I'll be picking this one up on PS3 also, and I can't wait. I've seen the shots, and think they look great. At the end of the day, I don't care too much about graphics. GT5 has a cleaner look on the outside, but I really don't think PD models parts under the bumpers, engine, trunk, suspension, etc. PCARS probably uses the same number of polygons, but they have to spread them over more areas of the car.

Will the AI be better?

Better than what?

They don't, no. They don't even model the inside of wheels/tyres, they're just one big ugly texture.

Well they're very, very early WIP of a new version at the moment so they're pretty useless at racing at the moment but on the older version they had decent speed when you had them on full. The aim is certainly to have very good AI but we won't know how good they are probably until we get to beta stages late next year.

Certainly what they are like now is not a representation of the final product in any way shape or form if you've seen any videos of them.

There was definitely more life to the trackside environment, which is very nice, but no overall the pics didn't look better than GT5. Things like the crowd and debris on the track give it a real race environment feel though, something GT is lacking.

Who's gonna buy this on the PS3 rather than the PC?
Probably a lot more than the number of people who buy it on PC.

I honestly don't give a rats ass about the graphics, or not that much atleast. As long as it's on pair with or slightly better than Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends by the end of the development cycle, I couldn't care less.

This. I'm on the same boat. For me, I still don't trust SMS with their physics for consoles imo...

Better than GT5. Not necessarily better, but just more advanced that GT5's AI.
Any modern racing game (arcade or sim) has better/more advanced AI than GT5. In fact, I think you would have to try really hard to make something that sucks more. GT5 AI is hardly a benchmark. (Well actually it is, a benchmark of how not to do it).

You know, I'm starting to wonder if they kept the AI as simple as possible for technical reasons. I remember (and yes, this is a bit of a tangent) when they first added bots to Team Fortress 2, using them instead of playing online dropped the frame rate by a huge margin, like 20fps or so, simply because they were using up processor resources to calculate what the AI was doing. If GT5 had had advanced AI then maybe the 60fps frame rate would have been impossible, but personally I'd prefer a steady 30 with good AI to 60 with rolling barriers.

So that could be another reason why pCARS doesn't look as good. Speculation!

It'll be somewhat dumbed down on the consoles (correct me if I'm wrong), but in no ways being anything like the physics in the SHIFT series. That's one thing we can be sure about. As you can see below, even the earlier builds played completely different, when it was pre SETA.

pCARS is running at 30fps on consoles though. ;)

Sigh! Ok, how about this then: it's multiplatform and they've designed it around the 360's limitations to make development cheaper. That's the usual reason, anyway.

I thought they managed to get the advanced physics working on consoles as well.

Really? If yes, that's great news. To me, atleast. Must've missed it.

I'm not sure if they've categorically said they have SETA running on console but I know it was certainly what they wanted to do. I will say this though, as someone that absolutely hated the Shift physics even if they do have to settle for the older tyre model this game feels nothing like Shift. Not at all.

Yes they are the genuine PS3 shots but as the person posting them has neglected to post, these are very early shots with a lot of bugs in them. The AA in particular is pretty poor and will be improved greatly.

Looks good, as long as there's true leaderboards and it handles well am happy. Will there be car upgrades or is it just tuning?

WOW! Now that does seem better, even if it was pre-alpha built. At least now pCARS will have highly better physics than crappy SHIFT 2's physics, (which I heavily disliked due to drifting in every damn corner.) Thanks for that video. :)

I hope pCARS will have road cars too.

Are both the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX FQ 360 and Lancer Evolution X FQ 400 really being added to pCARS? Yes! Even the BMW 1M Coupe is being added. The tracks already look pretty but damn am I gonna enjoy these three babies on them, especially the Nurburg.

I already heard and saw that RUF are said to be added in game from here and the official site. Is there really going to be rally too by any chance? Please say yes. O.O

There will be one (at least one) "test track" for rally in the retail copy. Further rally portion will be DLC. This is AFAIK the latest info.

Yes, they're all on the to do list. As for rally it was considered but they decided they didn't want to half ass it like a certain other game so I believe currently the plan is either to release a large, dedicated rally DLC pack or save it for a full 'Project Rally' title.

Thanks guys for the info on rally. I wouldn't mind for a DLC pack or a whole new title just for rally. I would love for it to be in the base game, but I can wait for either choice to be picked out. 👍

For now, I got my figures crossed for a least a bit more road cars, but I love the race cars too. :)

PS3 pics posted in other forum 👎

Saw that just now and was about to post about it. What an idiot. I know exactly who he is on the WMD forums too. I personally think he should be banned for pulling this crap.
