Yes! Audi!

Slightly Mad Studios is very excited to announce another high-profile addition to Project CARS as Audi joins the WMD-powered multiplatform racing title.

Project CARS will feature six Audi cars, giving players access to four of Audi’s most iconic & successful racing cars and two stunning cars from Audi’s current lineup of road cars.

The six-pack of Audi’s in Project CARS is kicked off by the 2012 A1 Quattro, a strictly-limited 256hp version of the Audi A1. While only 333 of these will hit the real-world roads, Project CARS will make sure that all car enthusiasts around the world can experience one of the world’s most powerful compact cars.

Sports car fans looking for something even more powerful will love the 2013 Audi R8 V10 Plus, the latest rendition of Audi’s sought-after mid-engine sports car. Powered by a 550hp V10 engine, the R8 V10 Plus is equipped with everything that makes a sports car desirable, including a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission & ceramic brakes.

Testament to Audi’s tremendous on-track success, all four Audi racing cars in Project CARS are championship winners as each of them has left a lasting impression in the series they have competed in.

Audi’s Le Mans success will be represented in Project CARS by Audi’s first Le Mans-winning car, the Audi R8 LMP900, and the 2011 LMP1 R18 TDI Diesel prototype. These two cars combine no less than eight Le Mans overall wins in their racing history, alongside countless other endurance racing wins around the world.

Also included is the R8 LMS Ultra, Audi’s highly successful customer race car for GT3-class racing. Competing in countless national & international series by privateer teams around the world, the R8 LMS Ultra has clinched several championships and marquee wins in events like the Nürburgring 24 Hour race and the Bathurst 12 Hours.

The lineup of Audi race cars in Project CARS is rounded out by one of the company’s most iconic competitors: The Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO car. Build for the GTO class of the 1989 IMSA GT Championship, the car was powered by Audi’s rally-proven 2.2 liter turbo engine, offering no less than 720hp of power for drivers to prove themselves with.

Twice recently that Kunos has announced something for AC and SMS have counter-announced! Thus, I hope AC keeps announcing stuff. :D

So what happened to the Audi DTM?

Unknown at this stage. It's possible they may be licensing the DTM vehicles together at a later stage. They haven't said outright no at the moment but no absolute yes either.

Nice! Too bad there isn't a Sport Quattro, but the A1 should make for another fine street-legal runabout. Interesting choice on that one.

Nissan, Chevrolet (Camaro and C7 Corvette), SRT and Maserati also have GT3 cars in their line up. Please note how I m not confirming any of these to be in pCARS. :D

On another note: The R8 LMS Ultra and R8 V10 Plus were just exported, so we will be able to try them this week. Hell yeah!

Lexus LFA GT3.

Would love me some Japanese cars in game in general. We only have Mitsubishi Lancer Evo models licensed so far.

Audi is excellent news. Definitely a manufacturer I was hoping for. I completely did not expect the 2014 R18 E-Tron, that was an awesome catch by the licensing team. The other cars are great as well.

Agreed. I may not be crazy over Japanese cars but I do feel more manufacturers from country would be in order. I do expect at least Nissan to make an appearance. Toyota would also be nice (GT-86, TS020 and TS030 anyone?).

So whats left in the GT3 field? Aston, Ferrari, Lamborghini , Porsc... I mean RUF and Chevron?

With regards to GT3 cars, while it would be nice to have a complete field of the class, I think that if a car like the Aston Martin Vantage (which has both a GTE and GT3 version) is selected, they should give priority to the GTE version because it's quicker, would be slightly more suited for the Le Mans races and the BMW M3 GT2 needs some more closely spec-ed competition. Same story goes for the Corvette and (if by some miracle it happens) the Ferrari 458: select the GTE.

The only way this car list could get any better than the way it seems to be going was if they got one or (that would be insane) the two italian greats: Ferrari and Lamborghini. With the potential of Chevrolet, Nissan and Aston Martin on the way we should be in for a treat when the game is released.

^ Yes indeed, @WMD members; is there any news on Ferrari or Lambo joining the ranks, and is there a positive outlook on getting them licensed in the end?

Dude, even if we would know that (which I m not saying we do), we would get our rear ends plucked and roasted if we would share that info outside of WMD... ;)

I am sure some seasoning is involved as well. :P

If it's not officially announced than we are basically under the NDA that we signed when we joined the project. Although I am sure some peeps have forgotten and just clicked "agree... next" as soon as they saw something of legal nature, as with every program or forum you join.

We share what we can, when we can... and if we know about it in the first place. Most of the licensing stuff is behind closed doors, so most of the time we know when you guys know. Although we get a tease sometimes, which keeps us guessing but in the know that something is going on.

So yeah... if there is any talks it is hush hush. ;)

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on graphics settings, well a starting point anyway.

Sadly I've been out of the pCars loop for a while due to various reasons extremely limiting my time available. I now have a bit of spare time again to be able to dedicate to pCars.
Previously I would have varying success with different settings.

My setup is as follows.

i5 2500k @ 4.0
2 7850's
8gb of 1600 ram.
1920/1080p 120hz monitor.
I think that's the relevant info required and I checked the WMD forum but can't seem to find a suggested setup.
Obviously I would prefer the game to look as good as possible but much prefer a smooth gaming experience.

So, anyone know what driver is the way to go and some graphics settings which should provide a nice gaming experience.
Any advice would be appreciated but the simpler the better as I'm far from being a PC guru.
Thanks Shaun.

That's the kinda person I'm looking for! Is there anyone here that is prepared to give a hint? :D

You too, can you at least hint if it's being discussed on the forum and that there's something in the pipeline?
Maybe a riddle or something with an obvious answer? That way you didn't say it literally ;)

Congratulation on the Audi License! Now...

Can we PLEASE add some non German cars to the mix? Like some Italian, American, or Japanese cars?

For Italian cars something like the Alfa Romeo GTAm, Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI, Alfa Romeo 156 D2, Alfa Romeo 4C, Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo, Lancia LC2, Lancia Delta HF Integrale, Maserati MC12 GT1, Maserati Granturismo MC GT3, Fiat 500 Abarth Trofeo. And I haven't even mentioned Ferrari and Lamborghini just to show you can have a lot of interesting Italian cars without even including these two prestigious makers (which may or may not be difficult to license).

And I haven't even mentioned American cars (like Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper, Ford GT GT3) or Japanese cars (Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Honda). I would prefer less cars but a more balanced car selection to show better the different car engineering and design philosophies.

Sorry for the minor rant, but I really think that the car selection in Project CARS is heavily biased. I am sure that SMS will deliver on the driving physics, the graphics, the sound, the day/night and weather transition, the gameplay. And I will definitely buy this game. But If I had to buy either pCars (with the current car list) or AC, I would probably buy AC just for the more balanced car selection (even though pCars may end up being the best game in physics, graphics, sound and gameplay).

I loved and still play the previous SMS games (Shift, Shift 2, Ferrari Racing Legends), which were great games (despite the well documented flaws) and it's great that SMS has improved massively on every aspect of these games. But when it comes to car selection I think that right now Project CARS is unbalanced compared to the excellent car roster of those games.

Hopefully future announcements will correct this imbalance.

It isn't imbalance, IMO. They get what they can. It's something like PD and the endlessly collection of irrelevant japanese cars. They are closer to japanese manufacturers, so it is easy get those cars. Besides that, you know, you can only put into the game what the companies let you to. So, without a license, you can't simply go nuts modelling whatever car you like.

Ferraris, Fords, Lambos and whanot from previous SMS' works were possible because they are backed by EA's firepower back then.

For me, despite the lack of racing Astons, the roster is way better than any other current gen racer. Even the 1200 cars of GT6 aren't appealing to me.
