It really did bring out the darkside of the Nintendo community

A Jackyl & Hyde Community? Or better yet, there seems to be a Wario in every Mario.

I guess the worst frustration is that people need to now think of another Christmas present to get themselves or sons/daughters. That in itself is also the funniest thing though, that Christmas frustration, as the Christmas season is a long way away still as we (on the Northern part of the globe) are now enjoying summer holidays.

I was actually gonna buy it for my girlfriend and she was gonna get my copy... :(

Ah well, there's actually a good few Wii U games that look great coming out in Q3 and Q4 so maybe it's for the better.

No, I'm not trying to ease the pain. :nervous:

It's disappointing for those who really want to play pCARS of course. However, while you wait, know that SMS is going several extra miles to make the Wii U version possible, taking on additional hardship and expenses to get there (can't give the exact details as usual...).

What Doc Justice said above. SMS will get it done one way or the other, but the Wii U will get its copy to see daylight. ;)

To be honest in my personal opinion, I think we might be even cutting it too close for comfort releasing the other versions. To the point where I even doubt we will make it before Christmas.
It's not that I doubt the capabilities of the SMS dev team, but more that I doubt because I can't see how quickly these last months will wrap things up. I never witnessed finishing a AAA title before like now with WMD, so even I am getting excited and scared at the same time about the release date closing in on us.

The Nintendo communitiy has a darkside?

;)

Massive dissapointment :(

WMD = World of Mass Disappointment.

I won't be getting P CARS now that my wheel isn't supported on the PS4.

:(

As expected, only thrustmaster on ps4. No pcars for me then until sms, sony or whoever supports other wheels. And if people are stupid enough to buy an new expensive wheel for ps4 and dump their other old one, I am sorry for them. Not even t500 support on ps4 is really evil.

Heck just look at that, if you own both, ps4 and xbone, you even need 2 different wheels for both consoles.

Bad thing that Logitech gave up the wheel market and thrustmaster is milking people now.

well good, i posted before i could read list not final (then really bad move publising it if i can say). Now let's just hope to have logitech wheels.

It's a sigh of relief for me. Can continue using my Thrustmaster T500RS and shifter.

The T500 is supported. Did you not look at the list? How are they milking?

Edit: What's the difference between the T500 and the T500RS. I can't find anything about a T500 without the RS behind it.

I hate the internet and all this jumping to conclusions as fast as you can national sport. :ouch:

EDIT: AND I HATE GTP AND ITS GODDAMN STUPID TEXT FORMATTING BUGS!!! :ouch::ouch::ouch:

All I can say in my defense is that I reacted before they updated the webpage with that 'not final' disclaimer :dopey:

Let's hope that Sony/Logitech still get their 🤬 sorted out before release...

THE LIST IS NOT FINAL

Anyway I bet it is at least until gt7 comes. Why would Sony care about 3rd party games. Anyway if they want to 🤬 Microsoft again they better support all wheels and get thousands of satisfied customers.

Because they have a first party racing game coming in October too?
Because they pride themselves into supporting indie and third party devs?
Because they even showed pcars and other indie games at their booth at E3?
Because they might sell more consoles and games if they support the hardware owned by a larget target audience?
Because Baby Jesus powers?

Sony isn't in charge of making drivers for the Logitech and Fanatec wheels...

Three things need to happen for any last generation wheel to work on the PS4

- New drivers
- Official PS4 license
- Wheel maker Working with the game dev in each individual game in order for their wheel to work.

Old wheels can work with PS4 games, but all the above criterias need to be met. And it has to be done on a game by game basis. The ball is in Logitechs, Fanatics and Thrustmasters court. As evident by their older wheels working in PCars and most likely Driveclub too, Thrustmaster is making an effort to support their wheels.

Sony is in charge of handing out licenses for Devkits (development hardware and software kits). These kits are necessary for developing a driver on the custom Operating System that runs on a console, because they aren't running Windows nor anything close.

So first a devkit if Sony allows, and than a driver can be developed by the wheel manufacturer. Which when ready can be implemented into the game.

Mind all: A driver can be patched into a game after release. So i am sure SMS will try to increase wheel support when more wheels with compatible drivers become available for a certain platform. Whether it is Windows, SteamOS, PS4, XB1 or even Wii U.

True. The silly thing is that updating drivers, or even writing new ones from scratch, isn't a big deal money or time -wise. Corporate politics is though...

- Official PS4 license
I can't see what needs licensing here. Just get the drivers made, then they can be linked with the game software, and users can plug in those old wheels.

- Wheel maker Working with the game dev in each individual game in order for their wheel to work.
There should be no need for that. If the drivers are in place everything basically just works.

Let's just hope that it isn't all being made a mess of.

Hmm I don't know, drive club is an arcade game why would they even support wheels (I know they do it anyway). It's like playing grand theft auto with a wheel.

Whatever, the first big disappointment is over, I focus on my holidays and don't care until September.

Anyway I wonder if fanatec can not use the thrustmaster ps4 drivers to make their wheel work on ps4? As I know they used the Logitech drivers on ps3. So why not use thrustmaster on ps4? With an firmware update for their wheels they can fix this or not?

According to the Playstation 4 FAQ, every periphial on the PS4 needs the official PS4 license. Quote from the official FAQ under a chart about PS3 periphials.

"Only Sony Computer Entertainment products and officially licensed products will be compatible with PS4."
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/30/ps4-the-ultimate-faq-north-america/#sect5

I asked on the official Thrustmaster Facebook page about wheel compatibility, and got this answer.

"Regarding upward compatibility of the “T500 RS – PS3” racing wheel with PS4 racing games:
This decision is upon each game developer and will therefore vary from racing game to racing game.
In the event of upward compatibility with PS4 racing games, the T500 RS – PS3 racing wheel will only be recognized in the game, and not in the console’s menus. Please note that the “SHARE” and “PS” functions will not work on the wheel in PS4 racing games."

Old wheels work on a game to game basis.

maybe because Driveclub isn't an arcade

Driveclub is an arcade game, and has been from the start. This was always very clear.
But that doesn't mean that a wheels doesn't make the experience better.

Sony has no reason to not hand out Devkits. If you have anything that suggests that they are holding these back, then please do share.
