Just like you shouldn't expect Rally, you shouldn't expect SNOW either anytime soon. I'm sure once Rally is tackled and all the loose surface dynamics it would not surprise me if SNOW would be included.
Though as said, it's a lot of tyre physics dynamics that will need A WHOLE LOT of MASS WMD testing, especially since track temperature changes will influence the snow.
For example: if you'd do a 24hr endurance race and you have snow fall in the morning, temperatures above 0 degrees celcius melting the snow at noon, than the molten snow freezing up again at night. You get a mix of SNOW, ice and hardened iced over SNOW. Which is a lot of dynamics to deal with and to which the car should react properly. Also hitting a hardened snow wall will impact the car's damage in certain ways.

So yeah, all in all... it's a huge chunk of work I wouldn't see in this version of Project CARS at all. Unless we're sticking with pCARS 1 for a long time with a lot of post-release improvements and 'upgrades' to the game engine. Which is unlikely, as there is a 2 year update/DLC plan ahead I believe so far.

Oh and as far as capitalizing SNOW goes. That's something to do with WMD and a whole story on that (read my part at the bottom: http://throwingdigitalsheep.com/project-cars-special-pt-ii-conversation-wmd-community-seniors/ ). I just do it automatically these days when I use it in conjuction with Project CARS. Sorry.

So don't get your hopes up, guys. ;)

I wasn't getting my hopes anywhere unrealistic, I was just being curious.

If the particles are affected by the wind, that's already a good start.
We'll see later about driving against the wind and other things like that.

As for the SNOW, I was aware of the story...

Thanks for taking the time to reply, guys!:gtpflag:

Hey guys. I just wanted to take a moment and say how great it's been being able to be apart of all this. I'm 43 years old and can still remember playing around on my father's Texas instruments t-994a computer and writing gwbasic text adventures. And now look at where we are at in terms of realism and graphics today. You younger fellows can only speculate to how awesome of a ride it's been. Here's to :gtpflag:for giving us this great place to come and rap about racing and the games that we play on. And to SMS for this great game. And all the wmd members can kiss my 🤬 because you get to play right now. Thanks to you guys for passing your info on. PEACE!

As an old fella you shouldn't assume we all started in the internet generation. I am 29 years old and started my adventures on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum, than an Amiga 2000 after which my dad bought a 486DX2. Than an AMD K6-2 266mhz with Diamond Viper V770 nvidia TNT2, a K6-3... and so on. I gamed on that Amiga 2000 for at least 10 years (read all the way through the 90s) as it kicked a PC ass for a long time as well as consoles.

Anyway, just saying this young one is one of the last of the old breed. ;)
First racing 'sim' for me was Hard Drivin' on the Amiga.

Old fella. Ouch!! Let me rephrase. I'm 43 years young. ;) And you just took me down memory lane. I liked racing Sims back then but manly played flight sims. Still do. But my passion is racing.

So would just like to say that this game looks pretty awesome and I'm quite excited for it like everyone else, one question...does it have some sort of difficulty setting?, this is because I'm more of a laid back kind of gamer and I fear this game might be too difficult for me and ill be rubbish at it...

Yes

So i was wondering, seeing this game is a godsend for staging your own endurance races, did SMS make the trackside atmosphere change during that timeset? For example during the night at the ring you would see parties here and there or the fires of people BBQ'ing? Or do the dummies just stay the same the whole time?

I already saw SMS made great progress in the past months regarding trackside atmosphere, with people in the stands, marshalls, roadside scenery (before it was a bit sterile in many places), so thumbs up for that 👍

From the main menu, three clicks and a slider.

(yeah, I know, you might not even want or expect an answer... :P)
While we're on the subject anyway, did SMS go ahead with their idea of customizing Ben's advice/input, like disabling racecraft tips and overtake suggestions while allowing for weather updates and time splits? I know it was mentioned before.

Not yet. They know about it but it's one of those "nice to have" features that there is just no time for. Maybe in future or in pCARS2

Can I ask the wmd members that are on here how did you hear about this project when it first got started? Because if the do a pcars 2 in the same way I would definitely want to be in it from the beginning

I read an article about it (about 1 year after the start) and was luckily under the last backers. But back then, i couldn't play it because my Laptop was THAT slow. But I must say. Best decision ever (regarding video games)

I was a member on here and on nogripracing forum. Ian Bell (the big boss at SMS) was frequently there in the Shift 2 subforum, so it was there where he posted the first screenshots of the game. This very first screenshot got me hooked on the game.

(this will be non-pCARS related guys... sorry ;) )

Alrighty, young one it is. Young but well aged. hahaha ;)

I also played flight sims. The first ones were these...

A more well known one was the following...

F19 Stealth Fighter - by MicroProse

Loook at that boxed game contents of back than. Maps, manuals and more! So much different to the boxed Steam code of these days.
It's the same feeling as buying a nice record album or to buy an iTunes album.
The latter ones just makes me snore as it lets me down a lot. The experience of getting a new game or record is just gone these days.

Those were the two I played back than. Oh and I loved this simply game, even by myself.

Amiga Tanx

Anyway, I'll stop here. Many old games are still close to heart. The simplicity had a charm back than as well. At least I enjoyed games differently back than, or maybe that's just nostalgia kicking in... who knows? :P

I think I heard about pCARS on GTPlanet, that is why I'm surprised so many claim they would have joined if they would have known about it. You almost had to be living under a rock to not hear about SMS's plan for Project CARS. I think my investment was $25 (Team Member), best $25 I've spend on sim racing.

Although you WMD members got in from the start (or a long time ago), and it must have been a cool experience to actually help the development trough your input, i guess you aren't going to be as thrilled as us regular punters when it launches in 24 days, because for us it's a whole new/ fresh experience.

Well, we'll have a different kind of thrill, seeing the project let out into the wild. It's going to be very exciting. And I have not once played the game yet, IYSWIM, so I look forward to some celebratory laps and starting a career :D

That's an iconic post right there; 14th of April 2011 the idea was shared and look where we are almost 4 years later.
Wow. I envy those who became WMD early on but not for those who knew about and did not get in from the start. 4 years of waiting will be tough gig. I only found out PCars early 2014 and ever since that feeling of constantly waiting for more updates on the game had taken a massive toll on my SIM life…
