PS3 General Discussion

Hey guys I made a thread about DVD problems on my PS3, but no one posted so I'd try my luck here. I'm not gonna retype the whole story (Read DVD Playback) but the problem is my 80 gig PS3 is not recognizing DVDs. And I don't have the receipt to verify the purchase so I don't have to throw down 150 bucks, plus the warranty is gonna end in 3 months. Any advice?

According to the PS3 warranty page, you must have the bill of sale/receipt.

You could: 1) look for the receipt. 2) ask the store to reprint the receipt(probably a long shot). 3) plead to Sony with a sad, sad story(must be a long shot).

^Thanks for the help, but I came to terms that my PS3 won't play DVDs anymore. Now I got an excuse to get Blu-Ray movies!

I'll just get my PS2 out of storage and use that as my DVD player.

Just the DVD went out!? When mine busted, it stopped reading games & movies, standard DVD & Blu-ray.

I've had mine for almost a year and it is working great so far. I use it mainly for gaming, but watch a movie or two a week as well.

I've just noticed an article on my information board (UK) and it has an FAQ for PSN cards, when we can't even get PSN cards in the UK... are they just having a laugh or what?

They announced at GamesCom that they are coming to Europe. That is likely what it is about.

Did you click on it and see what it was saying?

I did, it was things like 'Where do I get them? Any store which sells PS3 games etc.' or words to the effect of.

PSN cards are indeed coming out here in the Uk ( finally).:sly: I guess the FAQ you saw on the information board is the same one as posted on the official site here:- http://uk.playstation.com/games-media/news/articles/detail/item228732/PlayStation-Network-Cards-FAQ/

PSN cards will launch in September ( no date has been given, as far as I am aware, maybe it will be the 1st ) in £20 and £50 denominations. Here is a link about them:-http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/hardware/accessories/detail/item228887/PlayStation®-Network-Cards/

Excellent, I was thinking surely this means they are here or coming soon. Annoyingly I'll be setting up a new bank account soon anyway so I won't really need em...

I call bull. I think it was sometime around then last time I posted a picture of LittleBigPlanet for PC...a box I saw at Gamestop.
Yes, it is bull. It is even a poorly shopped image. It is a Forza 3 image over a PS3 game case, but the Forza 3 image continues to the right, beyond the edge of the game case, and is flush with the side of the preview box that GameStop uses.

Which is such a more complicated process than setting up a card on it once, then just choosing what denomination you want.

Not everyone has or likes to use credit/debit cards.

Plus, it makes a nice gift for that gamer that loves DLC.

Wow, it looks like Sony America's Marketing is learning from the success of their MLB 09 ads, and making fun of their own news leak problems at the same time. No more weird acid trip babies.

C'MON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bernie Buncalan "Rumor Monger" sounds like a Kotaku editor and the boyfriend who hasn't hooked up his PS3 to the Internet sounds like an average 360 or Wii owner.

C'MOOOOON! I know, right?

"I concur. By far, the best PS3 commercials I've seen.

I still like the crying baby doll.

Good news God of War fans, and newcomers to the series. You will have a chance to play God of War and God of War 2 on your PS3 without backward compatibility, and at 720p graphics. With trophies.

The fans spoke and we listened.

For those that recall the God of War survey conducted earlier this year, an overwhelming amount of the community suggested the PlayStation 2 experiences of Kratos be brought forth to the PlayStation 3.

Thanks to your feedback, we are excited to announce the God of War Collection for this Holiday Season. Now fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic journey of God of War and God of War II in 720p HD form. Both titles have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics, running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, only on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring the PlayStation Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the very first time.

This is your chance to experience God of War is its true form before the chaos of God of War III hits store shelves come March 2010.
