Looking at GT6 Bathurst trailer, I realised I haven't really ever driven the track, maybe a bit on Toca 3 with a pad a long time a go. Anyway had a go with a V8 powered car and it is a very tricky circuit to nail with all the bumps and setup I had on car from another event was not very good on small bumps so that made it extra tricky to do a good lap around here.

First lap was nearly 6 seconds off top spot and getting used to what direction the track goes, but next complete lap took top spot, and next two complete laps, managed to be 8 tenths ahead with maybe 4 tenths improvement possible. Good fun trying to be on the limit on this track with the walls so close and being quite tricky under braking.

Might give it a go later on with the Lotus 98T if I have time, been like nearly a year since I last drove that car so will be interesting to see how it drives in current build. I really like how the FFB in the game is now, feel more at one with the car. I think some settings change on Logitech profiler has helped which I borrowed from Assetto Corsa recommended settings.

Gloves? Really?

Anyway, nice combo, Adrian. Looks like a load of fun!

I don't use them but there have been several long races on I racing where they would have helped. After an hour or so my hands sweat bad, and it would help out in keeping the wheel from wearing.

No. Why do you think that? It just seems a bit silly. Thus the eye roll emoticon.

Just looked to me like you were really annoyed by that. I myself am not really into using gloves for sim racing, but its hardly a problem for me.

I dip into this thread now and then, it always looks awesome. I missed out on being a member, my bad. But I've also noticed the release date slip and slip, which really troubles me. It feels more and more like an elite club, which is a great shame, as the advancements and mods could follow a released version too, and/or a subscription available to all.

It feels a little like perfectionism to me, or perhaps a lack of focus on a "complete" product/disc available to all. Just saying, as someone who loves racing games, and has loved this project since the get go, but that seems a long time ago now.

Lots of people use gloves when sim racing including myself. It's not to add realism but to genuinely help with driving. The only thing I would roll my eyes at is if someone wore a full on race helmet ;)

It might seem like a long time but in reality the game has only been in development since October 2011, so pretty much two years. Even if it weren't to release for another year, which isn't expected, that would still only be three years, again quite reasonable.

I guess the reason it's seemed longer is because it's been available to fans and semi-public all that time whereas other games can be in development privately for at least a year before we hear or see anything.

That and the scope of the game has changed during development. It went from being f2p + microtransactions to full boxed title, lots more content and features than being initially planned were added and potentially three new platforms with the WiiU and the next-gen consoles.

I can understand that it feels like a long time from the outside looking in, but if the game turns out to be all it promises, it will be well worth the wait. It wouldnt be surprising to see you play it as long as it took to develop... The dynamic career alone will be worth multiple playthroughs and if you choose to play every race in full length during a multiple season career from Karts to F1, DTM or Le Mans, it will keep you busy for a long, long time. Not to mention the awesome DLC packages that are being discussed (which I cant share here unfortunately, tee hee hee :D )

People do get a little shirty when the dreaded word (or abbreviation) DLC gets bandied about, without realising that SMS is not EA. Just because an item is DLC, doesn't mean people are going to be charged for it, just look at the Destruction Derbyshire DLC pack for Grid 2.

This game is going to be what a lot of people were expecting from GT5 and FM4, and I know that there are a lot of people on this forum who are members of the WMD project, so I can understand the feeling of it being an elite club, but I think I speak for most of us here when I say that if there was a way of getting you guys into the project, then we would.

One thing Felix, just thinking out loud, do you thinking amount of builds will slow down when the game reaches late-Alpha to Beta stage, because all they would be doing is fleshing out the story/career mode?

Never been involved in game development before, so I really have no idea at all.

Regarding DLC: I love the idea of expansion packs, like the Legends pack for Shift 2. That kind of stuff is well worth a tenner or 20 bucks imho. On the other hand, I never bought a single piece of DLC for GT5. Paying for new cars or tracks without any context within the game doesnt really increase a games longevity for me.

I also have no experience with game development, but I have some experience with software development. Generally when a piece of software hits beta all the features are in and you should only do bug fix and polishing. In beta state you normally only make builds on demand, so normally the builds should be less frequent, but you can also build a lot more over a short period of time while fixing bugs and testing the new builds and fixing new bugs that are introduced by the bug fix and so on.

Donington Park is looking awesome in this video. Not tried Project Cars myself yet.

Love the sound in PCars:tup:👍 Funny, at the start I said to myself, "they must have stolen the AI designer from GT for this"...then I watched the rest and the AI was intensely competitive. GT could sure learn a lesson from this!! Can't wait till this makes the PS platform:tup:

The AI, like everything else, are also far from finished. They actually used to be better than they are now at one point, as you saw off the line they were too slow. All in good time the AI will be completely worked over. It should turn out well.
