Porsche and EA agreed the "pact" was hurting them both. Maybe Porsche missed out on those generations from GT1-6.
AM, Corvette and Dodge were in from day one. Porsche competitors. Dunno.
A Porsche VGT in GT6 surely, would not have been bound by any agreement with EA. Would it?

I would believe the Porsche name is what defines the deal.

I am not going to waste an hour of my time searching for one line of text, so you can give up on your little online bullying campaign.
  1. Copy your claim into Google (add quotation marks if necessary)
  2. Link the source that backs up your claim
  3. ???
  4. Profit!
If it takes you an hour to do that then your researching skills are far from efficient.

Wow, someone making a claim and even using the race card as a excuse not to back up a claim. That's a new one.

Anyhow, I'm actually interested in that comment regarding Ruf. Is this in contempt or was it simply him saying that its not the real deal (which I'm sure many of us know anyway)? Thought it was abit of a odd and could be interpreted as some sort of bitter attitude towards them, that or them just amazed at how the devs all these years have basically had to make a substitute for their absence because of their deal.

I love the comments in the article about RUF. Porsche and EA both deserve much hurt for their doings.

I can see Kaz's face as translator-san says during the GTS launch event "we won't have Porsche in this game, but we hope to have them in the next game."

Any contempt for RUF or developers would be tragically misguided. Surely they know exactly who to thank for their status (or lack of) in games.

It might've been mentioned before, so sorry if this is a repeat.

My question is could EA buy back the Porsche license? If they could, I would'nt be surprised the slightest if they did. At the moment though, I think this is a great thing. Finally having Porsche available in more games will be quite nice 👍

...Judging from the tone of the language used in the interview, I don't think EA will. Who knows.

The statement about both agreeing that the Deal is "No longer Favorable" (and looking at the mass decline in the sales of NFS) more then likely point to EA not interested in trying again and even if they are, I think Porsche are even less willing to.

It's not conspiracies, it's a debate. And in a debate, you need a side with the rose-tinted glasses off, that sees different options and has different opinions. That's what keeps the conversation alive.

Highest selling racing game or not, they've only released 2 games in the last 7 years, and nothing on the current gen... Why would Porsche's PR people consider giving the rights to Polyphony Digital first if they can't be promised their assets are going to be used in a timely and correct matter?

And, how can an LMP like the 919, that was built to follow a very strict and specific set of rules from a real racing organisation even stand a chance of competing against the VGT cars we see in the footage going against 908s and R18s, that are built out of the minds of engineers and designers who were told to create a car with technologies that do not even exist for a series that does not exist either? Where does a turbocharged V4 with an electric motor (I'm dumbing this down here) compare with a laser pulse motor, or a hydrogen fuel cell, or pneumatic cylinders (which doesn't actually make sense) and a 7L V10 that somehow makes the car weigh less than the current LMPs? Unless Porsche "builds" a VGT car, but then with PD's quick-time integration, that would get added to the game about 2-3 years later, and then we're back to square one. The very basis of the VGT vs LMP Gr.1 in GTS is flawed, but that's another story for another thread.

My point is, these are all details that might not be important to the PR people at say, Hyundai, Mazda or Audi, but given Porsche's history, it might be something that ticks them off. Again, this is speculation, but it's something to think about before going off on PD or before hoping too much... I can't imagine Ferrari being too happy about a 458/488GT3 virtually competing with a VW Golf built to similar specs.

Still, there's no real reason for them to not want to add their cars to GT, solely based on that. Having cars in a game is pretty much free publicity, so there they have nothing to lose.
About competing with fictional cars or not, if you asked Porsche why they wouldn't want their cars to compete, let's say, with that Bugatti VGT, they wouldn't be able to give you a straight answer. If the cars are balanced, their car loosing for a VGT in a racing game will solely depend on its driver, a driver with no relation whatsoever with Porsche, so Porsche is not getting their reputation touched in any way and neither is loosing money. So, they can't find a real reason to be "offended" by the presence of VGTs.
All that matters to them is real life, they won Le Mans 24h, apart from that, everything else is just free publicity to their feats and cars.

There are more serious cases of fictional vs real life. Ace Combat is one example, where you see fictional aircraft shooting down real aircraft. It's a much more serious matter, since it involves, well, war equipment and security matters. Do you see Lockheed Martin complaining? No. Boeing? Nope. Not even Russian manufacturers. So why would a car maker adopt an attitude like that?

I do think it is amusing that it would have apparently taken an hour for the person who had actually seen this supposed interview to find a link to it even though it is on GTP, but the people who have never even heard of it before it was mentioned here were expected to waste even more of their time with no basis to start from and no real reason to believe it actually existed.

My question is could EA buy back the Porsche license? If they could, I would'nt be surprised the slightest if they did. At the moment though, I think this is a great thing. Finally having Porsche available in more games will be quite nice 👍
If they could it probably would have already happened. There had been rumblings in the past when it was expiring that it was going to be up for grabs (every few years it seemed), and EA just renewed it anyway. It seems that Porsche wants to be more hands on with things than they were in the past.

...I'm more interested in Porsche's back catalogs. Just thinking of driving a ducktail 2.7 RS or a silver 550 Spyder on a nighttime Nurburgring makes me break out in goosebumps.

Modern Porsches are nice too, but to me they aren't as interesting as their older cars. Seeing how the car list might look when GT:S goes on sale, I fear there won't be any classic Porsches, which is a shame. Assuming, there will be Porsches included in the launch line up, of course.

Thinking about driving a 1975 911 Turbo on the ring gives me goosebumps.

It's never been used on me before. Quite amusing actually, I got a great chuckle out of it:lol::lol:
