PS3 General Discussion

Well, " I am so cool" kinda dudes may. I just post the link, I will never do such thing if I have a PS3. It's just as lame as Peter moore's console face plate IMO.

Why anyone would like to put ugly decals on a PS3 is beyond me.

I mean, it's one thing if the PS3 was colored brown and said "you smell of eggs" on it, but putting crap on one of the most beautiful consoles ever is, well, dumb.

I think this one rocks :D

NIPPON NIPPON NIPPON !!!! ;)

I just thought I would post this here..... apparently games industry people seeing the disaster which was the PS3 launch suspect that this maybe the last games console sony make, the company keeps on finding it difficult to get things right and development of such a system takes alot of planning and a hell of alot of cash..... its so risky and volatile that it may not do it again and go back to making TV's and cameras! Especially if Blue Ray fails as a format then I kinda do see this happening, no PS4 then.....

That's just one analyst's shortsighted opinion. The only way I can see how the PS4 won't be made is if the PS3 gets it's ass kicked. Which is entirely plausible.

Besides, even if Sony goes software based, what good games do they have that they can share? Gran Turismo? That's all I can think of. If someone can tell me which other good franchises they can put on other systems, please do so.

I just can't think of Sony dissapearing from the Hardware market. The PS3 will be a success, and even if Sony had some financial problems, well, then some random company will invest and Sony would be back again ... Who cares about the first year, every console they sell now cost them money ;)... in 2 or 3 years they will ship millions of PS3 every year worldwide and then they will have huge profits with licence fees etc...

I could swear I heard the "Sony will have to leave the hardware market" story before, just after the PS2 launch didn't go so smooth. The fact is that they are having the usual problems that all new hardware suffers from. Even the 360 launch didn't go as planned.

The Wii has had few launch problems, but they were just rearranging old technology to do something new. Sony and Microsoft were building from the ground up. Supply problems are probably the most common of issues for any new product.

The PS2 and the Xbox didn't come out smoothly either and if it kills one of them this time I will be surprised.

Don't forget the they Europaen launch is coming , which mean Middle east , some parts of Africa I think , I know that the PS3 will sell well here , the weather is hot over here so people need stuff to do indoor in the summer :D :D

so there is still some PS3s to be sold in a couple of months its just to early

Not sure about that, remember what Eric Catman (or one of his buddies) said in Southpark?

- You see Kenny, the PSP was made by god...:odd:

But the GOD damn dotors and nurses wouldn't let him...
This is off topic, but that one hell of funny episode, the defect angel told Satan that Kenny is leading the army of heaven against him, Satan is like "GOD DAMN IT"

Ehem..Now back to PS3 stuff please.

Sony's here to stay. They are alien's after all....
Well, good point. I bet you that the recent change in leadership is probably so they can put Kutaragi back into his underground facility to dream up crazy quotes and make plans for the PS7... ;)

1. It's Cartman. Not Catman. He doesn't chase cats, or else he'd be 50lbs lighter.

2. He's also the same person who cryogenically froze himself so he wouldn't have to wait for the Wii.

Pretty much, what this means was that Sony was disappointed with the PS3 launch and is now changing leadership. How this will have effect on the PS3 is still up in the air.
Err... what it means is that Ken Kutaragi was originally rewarded for his hard work, but he proved to be a little too kooky for the spotlight. Plus Sony wants him in a quiet lab so the mad scientist can create more mad science for the next... forever.

Analists and journalists are getting more useless by the report. No wonder I don't miss the news anymore. :P
Exactly... or at least analists and journalists who don't bother to research their topics... as this planned change in management at Sony was reported on by the WSJ several weeks ago. KK even discussed what his new role will be at Sony last year at CES. So at least in the case of KK, this does not appear to have any relation to the launch of the PS3.

Nice find! Now let's hope someone comes out with the "long take" version sometime soon! :)

Someone please pass the salt.... ;)

I hope you guys know I like to have fun with spelling. It's really analysts. I don't want to be a typo virus. ;)

I give the news peeps heck every so often, but there are a few good sources out there, and Wall Street Journal is usually on the ball.

I always knew that the PS3 would suffer in reviews. There's little to surprise people with the PS3's games (with some exceptions). Now, if the PS3 had came out before the 360 maybe things would have been different. Simply put PS3 games have to work harder to get better reviews than the 360 did on its release. That's one of the benefits of beating your rival to launch.
However this won't be the case all the time. There will be PS3 games that are not ports of 360 games or multi-platform. They will give a better idea of the PS3 and their reviews will be a better example. Still, PS3 games and 360 games will sill be judged against each other. I guess it can't be helped.

I don't understand how a game with better visuals and more modes scores lower than the port with admittedly lesser visuals and fewer modes...it's mind boggling really.

It completely deserves the rating considering you don't really see the massive graphical difference in motion, plus the X360 version has been out almost 10 MONTHS ago. And the modes seem gimmicky. Besides, the PS3 version is *gasp* a port too.

If this game in it's was released Feburary 20th alongside the X360 version, it would've scored higher. But in reality, if it was released when the PS3 was supposed to launch, last March, April or May, it would've gotten the same score (maybe even lower considering that just about every multiplatform launch PS3 game scored higher on the X360) since it wouldn't have had the extra time to work on the better graphics and the extra modes.

Oh, I seemed to have missed the part where a score is deducted points for being out later.

Go figure :dunce:

tip: Maybe you shouldn't defend every review you come across, it really doesn't bode well for your credibility.

Just downloaded the 1.30 firmware. Supposedly, it fixes the problem with 1080i and older HDTVs.

I want to check out Tekken 2 on my PSP, but I need a larger memory stick. :guilty:

No it doesn't, the only updates the 1.30 firmware has, IIRC, is security patches and Blu-Ray remote control support, as well as a backup feature for the HDD.

Tekken 2 on the PSP would be cool for sure! :D

Tekken 2 for me is a classic. The second game I got for my first Playstation back in '96. I have played it since as it came with Tekken 5. But I'm also looking forward to the first Resident Evil to be downloadable. That was the third game I got!
