Career mode, you upgraded your car with new brakes and get notification that said "opens brake balance". Where you can change brake balance if you have stock/default setup? On PC2 you can changed it by custom buttons on fly.

You go to your garage; choose the car and you’ll have options to customize, upgrade, get in, etc.

I did upgraded to my car, but how or where I can change brake balance when i'm in driving event on the track?

Looking at his other videos it’s not even worth giving him the time of day, He’s about as unbiased as Fox News’ coverage of the RNC.

Honestly, if you’re not even going to try being unbiased when doing a review, don’t even bother because it’s not helpful to anyone.

Despite all the reviews I read and watched, I went for it and bought it cause the name "pcars" just makes me want to get it. With no expectation of it being a real sim, it is actually quite a good game, even with a wheel. The graphics are better than expected (4K on pc), it's just the sounds that are strange and feel dumped down. I like the progression in career with having to buy cars and upgrade them. So first impression is quite good

Judging from the PredefinedSettings.xml file in the games installation folder on PC, default settings for the PS4/XB1 are between Low/MediumLow for most settings.
That would explain one of the common complaints I've been reading and hearing, i.e poor AA among other things.

Still, I could live with that but the framerate being sub 60fps regularly (from the information I could gather) on the base PS4 is a no-no.

Among the consoles, the general feedback is that for the base models the game performs pretty bad, with low quality and low frame rate.

The Xbox One X version does not look like that bad (judging from the videos) and is quite stable on 60fps, finally tomorrow I will check by myself.

Also, I read a twit from Ian Bell saying that a patch for Xbox One X is on the way, specifically to improve the quality of shadows.

That's a major bummer for me as pCARS3 is right up my alley. I'll always choose a stable framrate over graphics (whether it's 30 or 60fps), any day.
I'm hoping they will improve it with through patches.

I was checking out the files to see if I can do some 'under the hood' tweaking, esp. getting that blurry TAA(?)/DOF(?) effect out. So far no luck.

The blurry effect is weird. When at a race start there's a distinct fuzzyness on the AI cars in front of you, but when driving fast the cars are sharp as a tack.

Yeah I have to say I think it looks really very good on the Xbox One X. No complaints from me graphically. I have itbsetntonenhanced resolution and it still holds a steady 60fps almost everywhere*.

*the city circuits like Havana and Shangai have so much detail that it does drop a few frames at speed. But I've only noticed it on those 2 and Monaco circuit.

I'd hold off for a sale. With no consideration to the base consoles, the large grids during the career make it unplayable for me.
(Don't think I'm missing much tbf.)
But if you drop the grid size down in custom races then it can look and play really nice on some circuits. The performance on Willow Springs for example is vastly improved compared to PC2, where I would get slow down on the straight and micro sutters on the same corner, I even managed to do a full day and night cycle. Detailed tracks like Monaco are still pretty bad. So while I personally don't regret buying it, it's hard to recommend it to other players.

During the game yes, it holds quite well on Xbox One X. The replays however are another story entirely. The speed/blurry filter/effects kills all the fun: frequent frame drops, cars almost vanish (a la Star Trek!) at high speeds (Caterham and other similar small vehicles), the filter seems to affect weird areas of the cars as well like the bottom half of the tyres as well as the back resulting in a complete mess visually... Cars surfaces are rendered in flat colours at medium distances (even the glass becomes solid grey or sometimes the driver disappear). I wish we could turn the filter off as an option both during races and replays. Another weird design choice is (as far as i know) that's not possible to see a replay after the race unless you save it first then go to the profile section a load the replay there... The smooth action you see immediately after a race finishes is NOT a replay - just the cars running around the circuit at small speed. The Ai is quite poor too - it acts as if your car wasn't there at all - looks like a Forza motorsport online game where everyone pushes/pulls/crashes against everyone else...

OK, brief personal thoughts about the first few hours of pCARS 3 (PC, 1080ti/7700k, VR, 1.4ss, maxed settings):
AI is a joke. If you aren't basically hot-lapping after the first few corners on the hardest setting (Pro/max aggression) with no assists then maybe you should take up Bubble Bobble. (disclaimer: this in in the first few tiers of career, no idea if they get better in faster cars. And they get superhuman in the rain).
Night races kill performance then teabag the corpse. Daytime is silky smooth, night races are a judderfest. Rain is even worse, I'm talking single-digit framerates.
Rain looks truly awful, a gazillion times worse than pCARS 1. AC's newest CSP rain mod looks photorealistic, pCARS 3 rain looks like a bad cartoon.
Graphical glitches are everywhere, from flickering textures to bad pop-in to disappearing balloons to whole mountains flashing white at Bannochbrae. Typical SMS QC, ie not really fit for release.
Had one hard CTD, crossing the finish line after winning a five-lap race. All race XP/progress lost.

The good:
It's (a shoddy version of) NFS: Shift 2 in VR.
Powering up and gaining XP in arcade racers is fun.
The 'Havana' track is awesome, hopefully ported soon to AC.

IMO you HAVE to treat this as an arcade game (with class-leading arcade physics) to be able to enjoy it, and even then the graphical glitches might be too much to bear. It's not a pretty game overall but CAN look good in daylight/dry on grassy tracks.
Apart from the career mode and XP/upgrading and a couple of unique tracks, is there any reason to play it over, say, Assetto Corsa which has:
  • better performance
  • better graphics
  • better handling
  • better weather
  • far fewer bugs and glitches
  • 1,000+ more tracks
  • 4,000+ more cars?
Not really, unless as a mild diversion or a pick 'n' play arcade blast. But even then, if you don't use VR... just play Shift 2 or GRiD 2019. They are both much better at the moment.

Masscot,
I haven't tried night and rain conditions on Xbox One X yet. You are scaring me!! Assetto Corsa Competizione is a mess on Xbox One X - very poor frame rate/frame pacing to the point i simply don't play it. Two disappointments in a row: Assetto Corsa Competizione and now PC Cars 3 on Xbox One X - although this one is at least playable and fun during day races. Really have to check during night/raining conditions.

Well, don't forget I'm playing in VR on PC.
I imagine settings for consoles have been optimised for worse-case scenario, ie night + wet, so you should hopefully get a smooth experience no matter what.

1000 tracks? 4000 cars? Shift 2 is better?

PC mods, admittedly of variable quality. Some great, some good, lots bad. But the numbers don't lie, the variety is there. I was really making a point about mod support and how it can enhance a game and give it long legs... something that's not going to be possible in pCARS 3.
And yes, IMO right now Shift 2 (disclaimer: with the physics mod) is a better (more solid) game than pCARS 3. That might change after pCARS 3 gets patched but there are a lot of issues to resolve before then.

Just did my first wet race and it was fine for me. ACC is way worse compared I don't play acc either whilst it is in its current state but this is fine imo. The odd frame drop doesn't really get noticed by me but constant makes me feel motion sick

Thanks BigSoloFish. Glad to know it still holds with rain. PC Cars two started dropping frames in complex circuits, with various cars on screen when raining. I agree it's a bit unfair to compare PC Cars 3 with ACC on Xbox One X. PC Cars 3 is indeed playable and fun and in a much better state. Just a few things could have been improved/be more polished. Am i the only one that see the replays after a race here?
