I just have feeling that SMS is treating their new audience (more casual players) as idiots. You know. Remove all more complicated stuff because new casual players will get lost and confused. I never understood this type of treatment. Why not try them to get past those casual racing bariers? Why not introduce pit-stop in nice, simple and fun way? Just like GT Sport did it. Or for example realistic car classes? They really need to have this kind of Forzas mash up every time? Project Cars isn't unique game anymore it is just another Forza copycat. I hope SMS will see that someday and will try to make game which will appeal to both motorsport fans and casuals.

I believe those that stick around after the announcement of sim features removal are willing to accept the game for what it is trying to be, the cars and track list is just the newest things to be discussed and also a selling point for some people.

There is just so much can be talk about a removed feature, it is gone and any amount of complain won't bring it back now. At best we will see them return for the next game if it exist.
This is exactly my point of view. I could have considered PC3 as a buy if SMS had given me the ability to create custom championships with consistent car classes. I don't know how SMS didn't think of this, I think it would have made a big difference to people.

I don't really care for custom championship since the career mode seems to much better structured game now but the mix classes by having GT4 cars bump up to GT3 stats annoy me more than I expected that I'm skipping it.

Exactly. If I will be able to set real car classes then I will try this new approach. Without that. I will ignore this entry.

Future predictions... Codemasters disband SMS in the same way as the Evo team after PCars 3 fails to sell as well as they’d like, but take the series back to the more sim focussed direction for a follow up but this time having more control over the direction of the next game.

I think they know they can’t compete with the likes of Forza and Gran Turismo but look to fill the gap of a more sim focussed title for consoles much akin to the DiRT Rally series.

For me that’s a best case scenario if the new game doesn’t do so well. Worst case scenario, the team get disbanded and assigned to work on other Codemasters titles and we never see another Project Cars title.

Don’t get me wrong, Id love for the new game to be a huge success meaning we definitely see a follow up that perhaps take on board the criticisms and finds a balance between what they envision and what fans of the games want in terms of features. For me though I find the direction of this new game a very huge risk and looking at how poorly last years Grid did it’s definitely going to be tough for them. Hope I’m wrong though.

Codemasters already has:
F1 series
Dirt and Dirt Rally series
Grid series

They could assign SMS to work on the new British Championship racing game (the new TOCA).

Pcars 3 is Published by Bandai Namco. I think they had a deal to end after being bought by Codemasters. So they have to make a game as Codemasters company and published by Codemasters.

I have a feeling PCars 3 is being rushed to end up Bandai Namco deal quickly and start working on real game for Codemasters.

To be honest I won't be mad if SMS will make more realistic version of RaceDriver GRID (with Pit-Stops this time for example)

New BTCC game is already being made by Motorsport Games.

I doubt Codemaster will disband them for this since Codemaster has nothing to do with it, whether it succeed or fail Codemaster didn't exactly waste a bunch of money to make failed game like Onrush.

They disbanded the studio but a lot of the workforce were retained.

They could assign SMS to work on the new British Championship racing game (the new TOCA).

Aside from that being the worsr idea ever, Motorsport Games is heading up BTCC with 2 ex Codemasters guys at the helm, Steve Hood, who did wonders in the early days of their F1 efforts and Paul Coleman who has an exreemely passionate and dedicated guy who spearheaded the first Dirt Rally.

I remember when Codemasters brought the Driveclub/Evo team into their fold, prior to Onrush, and they were saying at the time that they wanted to grow to be the worlds leading racing game studio. That’s definitely another possibility, although I’m sure Motorsport Games that do the NASCAR Heat games have announced that they’ll be doing a new BTCC game.

I definitely think Codies could want to have a series that’s more sim focussed (like Project Cars) for consoles, and particularly for next gen, rather than be competing with GT and Forza.

Realistically the only other sim title for consoles we could potentially see one day is maybe Automobilista 2. They said Assetto Corsa Competizione would never come to consoles but personally think they’d be mad to not try and tap into the console market rather than exclusively PC, especially with the extra horsepower the next gen consoles will give them.

Looks like that SMS is evidently used to "worst ideas ever" lately, so it could work out well for them.

That Gameriot video in @MagpieRacer 'spost above looks fun. The AI didn't look too bad either. I wonder what difficulty they were on. They weren't that fast but seemed to fight for position at least.

Now, if only he had turned the music and markers off first. Especially the music. That's the first thing I do. And I don't think markers of any sort (whether that be lines or whatever)actually help someone learn the track. I find the best teacher is hotlapping. Once you've gone off on the same corner 3 times in a row, you start to find markers and learn how to not do that. Markers just seem to help get you around the track without actually paying much attention to the track itself. Either way, it can be turned off

So they lowered the AI options down from 120 on the slider to just three options. There is now rubber banding
Watch this video, in every lap, when the player approaches the Maggots/Beckets/Chapel complex. Every single lap, he can incredibly easily catch the AI in front of him in the middle of the complex, even if the AI entered it 100 metres ahead. And after it, the AI is pretty fast again in the straight that follows. If this is not blatant rubber banding, then it is very very bad AI balancing between different corners.

The game really starts to look and feel like it had a lower budget than PCars2. Might explain why most of the new circuits are fictional and the real ones being added are ovals and the cheap to licence Shanghai F1 track

I was under the impression that the Shanghai is a fictional street circuit. If I'm not mistaken, the new licensed tracks are Interlagos and Jerez.
There are more new tracks of course but they were DLC for PCARS 2.

Yeah Shanghai is a street track, there's no Shanghai GP track in the list. Likewise Jerez isn't in the list either.

Many are saying the handling is similar to Driveclub with a controller. Too bad it is all going to be circuits mostly rather than countryside and city stages, because to me that's capital in a game with a handling like that focused on road cars.
