Is there a custom option to choose what aids you can and cant have? For eg i choose "pro" but i want to turn on auto gear changes, is this possible?
I was thinking the same thing and more so of "onscreen guides" and "mechanical damage". Don't want to be doing this every second lap :banghead:

Lol I wrote so much positive stuff about Pcars here and everywhere else but you people pick that few "negative" posts I made and bash on it. Whatever. I don´t have to be blind and I don´t have to be all positive about this game. If its good I´ll buy it, if not, I´ll buy it too because there is no other option at the moment that has that much good content and an promising careere mode. I still think the physics are better than Grid Autosport what is enough to have fun. And if the physics are on a level with AC, GSCE, rfactor, even better.

I dont give a **** and keep my own opinion to stay sceptical.

so yes there in the options we currently can adjust the ai difficulty and the aids as well as gear change options
the 3 aids ( TC,ABS, stability control) can be mapped to a wheel or controller useful if you race turns wet quickly i've used the function for tcs a few times.
i'll have to double check but you may be able to adjust the amount of slippage as well.

i also have ac but ac suffers in a few areas such as ffb. it also seems more forgiving compared to PCARS and rfactor 2. however it could also be my driving force gt giving me this effect.

No question, ac has so many faults/problems too. Just like every game out there. No game is perfect and with no word I ever said that ac is better than pcars. But people here turn it around that way (not you). I really like the physics in AC at the moment, especially the open wheelers. But as I said, there is no way for me to compare them with pcars because I have no account.

I've read very often that Game stock car extreme is top notch in physics at the moment but it lacks in graphics. I tried it a few times and I personally can't live with such graphics in 2014.

IRacing is vers very expensive and the graphics are also not the best.

So, just as I said, every game has its problems. But it is no good way to always ignore them. It's normal that people criticize stuff.

Anyone know if we need extra paid subscriptions with SMS to enjoy the online features? The reason why I asked is games of late have been pushing this kind of business model.

No online suscriptions needed. Well, you need steam/PSN+/XBox live obviously as with every other game, but nothing beyond that.

Is that assist setting titled "Real" (something like that) still around in the game? Basically it enables the same assists that the car/racing series uses in real life?

No they've adjusted down to the 3 base settings as mentioned previously you can toggle the aids via the controller or wheel. They used to have 5 but it was patched down to 3

in terms of dlc there a lot of content that isn't ready in playable state as the models etc are being built so i suspect they will be low cost or free.
sms don't like the whole LE situation but that comes down to the distributor.

Cheers, thanks man!

I preordered the xbone LE. Coming from GT and recently Forza 5 one of the things I am most excited about is having that extra human element. Being able to hear your race engineer through the radio, seeing the packed stands and all that is going to be great.

It's going to be really interesting to see how well Project Cars sells on the XBone vs. Forza 5, much moreso than PCars vs. GT6 because GT6 is last gen. IMO I think it will do quite well not because of any shortcomings in Forza but because XBone/Forza fans are already pumped about what next gen offers and know how good a game can look on the new hardware. I hope we get some real sales figures and don't have to rely on VGChartz for info.

Forza is roughly 8 times more popular than PCARS. I don't expect it to get much besides a more respectable audience.

How do you measure this popularity when only one of the games has been released?

Well so far there is only one racing game on the Bone which is FM5 and it has been out for nearly a year, all of the other ones are pure arcade stuff so yeah I think they have a great chance to attract all car enthusiasts on the Bone and do really well. Forza Horizon 2 has just come out but I don't think they will necessarily be competing to one another because they are so different, I ordered both for instance.

I think sales will come down to how well they market the game from now up until release date and how they keep it up once it has released. Now I do not know how they are going to start a hype train like PD does considering they have shown so much to the public, hopefully they have a couple of interesting features to reveal two weeks before release date.

EDIT:Typo

Iirc NFS Shift 1, which like pCARS released in a gap between Forza/GT (circuit racing variant) releases, actually sold the same kind of 5 million+ as a typical Forza release, according to VGChartz.

Shift 2 sold much less, but managed to clash with Forza GT releases so their core audience was probably somewhat burned by the input lag and floatiness of Shift 1 (speaking for myself at least) and had competing racers to play instead.

pCARS sales will depend greatly on just how popular FH2 and DC "social" racing is, I guess. I'm expecting larger sales on PS4 than Xbox One from people looking for a next gen sim in absence of GT. But then again the Xbox One Forza5 audience has already bought into compatible racing wheels so their opportunity cost is lower than PS4 Logitech wheel owners :)

Question is the AI like other racers where they stick to the track like glue and just follow the racing line and if you knock them they don't budge but when they knock you you spin? Or has this been improved so you can Atleast battle with the AI.

There are loads and loads of videos of AI battles in pCARS on YouTube already.
Current build is 821, and most videos include the build number, so just search around for recent build (say 800+) AI races, and see for yourself.

They can be a real challenge as the ai like you will find different cars harder to control this means that they make mistakes epically in the wet

Awesome that's what I like GT6 is good but the AI is unrealistic. And if I can battle it out for 2 laps with a car for 5th place that will be fun also if they make mistakes that will be good can't wait for the game not long left now.

via player sales (which doesn't apply yet), however Social media interest + some math got me to believe currently the FM series is 8 times more popular than what PCARS is at the moment.

Will there be an rubber band effect when racing against AI? Online? Any news about online driver stats? Driver rating?

Pcars will sell like hell on console because of the lack of serious racing games on both console. FM5 is good but already 1 year old. And GT7 will come in 2029.

There is no rubber-banding against the AI. It has been discussed at length, and generally considered a very bad thing. If you fall behind in real-life, there's no reason to epect the other drivers to slow down and let you past. Online and offline driver stats have had their ground work done, and have the appropriate graphic and numerical representations. I know offline definitely works, and the on/offline records don't affect each other.
