These alongside Albert Park would be great.:)

Oh wow...that red pearly beauty! That the new 458?

Having ran the first third of the Porsche career tonight, I have to ask, why wasn't (at least part of) the base game structured like this!?! The Porsche Anthology is as fun and well defined as the base career is boring and randomly thrown together.

They could have taken several of the manufacturers that have extended car lists (i.e. Audi, BMW, Chevy, Ford, Ferrari, Nissan) and made similar anthologies, hopefully this is something they consider for future installments.
Argh, that dreaded 914 one make race at Maple Valley. I'll take a pass.

Just bought a Logitech G290 wheel, gearbox and a decent stand for it! The last wheel I owned was for the 1st Toca touring cars game on the ps1, Gran Turismo didn't even exist lol.

So I take it the wheel will be easy enough to setup on the Xbox? Also I've got Project Cars on the PS4, will I be able to use my wheel on the PlayStation or will I need to buy the game for the Xbox One?

Each console has a version of the G290 unfortunately. So if you wanna use a wheel on the ps4 you'd need to buy another g290. Just another con really.

Yeah I kind of thought that was the case Gotbeefboy564 and StoneyNUFC. I'll just get Project Cars for the Xbox One at the end of the month, cheaper than buying another wheel.

Indeed. And pCARS on X1 is way better now than it was at launch 👍

How is PCARS on the pad? I've been reading mixed reviews all over the web. Saw some gameplay videos. Not too impressive. The cars do not sound right. The visuals are pretty run of the mill as well.

I think I will skip it, unless it is worth checking out. What say?

I know this reply isn't to me, but I'll like to share it anyway. I got pCARS for the PS4 and must say I wasn't too impressed with the controls. The game itself is good but I had to keep toggling with the control settings to get the right feeling as it wasn't a "Pick up and Play" game. Not so sure about the XB1 version though, haven't tried so can't add anything in that area.

As @TokoTurismo touched on, the controls are wonky at first. I haven't played basically since it came out, but when I first picked it up, they essentially leave it up to you to figure out a control setting that works. The thing that sucks about it is that the settings options is in the main menu of the game, so in order to get going with it you'll have to change it in the main menu, go into game and test it out, and if it doesn't work you'll have to repeat the process. It's time consuming to say the least.

Also, like he mentioned, it does actually have it's moments, but the Xbox One version is the worst out of the 3 platforms it came out on. Lots of bugs.

... bugs and performance issues, that's what killed it for me. I'm not sure if it's that I got so used to a rock solid 60 fps with Forza but sadly pCARS became unplayable on xbone. Lots of stuttering and weird "elastic time" issues when taking corners, last time I tried it it was much better but force feedback felt horrible on my TX wheel.

The concept of the game is beautiful though, when you get it working good and set it up so as there aren't many performance issues (small track, number of rivals, no rain, etc) it just shines. The experience is great and you feel like you are in a real race with things like hearing your race engineer.

In short, great game that fell short due to Xbox's poor hardware. I'd grab a copy from the bargain bin only.

Yeah, if ever I've had buyer's remorse with a game, it was the XB1 version of PCARS. I *might* pick up the GOTY edition on PS4 some time in the summer, though.

Slight rant time: is the EK Civic just a proclamation of a dirty racer in the D hoppers? They tend to be fast, since 90% seemingly run the OG OLDMAN tune, but it's doubly frustrating when a fast player is always cutting corners and PIT'ing folks. I had a hell of a time earlier today with some of them – in one of the big teams no less, going by their three-initial tag – and ended up cutting my time short out of sheer frustration.

Do not use a pad on the Xbox One. I have tried and tried again but have never been able to get the settings right and it's a very time consuming process going from the track to the settings menu and vice versa. It's great on a wheel, but only after you have dialed in your settings, as ImaRobot mentioned they don't tell you anything about how to configure your controller or wheel. The game is also not very enjoyable unless you are a really good tuner since every car has quirks and has to be set up differently for each track and such.

If you have a lot of time and patience and like to be able to tune literally everything, then you might enjoy it. If not, well you'll probably regret your purchase like I did.

I bought PCars for XB1, and I'm kind of ambivalent about it. I use a controller and I'm not fond of the force feedback. Driving a Caterham feels like it's going to snap in two on every corner, the force feedback is so extreme. But if I ignore it, then the racing is actually quite good and there is a nice selection of tracks and cars now. Still, with the practice and qualifying before you can actually get in a race, it cuts into my racing time. I usually run a single race and then move on to FM, FH or GT.

Sad to hear that about PCars, was thinking about giving it another go after getting the Elite controller. Tuning ever thing on the car would be alright if the control worked worth a crap.

Thank you guys. I really appreciate the trouble you took to relay your two on PCARS. 👍👍

It sounds like the game is buggy and somewhat rushed to make the release date. I've actually read similar comments on the Steam and official Forza forums.

Looks like I'll be safely skipping it for now. There's only so many games I can get for now, and I don't want to have any regrets playing games on a console I just got.

I'm so split on the American tracks.

Like: Lime Rock Park, VIR, Sonoma, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glenn
Ehhh:CoA
Dislike: Road America, Road Atlanta, Long Beach, Indianapolis, Daytona

For the most part I either love them or hate them.

Also, yeah, PCars would be great if it was at least semi-stable. I'm sure the PC edition is great, but I already spent however much that digital deluxe pre-order edition on the Xbone was ($85/90?).

In Australia it was going for $100 AUD which at the time was about $100 USD .:banghead:

Only the same as with Thrustmaster though, who offer multiple wheels for the Xbox one and PS4 individually. And Fanatec are hoping to do the same with the interchangeable wheel hubs for the CSW wheels they sell. So it is hardly something that only Logitech are doing.

Also, its the G920 wheel on the Xbox one/pc, and the G29 on the PS4/PS3/PC.

Which if I'm fairly certain I never said it was. Fully aware other brands do it.

Yes, but the blame for this situation with racing wheels shouldn't be pointed at the wheel manufacturers, which is my point. All this hassle over racing wheels, is purely because Sony use Direct input and Microsoft still use Xinput. Not to mention that both like to have wheels on their systems which have the correct button symbols for the particular console they are to be used on.

The whole thing would be vastly simpler if they both just used direct input, and if they didn't care what symbol was on the wheel.

But I digress, it is not the wheel manufacturers themselves that are "conning" us, but Sony and Microsoft putting them in a position where they have no choice but to offer up individual solutions for either console.

Anyway, my last post was to point out to "others" the situation. As anyone looking for advice on a wheel, may see that and think you was calling Logitech out. It is a little "slim" on the informational side. It was not a dig at you or your opinion.

That bumpy section at the end is the bit I find fun. The first two thirds aren't the best, but the final third I find good fun. I've not driven there in months, actually. Might take something around there tonight.

VIR = easily among the most exciting tracks I've ever experienced in a game. Second to none. In fact, in Forza I think it is THE most exciting track on offer, though The Ring is a close contender. Anyway, I have to get into all the tracks a bit more to pass out a fair assessment.

No worries 👍. It was only slim on the information side as he was only talking about his Logitech wheel.
