Thanks zh:tup:unter

You're welcome

Holy cow! I just cant put my hands off the wheel. Shift 2 should be rated 9.5/10 after this patch, nothing to complain but a little twitchy when counter steering, it should be lighter for quicker response especially in Nordschleife. Anyway. no big deal, we'll get used to it soon.

but I went straight to the ring with a GT1 car and got a freeze :scared: so I cant say with all honesty that it was worth it.... because Im now officialy waiting for patch 1.03 the anti freeze patch....

So they are officially trolling us, I'm gonna trolling them a little, SMS are like Britney Spears: "Oops! I did it again" :banghead: :D

This patch is really really awsome! It's a total new game. The driving feeling is far far far better than GT5 now: no more input lag with my G27, and a very strong FFB! No more to say: this game is now the most fun to play.

Seriously, driving the GT3 and GT1 car is now a real drivegasme! All the people who are not enthusiast about the game should give it a new try. Even stocks and works feel really cool!

I'm really happy to see the game getting the real great gameplay it should had since the release.
Good drive to everybody :D

No way I could drive this car before this patch.

I'm going to get some fun today re-doing the career mode:drool:

Agreed.👍

Stock cars work pretty well, I dont need to waste too much time messing around with suspension anymore. Just few tweaks and you're good to go. Lower ride height for non bumpy tracks, increase negative camber if you feel unstable as well with increasing down forces, choose your suitable steering lock, tweak the brake pressure, those are enough for good racing day.

Man, I love what I'm hearing about this patch.

Can't wait to buy Shift 2 tomorrow and download the patch so I can see how different it is from when I first rented it.

If you liked the game before, you'll absolutely love it now. It's now 100% pure, freshly squeezed awesome :)

Ya know, I think this game is currently on 82 at metacritic.
Behind Blur and the other one I can't remember but come out the same time.

Don't think it's getting the credit it deserves.
One other thing. I'm a massive fan of 60fps. Now I know the title doesn't reach any where near that but how come it doesn't bother me? Seems nice and smooth to me.

Anyhow patch 1.02 tup.

really amazing, i started the D events and it feels amazing, i'm destroying my previous times, like romknight said.. i made a 2.48 with an s3 in shangai, first race. I also give a try to the first time trial, the porsche on nurburg (1,24 objective on hard) and i made at the first lap 1,22 with ease, before the patch i was dying to go under 1.24. I decided to start again all the career cause it's totally a new game. AMAZING.. now i can sell gt5 cause i don't give a **** about it anymore.. and when psn store will be up and i'll be able to download legend dlc with old hockeneim.. oh God..

Maybe because its steady 30fps (except maybe for suzuka)... much better than Shift 1

This patch just turned a great game into a superb game. Racing doesn't get better than this.

You obviously haven't tried any REAL SIM Racing !

Shift 2 is a toy compared to RBR, SIMBIN, iRacing and rFactor !

Sure it's a fun game but the longevity of it is not going to last very long !

This game is hard even on easy difficulty or I'm I using the wrong car in my career or is it the patch is the cause.

The D and C events should be easy enough with any car. But the fastest D car I've found is the S3. In C class it's probably the GT-R.

Yup for fanatec pwts owners, 1.02 is mixed blessings...

Ive now tested on both xbox and ps3 side by side.

The xbox has worst ffb than it was with 1.01, more bugs and less weight to the wheel.
A pity otherwise it feels like a step forward. Eg you can now use speed sense 0, as no swaying :)

On the ps3 completely different, it finally works great with the fanatec wheel, love the ffb , I'd say it's quite similar to how the xbox felt with 1.01

Leaves me with a dilemma, keep playing the xbos with legends and auto log,
Or switch back to ps3 for a while, till they fix what they broke on the xbox 1.02 patch :(

Some events are more challenging than others if you are new to the feel of the game ... Because the cars are a bit tricky. ( hard to say if patch has helped, since I'm used to cars now)

Also, the difficulty levels don't seem to do much.
what I find is it's easier to lead a race from the front, than it is to chase down an AI than has pulled out a lead.

But enjoy, it's the close racing that makes this game so much fun

Put Damper -3 Drift +2 or 3 on fanatec and xbox is back to normal.

Pause if FF drops out though.
Online loses FF so that is a bummer.

I know spring and damper is not advertised on Fanatecs site to work on xbox only PC and PS3 but it does.
Strange.

Hmm. Just did half of the Manufacturer challenges with the new patch. I m a little disappointed, tbh, cant join the raves the 1.02 patch gets. Force feedback is ok now but I still experience this goddamn input lag, doesnt feel too different at all. And still its buggy, third race in it placed my S4 the wrong way at the starting line, I also lost a livery despite not selling any car with livery on it...

Sigh.

I m using a DFGT on ps3. And before you ask, yeah I resetted the wheel and changed the settings afterwards again...

To be fair everything is a toy compared to RBR...

Give SIMBIN RACE07 + the latest expansion a try !

I searched a long time for an all tarmac alternative to RBR and I bought SIMBINs RACE07 (GTR Evolution, STCC, Race On, Formula RaceRoom and GT Power Expansion)

The SIMBIN team are actually real racers who have driven REAL race cars ! And it show in their SIMs !

I have owned just about every single racing game since the mid 90's.
I have sold/uninstalled every single one except RBR and the SIMBINs.

Shift 2 will probably stay for a couple of months but I can feel already that it is just the flavour of the month game. Fun but it will not last very long !

Once I sold a GT1 car (those cars dont have custom liverys) and lost my Reventon livery, fortunatly I checked before the game saved...

What are your current settings for your wheel?

Shift 2 is certainly much more fun and will last a lot longer for me than GT5, and that's all I care about to be honest. Doesn't matter to me how it is compared to other sims.

GT5 LOL ! All those years of waiting and what do you get !

GT5P was enough for me to sense that GT5 was going to suck ! and sure enough it did !

I agree the SIMBIN stuff is amazing, particularly how they model debris on tires (dirt from an off, marbles etc) is extremely realistic.

My input on the 1.02 patch - I honestly didn't notice ANY difference in regards to how the cars handle. The FFB feels identical to how it did on 1.01 (DFGT) - I have absolutely NO idea what everyone else is experiencing (placebo effect possibly). The only thing I noticed is that the AI seems to be less aggressive (unless that's just how the GT1 events are, I just started them on 1.02) - I can usually take the lead in turn 1 and space the rest of the race - before I at least had a struggle for a few turns (if I didn't get punted in T1).

Yeah... Im right everyone else is wrong... I know that feeling :dopey:

Pray tell, is there anyone out there in the land of Oz that has the patch? Plugged my Fat to the internet last night and nothing. So in short, is the patch now avaliable in Australia?

Reading the positive comments I really want to have a go at reseting my records in Autolog. Sort of used to the Psn beeing off line and if the patch is now avaliable in Australia it will carry me through another week or so with the rumored improvments to the G27 ffb it should be even better than it already is. I have another 8 hours of work left and then(with the wife away) looking forward to a long night of door to door racing with the AI Bobs. please let it be.

Unfortunately You're not alone!
I can't, also share all the hype about the patch 1.02 V.
Mind You that I use a DS3, so, probably, there is a wheel improvement handling that I can't feel, but the game feels absolutely the same for me.I never thought that the so described "lag" input was very noticeable-at least since patch 1.01v, I only played without it for a couple of nights- so I feel no improvement in that department...lap times are pretty much the same( a little improvement but probably due to repetition and tuning improvement). People that are claiming that they improved a lot their lap times are basically going back to the first events where they struggled right?Like 1 month ago when they bought the game? I've tried some of the tracks I've played last night(Silverstone,Road America, Brno) in the same cars-GT1 and GT3- and the lap times were close to Yesterday plus second give or take, nowhere near the 9 secs-in total time events, obviously- improvements echoed here-to be honest I really don't think no one would do 9 secs below the times I have in tracks like R.A; Spa; Donington; Silverstone Laguna Seca etc.. in the GT1 and GT3 cars.and I'm just an average player!
The collision system seems to be more forgiving but might just be "placebo effect", I already enjoyed the game, for what it is IMO- A VERY FUN ARCADE RACING GAME.I still do same as Yesterday.
But I stopped playing to write this post because...The frikking thing just froze on me...AGAIN!!!:grumpy::irked::banghead::mad::boggled:

...The frikking thing just froze on me...AGAIN!!!:grumpy::irked::banghead::mad::boggled:

That is the one issue I have left with the game... if they fix that then Ill be happy.

The patch does improve the experience with a wheel a lot... I believe that Ive read here on a post from Ian Bell that the imput lag was mainly a problem when playing with a wheel...

It is funny that you insist on calling the game Arcade when I really feel the tire and suspension modeling to be far superior to GT5 as is the damage model and Im not the only one there are alot of people ver at Racedepartment and No Grip Racing that feel the same way... it sure isnt a Sim but it is closer to being one than GT5.
