Should GT6 include cockpit view when 95% of players don't use it?

If they got rid of cockpit view to give us more premium cars then yeah am all for it as long as the hood cam is on the hood and not on the roof :)

Premium cars are all about perfection which means having cockpit views, so I doubt that they will do that.

I will never buy another racing game unless cockpit view is included.

Should GT6 include wheel support when 95% of players don't use it?

Should GT6 include 7.1 PCM multichannel audio when 95% of players don't use it?

Should GT6 include 3D support when 95% of players don't use it?

Should GT6 include head-tracking when 95% of players don't use it?

Should GT6 include Comfort tire-compound when 95% of players don't use it?

Should GT6 include mechanical damage when 95% of players don't use it?

Should GT6 include variable weather when 95% of players don't use it?

Should GT6 include 60fps when 95% of players don't notice it?

PROTIP: Answer on all above questions is "yes" ;)

Although I see the point you're trying to make, if you had the choice between head tracking or all cars with cockpit view, what would you pick? :) Also, a lot more than 5% of people use variable weather and 60 fps would be a noticeable improvement on the 20 fps you can sometimes get.

I think the gaming experience people get from GT5 and what they expect of the game varies a lot.

Many people probably wouldnt have picked up GT5 without 3D, because they got a brand new 3D capable tv and wanted to test this feature.

Others wouldnt have bought it, if there were only japanese car makers available in the game.

People use features and the content in various combinations and prefer or dislike certain parts. What makes no sense to one player, will let another player have the time of his life.

They cant satisfy the needs and expectations of every racer. Just keep that in mind. :dopey:

Oh and I hope that GT6 will be more like this:

Just clean graphics, amazing sound and a solid physics engine.

I hope this discussion about cockpit support or not, could end now.

I dont want to hear that they could 20 more premiums for excluding the cockpit view.

Your poll is based on hardcore users of GT5, the Codemasters data was based on usage stats of the Codemasters games, allegedly.

Essential to have cockpit views for game to be a real driving simulator, especially with nowadays programming skills. So I definitely think they would have cockpit views in gt6! :)

That is correct. While I dont think that the use of the cockpit view in GT5 is as low as 5%, I have a good idea why codemasters got this result.

I mean lets face it. Anybody who played GRID and Dirt 1+2+3 or just one of them has to admit that the cockpit view was rubbish. It looks pretty strange, the camera bounces around and the wheel/arm animations are nearly epileptic. Codemasters tried to simulate the camera movement like EA with their Shift-games, maybe with a different approach, but with the same outcome: We, the gamers dont like it. It shows in sales and in their statistics of the cockpit use.

I know that your head is not still while driving on a rallye or tarmac track at racing speeds, but this movement gets stabilized by your eyes. Our eyes cant stabilize those reproduced effects in a game, it is just not possible. They have to give us a clear and stable cockpit view.

And I think that the use of the cockpit view in GT5 is way higher. Besides the use while racing, the view is also interesting for checking out the inside of the car. Even someone who is not playing with a 400 € and a racing rig wants to see how an Audi R8 looks in the inside. If you have the same car that is represented ingame you want to check how accurate it is on the inside too.

Yes they should add it. Weirdly i haven't used it much, although i use the cockpit view in lfs and race07 regularly. They should add options to adjust the cockpit view, like in race07 and maybe even add look to apex slider but i doubt that.

I actually like cockpit view in Dirt. All the bouncing around adds a nice visceral effect imo and of course a racing game should have cockpit view.

Not directed at the quote, just in general my strong opinion (note OPINION) is that anything other than cockpit view is lame.

One of the most ridiculous threads based on terribly flawed and incorrect statistics.

Yeah, it would be fun to see this thread revived.

With better statistics.

Maybe they can add FOV adjustment like most pc games have for cockpit racing. The driver is sat to close to the wheel in gt5 it makes the mirrors next to useless and the abilty to move the seat up/down/forward/back.

I can agree with FOV adjustment and seat position. Still in GT5 I think the cockpit views are the best in the market. There is no need of adjustment at all. And you have some little options to change it though.

But yes, since there are different preferences in this area, it can be great to have little more options for everybody. (I always adjust the seat in simulators on PC so)

PS: Also kind of out of topic...lol

There are some cockpits which I don't like. Both the Jaguar XKs have you sitting very low, and so you don't see the top of the windscreen. I'm not sure whether it's like this in real life, but I would like to adjust it.

I don't know about the 95% figure, but the explanation of resource allocation the corporate guy said surely makes sense. Since I never use cockpit view, and that view seems to be a resource drain, I'd definitely be fine with getting rid of it, IF there were some tangible benefit to the game as I play it.

If GT6 doesn't have cockpit view, I will have to result in retreating to a corner in a far away dark room and reducing myself to a trembling, crying mess.

Then after a few days or so, I'll get back up and play the game. Crying.

I laughed out loud, mainly because i see myself like that if GT6 were to exclude interiors. :(

Cockpit view is great for imersion into the car, but they should make it so when racing online you can force everyone to use only cockpit view by making the other views un-available as it can be a disadvantage to be the only one using it.

I thought this 20 page nonsense thread was locked?
I mean seriously, Look at the title.

Interior view works better if you prefer to use mirrors than the rear view button in online racing. Hood ornament view is cool if you want to hear the loudness of the engine and the environment. I prefer the interior view but, if it makes for a better game not to include it, I won't feel either way.
