Thank you guys. I really appreciate the trouble you took to relay your two on PCARS. 👍👍

It sounds like the game is buggy and somewhat rushed to make the release date. I've actually read similar comments on the Steam and official Forza forums.

Looks like I'll be safely skipping it for now. There's only so many games I can get for now, and I don't want to have any regrets playing games on a console I just got.
You'll be missing out on a really great experience.

It's crap with a pad. Some people just have different standards of what constitutes acceptable.
These are people I've raced with for years who play all sorts of racing games with a pad and they find it to be great with a pad. So in your opinion it's crap with a pad. Other people hold other opinions.

This so true, everyone has different expectations or an ability to adjust. I can't race worth a damn with a gamepad so when I say I don't like gamepad control in FM or GT or pCARS what does that mean...
I first tried AC with a gamepad while waiting for my new wheel to arrive. I thought AC had the best gamepad control of any racing game I ever played, but others complained. Their familiararity with the control of other games may have affected their opinion. Just saying. .

I totally agree with you. I just think it's a little unfair to put someone off a game when the reason is very subjective. The only real way to know is to try for yourself.

Half the problem seems to be platform. If your friends are on xb1 (I may have missed it if you already did say) is be interested to see what they're pad settings are to see if they feel good for me too.

Yes Xbone. We race every Sunday night in a comp so should be racing tomorrow. I'll ask them to post their settings and copy them across here to see if it can help anybody out.

Just catching up on a few comments. I should have mentioned that PCars on the XB1 is completely stable for me. I've never had a problem with it crashing or freezing or any other problem. So if it had problems with that on the XB1 in the past, it appears to have been rectified.

Second, I love Sebring. I find it to be technical, challenging and endless fun. I always vote for it when it comes up in the hoppers.

SMS kind of shot themselves in the foot by exposing so many FFB and control settings. Many spent way too much time tweaking looking for the perfect setup. I too (PC platform) tinkered but I enjoy this type of thing. Now I use the pCARS defaults for my wheel, the FFB and control feels good.

I agree with you on Sebring, one of my favorites. Maybe because it's a track I've been to IRL. I dislike SPA, boring for me. Others feel exactly the opposite but that just shows there isn't a right or wrong "preference".

Yeah it's a double edged sword. For those who want to tinker it's fantastic but for those who just want to pick up and play then it's all a bit daunting. Personally I have found being able to tune the ffb fantastic as I've been able to find the feel that I want. But can fully understand those who find it uneccessary.

I've had that Xbox Smartglass app for my phone for a couple months, but I just really started using it a bunch in the last couple of weeks. You get all your Xbox live messages on it, and can use your phone for messaging back. It's super handy for using it to communicate with someone who doesn't use a headset, or can read and type English, but not speak it very well. It's also nice, you don't have to back out of the game, to check your messages. You can just leave that message screen open on your phone, for communicating in the lobby, about which race or car class etc. you don't have to even have your phone on wifi, or connected to your Xbox for it to get messages. I think you can even use it to receive and send messages to Xbox live, while your Xb1 is turned off, or you are away from it. If you connect your phone/iPad to your xb1 using wi-fi, you can use your device as a remote while watching movies.

I'm sure most of you know this, but if not I figured I'd share this information. The messaging part really impressed me, it beats using a controller to message.

Okay, maybe I'll rent CARS to see for myself then. I'm also told it has none of those restrictive hidden controller aids found in Forza, so that sparks my interest somewhat.

@FuzzyFassbender I believe AC is coming out on the Xbx One in a month or two; and you say the control was pretty good on a pad. I checked out a few videos, and I absolutely loved how the driver's hands were crossing over when taking those sharp, low-speed corners. However, the guy was on a wheel. Can you tell me if your driver's hands also cross over realistically when turning on a pad? I had a friend tell me in CARS for example, the hands cross over only if you're using a wheel.

Assetto Corsa isn't even out though for XBone?

Honestly I don't know much about it other than that it has better physics and AI(?) than Forza.

But very few tracks and cars in comparison.

No idea how it will translate to XBONE though.

Do you know the Forza Hub App in W10? Get it. Besides the features it'll also give you some nice rewards.

I don't think you see the hand over hand if using a gamepad as the visual representation is so reduced - something like 180 degrees either way. The hands stay gripped to the wheel or just start to release to start a hand over hand.

Just done a 16 lap race on VIR West with an E class Golf, well I didn't complete it because I ran out of fuel with THREE corners to go!

The last 2 laps I was coasting around at 60mph to save fuel. I'd worked out at the end of lap 8 I would be fine without pitting but stupidly got into a rather heated 4 lap race with a BMW...

I feel slightly annoyed that I wasted 50 or so minutes with no reward but I can't stop laughing at my own stupidity.

I remember the first time that happened to me...

Sounds like an endurance race I had at Mugello in a Ferrari 288 GTO on FM4 where I ran out of gas on the last couple corners. All that racing down the tubes.

That's a bit poor. I assume the car dies on the side of the road and you can only restart/exit?

Why dont they do the Gran Turismo thing and let you limp back to the pits in 1st?

Yeah, when you're out..You're out. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is.

Same! I'm usually really good at monitoring my fuel, but when I did the Sebring 300, I ended up staying out one extra lap, and ended up out of gas on the back straight on lap 50 something! I was upset at first, but then the Toyota TS040 rammed me going into the last turn and that got me enough of a boost to make it to the pits!

As promised, see if these are any good:

That was by far worse than anything I'd tried previously lol. Way to twitchy, game isn't worth the trouble. Thanks for the settings though! I wanted that game to be good, but it's like shift2 bad with a control.
