Project cars DLC

Kind of a silly debate in my opinion. Aside from pay to play racing games like iRacing, I don't think racing games have a strong enough fan base to support either 100% online, or 100% offline. Having both features helps both camps.

Personally, I can't stand any AI in any game. I agree with this
Truth is nobodys AI can be described as good enough .The dedicated Nascar games the AI feels like its running on rails ,rather than individual AI if you let it play long enough what starts at the front will finish the race at the front so it feels devoid of life

GranTurismo`s AI is probably the best behaved but the slowest .Project Cars AI altho reasonable on road courses would be a nightmare on an Oval .Worst part being when you go to make it 3 wide the AI would try to move to give you room to make the pass .when it does the other AI is going to try and avoid it ,going into the wall ,every 3 wide pass you make would probably be a caution ,if the caution system works

After about a 1/2 hour of racing against any AI, I begin to notice patterns. In PCARS, the AI rarely if ever overtakes each other after the 1st or 2nd lap. The AI is also terribly slow, using aweful lines, and then just uses rubber band braking and accelerating to make up the difference.

Personally, I would rather race in a room full of scrubs than against any kind of AI. Avoiding tanners has just become part of the challenge. Learning to watch the map for cars parked, how to avoid slow cars, how to fake going one way and then go the other, etc. it also makes those moments of clean racing incredibly rewarding.

Sort of off topic, but sort of related: I used to have this idea in my head that "clean racing" was clean racing, and the same for everyone. I've since changed that, and realized that everyone's definition of "clean" is different. I think region has a big part to do with it, as well as what kind of real life racing the person might follow. Clean in F1 is different from clean in NASCAR, is different from clean in TC/GT, is different from clean in V8SC, is extremely different from clean in Brazilian Stock Car (actually, "clean" is a very loose term in any South American racing...those guys really like their rubbing and late defensive moves :P ). Learning to adapt to the situation and the driver you are driving against is all part of the challenge and experience. To me, that's something that no AI will ever offer.

Mercedes AMG GT3 is on the PlayStation Store now in Australia... Still some hours till it hits the stores in Europe...

I believe that SMS have over worked the AI system on Project Cars, making it too complex for it's own good. The fact that there's soo many options to you in regards to difficulty is a silly mistake. I think that having an easy, medium and hard difficulty is the way to go, rather than having a slider. The AI doesn't play fair at all and feels far too alien for me.
I think sliders is the best way to go, what SMS needs to do is to split AI difficulty into 2 sliders, 1 for pace and another 1 for aggression. Imo pace is good but sometimes the AI can be a bit too aggressive.

Sounds a bit like rFactor. Though I could never get those settings dialed down.

It would be a very dark day for racing games if you're only able to play online. I tried it a few times and it was complete BS. Pricks ramming you, colliding head-on etc. I don't need that kind of 'fun' thanks very much.
First time coming on today from a couples week absence, I get welcomed from shove wide on to the grass just on the first corner of Ruapuna.

Can someone from Australia make a lobby with the AMG GT3 DLC?

Edit: Nevermind I'll just wait until it releases world wide tomorrow.

Ugh it's not out in Canada yet. I just came up behind one in a race...took me longer than it should have to figure out what it was :dunce:  Sounds pretty good 👍

I'm pulling a Maxi Buhk. I used to use the SLS AMG GT3, recently I've been using the Bently GT3, but I'll be switching back to the new Benz once I can get my hands on it

There's no point releasing different versions of the game really. It's just to net extra sales and suck in gamers who didn't buy the game at the start. BTW after this DLC I'm done with this game.

What are you going to play instead? And of course that's why they're releasing the GOTY edition, that's their job, to sell games!

If he is on Consoles he will move to Assetto Corsa soon - their port seems to be great running at 60fps. Or Dirt Rally. Or F1 2016.
There are much more exciting racers out there than when PCars came out.

PCars has its ups and downs and its just not a consistent experience - I still like the big fields of Cars, Day and Night Cycle and so on but it doesn't pull me back into the driver seat.

AC is a half ***** game to me. No time cycle (which is what I love to do, set the start at 12:00 and set it to x20 or x30), small *** grid (16? Pffft, please, can't add at least 5-10 more Ai?), and there are other small things PCARS can do that AC cannot. Plus there's no Indycar, no Aston's, no multi-class anywhere and no option for weather. PCARS isn't perfect, not by a long shot, but its got the features over AC. Plus if you get the normal game and pick and choose DLC you want you might only pay half of AC's price (hunting required though).

DiRT Rally and PCARS is a nice combination. 👍 DiRT Rally is award winning stuff, its the most perfect on release console racer ever made. Its a game that proves you don't have to win every race to have fun. Heck it makes winning all that much sweeter when you finally pull off a mega rally. If Codemasters can accomplish that in the next TOCA or GRID, then that'd be the best thing ever hands down.

It's 20 AI right now - that's fine by me.
Yes, Astons are important to you ;)

Multiclass isn't included in PCars as we would like to, it just mixes together all types of cars of a certain style.

Is it 20 for console though? That is the question.

And of course they are, can't not have a V8 GTE or V12 GT3 in a GT3/GTE field. :P

And multiclass is in the career at least.

I'm still playing PCars regularly, chances are I'll be playing PCars & AC regularly in the upcoming months, so far I don't see any reason to replace one with the other and it makes more sense to me to enjoy both.
As much as I like F1 I don't expect F1 2016 to be that great, F1 2015 is just average imo, very bare bones, problems that people have complained about for years are still in the game. All F1 games by CM have been just average, why should I expect F1 2016 to be different?

So we got are free car #10, next up should be the may nurb DLC (which i might not buy)then the mystery extra DLC in june from what SMS said like a month ago. Unless they change their minds about that which i wouldn't be surprised. But if we do get that DLC i really want it to be a track pack. A great track pack. Nothing weak.

What I want from June DLC:

Pitcrews
Custom Championship
Indy (Road)
Daytona (Road)
Sebring
Road Atlanta
COTA
Mazda 787B
Ridge Racer Liveries
-----------------------
What's realistic:

COTA
Sebring
Road Atlanta
Mazda 787B
Group 5 Chevy (either Greenwood Corvette or the Monza thingy)
-----------------------
What I expect:

DLC cancelled and a patch that fixes some unknown bug and that's the end of game support

All of those are very different types of games. AC looks similar to PCars but the racing doesn't look anywhere near as good, less cars on track, no weather etc. Dirt Rally is brilliant but very narrow in its focus, and F1 2016 is probably still 6 months away and again, very narrow in focus.

PCars is by far the best mixed circuit racing game on the PS4 (probably ever) and I can't see anything comparing to it until PCars 2 is released! (except perhaps GT Sport / GT7 but we'll have to wait and see)...
