POLL: Do You Like The <1,000,000 Cr. Gift Restriction?

You are defending it so that makes it obvious you are in favour, anyway im allready board of you.

Enjoy yourself flaming everyone, idiot. :dopey:

You're exactly right, I am in favor of the game. I've made that clear. But I still never said the updates made the game better. I simply didn't.

And continue to hurl your insults around if you want, but being called an idiot by somebody who is "board" with me is of zero concern to me.

The problem with using the value of cars on the Marketplace as a yardstick for how duping has affected you is that trading doesn't exist in GT5. GT5 has/had a gifting feature. GT5 does/did not have a trading feature (and in fact PD has taken many measures since the game came out to limit it even more).
You can't claim that duping ruined an aspect of the game for you when that aspect wasn't actually an official feature in the game.

Not necessarily to everybody.

Valid.

Oh, I will, don't worry! No one is forcing me to play GT5 and actually I have stopped playing since I was hoping for some good fixes. Now it's obvious they won't happen! So GT5 is over for me...

I just expressed my disapointment with GT5 1.07 and I have stoped hoping that it will ever become a mediocre racing games (it was a bad racing game before 1.07 and very bad now!). If PD wants a game for their apologists then GT5 obviously isn't for someone who even remotely likes and cares about racing!

So, as I said have fun B-Spec grinding, wall-riding automatic A-Spec and having your PS3 on for weeks to earn enough virtual credits! That's not racing, that's an addiction!

I want a racing game, not a boring RPG!

Except it is. I care a lot about racing. That's why enjoy actually racing on the game. And why I could care less about getting all the most expensive cars to feel like I've somehow beat the game or whatever. To me, I never beat a GT game, I just enjoy the racing.

Really, when you think about these facts concerning this game, it's apparent how negligently it has been designed.

If it's a "driving" game then don't have such an absurd credit system.

If it's a "racing" game then at least put some kind of effort into the AI and racing structure.

The idea to specifically design the races to go from 12th place to 1st place in 3 laps is one of the dumbest notions I have ever heard of for a racing game, much less any game that calls itself "the real driving simulator".
The AI are nothing more than moving obstacles, not "opponents" or even "average opponents".

And when did you ever enter any race series and start from 5th place every single time despite the car you had or your previous results? Again, don't call yourselves a driving simulator and design it this way.

Racing is "driving" too. You don't get to nerf that part if you are calling yourself a "driving simulator".

Actually, I have looked through the marketplace and found that I couldn't trade if I wanted to. Why? Because everyone and their brother has an X2010, FGT, and all the other amazing cars everyone wants... with 0 miles on them. Well that's fine for them, they'll just dupe the car to another person and get a car in return whether the other guy duped or not. Which means that me and my non-duping self will lose out...

...Not only that, but the over-flooding of extreme cars means anything that's not 5 million or more is essentially worthless. So if I want any car at all from someone else, be it a rare car for 40k or even close to 700k I'd have to give up a Minolta or Toyota Seven and they give up nothing. Not only that, but the next guy is offering 5 x2010s all in different colors for the same car.

So it does kind of affect me.

This is why I've stayed away from trading. The problem now is that I can't get any super special cars or even offer one to someone else. :/

Duping and flooding the market totally ruined the trading of guns on Borderlands. While PD current solution isn't the best, at least they're trying to do something[/].

Besides, earning a nice car rather than having it given to you makes it more special.

Hmmm cant agree on that. At the beggining sure was a pain in the derrier, peoe that bdayed baught you out on deals. But last days (even before) people were trowing away the expensive cars like : i am looking for a viper concept... Got for trade an sauber c9/ bmw V12..... so u could get one pretty cheap if u had the right ones people looked for. But even that resulting in people not spending their money but rather traded a duoed one, result these people have tons of cash banked and we others not, got the bad end again.

Racing! GT5!

Hahahahahaa! You are hilarious!

GT5 has nothing in common with racing! Don't you know the official defense line of the GT5's apologist? "It's a driving simulator!"

Trading has been the saving grace of this game.

Without the garage full of nice cars to pick from *thanks to trading* I would have given up on this game a long time ago.

Anyone who approves of this change is a selfish SOB with issues that need sorting.

it couldnt have been said any better!!! i finally turned off my ps3 today. after it finished running the third b-spec 24hrs of lemans. i, wait for it, turned it off!!! i also didnt bother updating. but i have been running 9hr races after 4hr races after 1000km races after indy 500s after 9hr races after x2010grinding at indy after 9hr races for the past infinite number of weeks. if i leave for a certain amount of time or go to sleep i have to leave a b-spec race running that lasts just long enough. more work than a job and more attention and supervision than a new born baby. it is an addiction.

Hahaha aww diddums... no more duping X1's for you.
You can still trade , just not the rare car's. You will get over it, if not i'll hear bout ya on the news i guess.

I'm glad your pleased that an advertised feature of the game has now been made pointless.

You are the perfect consumer - someone who pays his money and isn't bothered if he gets what he paid for. :dunce:

I think I'll continue driving time trials, racing online, testing cars with friends and continuing to enjoy the best driving simulation on console. Maybe tomorrow I'll go buy the real trading simulator.

Couldn't have put it better myself!

Everyone plays the game differently, and always has -- just nobody outside of your family and friends knew how you like it or even cared. Developers only cared if you bought in the first place.

Now we have to exist within the consensus that is the internet. The highest nails are pounded down, and virtues such as individuality and creativity can be shunned.

The only compelling reason I can think of to lock both the gift limit (less than 1,000,000) and gift frequency (1 time per day per IP address) is to prevent people from cashing in on places like ebay. But then I think about that, and people are just trading time for money, which is their prerogative. No one is forcing anyone to pay anyone for a virtual car.

I've noticed a lot of people are calling this a game, and it has been entertaining, but it is advertised as a driving simulator. That's why we spend additional money on fake steering wheels and pedals. I know most of us enjoy driving around in simulated environments in simulated cars we'd never have the chance to drive.

Even if this simulation is in fact a fantasy for some, or utter seriousness for others, I'll leave you with this: Just remember, there is plenty of duping restrictions attached to the car in your driveway, and plenty of heavy grinding to be done at your day-job in order to buy and maintain your real-life cars. Let's keep the restrictions where they are, and let people play the game how they'd like.

Or they could just add the option in the settings and configuration menu:
Allow duping: Yes/No

Now they have completely ruined the game.

So much for giving my friends FGTs/Ferrari's/X1s because I'm generous.

Maybe tomorrow I'll think about how GT5 rushed a game and is covering their tracks with a bunch of fancy updates they could have possibly had sorted out from the get go. Or maybe in a week they'll give us some updated cars? Nah probably not.

Anyone think that the real reason this happened is the millions of fake psn accounts that have been created for bday glitches and duping? I have a lot of rare gt5 cars I bought myself and have duped a few times, but I use a second account of my own not 10 fake accounts. That is probably a huge issue to SONY not PD

Gifting = Trading - I think you're being a little pedantic considering the thread is called "Gift restriction"

Using the term "trade" implies that equal value is being assured in the exchange. Gifting carries no such implication. So for PD to intend gifting does not necessarily mean they intended trading.

Cars...with...val..ue? Perposterous! :) This a step in the right direction for anti-duping measures, but I believe that the limit should be upped to 3-5 million credits, so there will still be no 45634 X1's and 56741 330 P4's in the marketplace, but other rarer cars can still be traded.

Gifting = Trading
Except it doesn't, and PD have changed several aspects of the game since it came out explicitly to discourage using it as a trading system.

When people are saying how this restriction on the system is a good thing because it makes cars on the marketplace more valuable (and thus making them think that it is their business how other people play the game), it is a very important distinction to make.

I don't see the word "trade" anywhere on that page.

But you see the word "gift"
Gift
Here you can exchange items between your friends. You can give and receive cars, parts, and museum cards for completing your museum card collection.

It doesn't say you can gift only some cars. It says you can gift cars, you would assume this would mean ALL cars...

It's a GT5 design pattern it seems...
Some cars look good, most look unbelievably bad...
Some cars handle good, others are a joke...
Few have cockpit, most do not...
Very few tracks look good, most look worse than the PS2 tracks...
Very few cars sound good, the rest are vaccuum cleaners...
Some tracks have night and weather, most do not...

The only consistent thing in GT5 is the bad shadows, graphical glitches, bad AI, boring, unexciting gameplay and GRINDING...

GT5 is a joke, now it's not even a good joke!!

I agree.

But my point is that they advertised Gifting and have now rendered it useless. They should have advertised "Gifting of items of low value" or "Receive a gift from your friends that you probably already own due to its low price"

Now you've made a valid point. But there still is no basis to the claim that PD advertised a trading system.

Probably not, but what they should do is: (since they have effectively removed the only legitimate way to hope to expand ones garage) make all >1,000,000 cars that are not premiums...PREMIUMS. Maybe adjust the price a little bit so it's more friendly, and make them all premiums so everyone has the chance to acquire them. The fact of a car being "rare" carries little to no meaning anymore because most of these rarities are in the >1,000,000 range, and because we can't make deals with others to enjoy these rarities, there is no point in bragging that one owns a rare vehicle. For example: the fact that I have both Chaparral race cars with 0 miles (and essentially all other historic race cars with 0 miles), means nothing, because there is nothing to gain. I want a modern standard race car that is extremely rare? Guess I'll have to do the license test glitch and check the UCD every 5 minutes until it comes up. IF it ever comes up.

PD, just pull a few all nighters and make the damn standard cars everyone looks for premium.

I never said otherwise. I was objecting to labeling it as "trading." Nothing more, nothing less.

Did I talk about trading? I talked about gifting!

Very true! Your posts seemed to be an extension of pgzzz's argument, who did talk about trading, and I got the two of you confused there for a moment. My fault! :)

This is why I shouldn't stay up this late

Yes, people are going to RAGE about not being able to GiftTrade cars to each other, but we can turn this to our advantage.

People will rage at PD for such a bad update that they may create a real form of "Trading" with cars close to equal value.

Please people, look at this in a good way. This may be a wrong, but it still can be followed up with a right. 👍

Get over it, buy/win your cars the proper way like the minority of us do...... Its a game, cant believe people are effin n blinding bout this....
*play the game the normal way
*buy/win your cars the normal way
*then drive it knowing the fact you've earnt it...
