imo.

EDIT: whoops!

Fixed.:)

I think the Crytek CEO just wants to chalk up PC gaming to rake in more sales.

People seem to forget that great hardware does not always mean great games. Crysis is fun to play at first, but it doesn't have the staying power like Zelda or Metal Gear.

I think Italy (and other crappy countries like us) are not ready for cloud gaming. We either need better connections and politicians. Actually we can play online but I higly doubt our average connection will be enough for cloud gaming.

Would love to see PS4 with voicerecognition. It would be perfect fit for the console. Especially like games as GT5.
Like:
Home and you get to home menu.
Oilchange. (hopefully not in GT6)
Buy car.
Track: Nurburgring (that may cause problems for some ;) )
Ferrari and you get sorting in garage.
House Ferrari (get to new dealer Ferrari)
Plenty of great uses in game. And of course outside too.

Same issue here, but alot of european, asian and NA places are more than capable i.e alot of customers will use that feature.

I for one Don't buy consoles untill the first or second price cut and it by then it would have enough games and sequels that returning to previous gen games won't matter, and for Nostaliga's sake I'll just fire up the PS3 if I want I am not going to sell it.

I'm Enjoying Crysis 2 right now on PS3 and I'm happy with it and Crysis 1.

According to VG charts PC version of Crysis only sold 690k and Crysis 2 sold less. PS3 version alone outsold the PC version of Crysis 2. I'd say that is competing where it matters. Way to stick it to the fan base that keeps them in business.

I couldn't be more hyped. That PS3 Exclusives video made me realize just how many exclusives I've played on PS3.

Nothing wrong with Windows and PC's support any controller you can think of.

Anything but archaic.

I don't have to reinstall the PS3 or Xbox OS every 6 months or so. Sure windows supports controllers fine, but having a full keyboard for button mapping and remembering each mapping for each game? Not fun in the least. PC gaming :yuck:

It's probably because they didn't have anything to make a best-of compilation for the Vita. Like a Greatest Hits album from a band who only charted with one single.

Lol.

To each their own.

The CEO stating that the PC is a great platform to be on is not "sticking it to" anyone. It is a solid platform with great digital distribution opportunities where developers can make their own rules without being stuck in a 7-10 year hardware slump. Which, has been said by countless developers and reinforced by the Crytek CEO, severely restricts game features.

Crytek is moving to F2P games. The platform for that to be successful is PC. Also, lets not forget they are the developers of the CryEngine and not just Crysis.

odd they did both portables together .

Teaser for a teaser for a teaser for a console you say

That or nothing...

Not enough material to cover to give both handhelds their own video I guess.

But, we could possibly see a video tomorrow on motion gaming (Move) / augmented reality (WonderBook) if Sony thinks those are important enough. Which I don't personally.

Their whole thing is supposedly suppose to be "new ways to play" for PS4 (or going off the leaked controller pictures... cramming move down our throats).

That is probably it

We might get a wonderbook teaser(highly doubt)and we already got the Move in the PS3 video.

Anyway roll on tomorrow

He said consoles can't compete as if its a big deal and people should all go PC just for nuclear powered graphics. I'm not questioning the platform. Please don't turn this in to PC vs Consoles discussion. I said nothing negative about PC's or anything at all about it other than their own game sales which is unrelated to PC hardware etc.

Obviously you were offended by what he had to say.

You said he "stuck it to you." You being the console customers (that keep them in business) that bought Crysis 1,2 because that's the only software they develop.

I am not trying to turn it into a platform debate; but apparently your sentiment is a little far.
