It is good we have option to chose.
Sure, lots of customization options are always welcome, everyone can play as he pleases.

And if we're talking about customisation, I wonder if some day Project CARS will offer performance tuning options like in Forza or Gran Turismo 1-6 games. It would be mind blowing, if we would be able to create our own racing machines from the ground up. I guess Ian Bell haven't mentioned this feature yet in interviews he had.

I don't think that's the philosophy of Project CARS at all. The game's intended to be a race what you want as opposed to a car collecting experience. Closest I can say on customisation was that Ian wanted a custom livery system built in but that looks to be put back to PC3.

I see, that's more pick up and play philosophy and it is the way to go, but...

I heard Ian talking about beating Forza and Gran Turismo, so car collecting factor is important here, and I think it's crucial if you want to take their place. Well, at least in Forza case, because GT already dropped its tuning system and huge car base in favor of more arcadeish style formula...

Project CARS doesn't have to have hundreds of cars in it, but more road cars and ability to boost their performance can be overkill in tandem with great physics engine it has. When I played GT5 and GT6, I loved to buy regular cars and modify them with more efficient parts, to fit in unofficial 500, 550, 600 Performance Points online race classes. That was great experience, and you get lot of GT and Forza fans attention if you do something similar.

I don't think he means in terms of that. To beat competitors, you don't necessarily have to copy them. Actually, if you do that you're just going to match them. Having a system like that isn't really going to help you beat Forza/GT. You've got to look at what they do badly/not at all.

For example, GT doesn't have weather. PCARS does. Can it still improve on that? Absolutely.
Forza doesn't really have a comprehensive driver career. (Buy this car, spec it and do some races isn't exactly comprehensive.) PCARS does. Can it improve on that? Absolutely.

I understand what you're saying, but what really draws me in is having a career with actual car classes offering proper BoP leveling and endurance racing. GT just says here's a smattering of semi-related cars, go chase the rabbit in a short sprint. I guess I wouldn't be opposed to being able to "build" on your (street) car as long as it doesn't take away from proper class racing.

I would rather leave the car collecting to Forza and GT. PC is pretty much the closest thing we have to a new TOCA game and I would like to see them continue down that path and including even more disciplines.

Having said that, I would still like to see some form of owner mode, preferably similar to what Dirt 4 did.

That's exactly what I'm trying to postulate here :D As @jake2013guy said, keep what PC does the best and improve on that even further, but don't stand in one place, move further, add features I mentioned, and you have absolute king of racing genre on all platforms.

But in the end, this scenario is too optimistic. Money is elsewhere.

Personally I would be worried about performance upgrades in PCars 3 for example. I like Project Cars as a archive of motorsport. Having possibility to tune up race car with strict specs would be strange.

Performance upgrades fits much better with street cars or track day cars. Maybe situation when we can upgrade street cars and turn them into Track Day cars or drift cars could be fun, but all race classes should have performance upgrades blocked. I hate this tuned up GT3 cars faster than LMP 1 from Forza or Gran Turismo etc.

Totally agree, race classes should be as they are. I didn't like tuned GT3, GT500 etc. classes in GT6 either. It's unrealistic and breaks the point of having specific race class cars in game. Ability to modify street cars and specific Road and Track Day classes is different story, and can be really sweet addition to the franchise. Imagine that some day there will be "Sunday cup" in PC career calendar :embarrassed: like a tribute to good old Gran Turismo.

Not gonna happen, but the way Shift/Shift 2 rewrote customization. By upgrading your car, one could actually see the interior change. I want a weekend racer as my daily. Just upgrade the steering wheel, racing bucket, brakes and suspension. I want an all show no go. Add a widebody kit.

Wouldn't hurt SMS to add some of those features in PC3. I'd just want to add a roll cage in the Audi S1. This way, it meets the virtual racing regulations for production car racing. No roll cage, no competitive racing.
If I choose to run without a roll cage, I'm just good to do track day time trials or practicing. Just like real life.

My avatar is a race car, Yet, it doesn't have all the aero. This is the kind of customization that I love. Not having canards, doesn't mean it's not a serious race car.

We can want all of these things, but keep in mind that it would take away from the rest of the game. There are only so many dev resources to go around. I'd rather they focus on doing all the other things the best they can than trying to do a mod system.

Maybe not now, maybe not in PC3. But in the future it is worth consideration. For now SMS should concentrate to establish firm ground as a Racing sim Franchise. To be more recognizable and to be closer in sold copies to giants like Gran Turismo or Forza. I hope PC3 and PC4 won't go too casual in the future like those "giants"

Dirt 4 doesn’t deserve to be that high up. Unfortunately red bulls way of deciding is throughnvotingf and some devs are more vocal around the existence of this vote than others.

I have 2 things I want to bring up.

1: I am really enjoying doing all of the manufacturer events and invitationals! Im 80 hours in and hadnt touched those, but they are actually very refreshing from doing the standard career. I really like the variety with the race type. Also, it seems the ai balancing is fairly good on these. I set the ai at 60% and 73% aggression, and for the most part all of the events are slightly easy for me to win, but the key is they are consistent. The only problem being some of the historic events are a bit too easy.

2: Please. Please. Please. SMS READ THIS. Allow the AI racers to get penalties. There have been dozens and dozens of restarts where I will get to turn one, cant see the boundaries of the track due to being surrounded, and ill just follow the car in front of me. Turns out that car in front was out of bounds, and now I have a "return to x position" or "slow down to avoid penalty". It really ruins my immersion when the ai can either squeeze me out of the track and I get a penalty, or they can go out of bounds themselves and still dont get a penalty/warning.

Not game breaking, but a very annoying thing for singleplayer races.

It’s so which graphical mode is supposedly the beast mode. Quality or resolution?
It truly depends on what is most important to you. If resolution is your make or break, go for that. If track activity/details is for you, go for it. If frame rate is your thing, do that.

I figured that bit, it’s just very difficult to tell which one is the better looking. If the resolution is dynamic then I guess the quality mode must be but I don’t know.

Gotcha. You'll just have to play around with them then to see what suits you best. I would tell you what I'm using but I haven't played yet (long story).
