Up to 8 mph difference down the big straight at WG.

Two events in a row I'm fighting from the rear in the first race because of a first turn incident. And only making up spots when other people crash. Playing leap frog with everyone else as I am helpless down the straights. Slipstream doesn't exist for me.

Put a nice dent in my coffee table after yet another first turn incident in the last race.

Fun.

I get your frustration and lack of speed in the straights, but your lap times and fight in the corners and braking zone puts your pace on par with 3/4 of the field. We did have 3-4 fast pace outliers, but most everyone was in the fast lap pace of 1:52.6-1:53.2. What happens when I give you back 5 points and you not only have the pace in the braking zone and corners, but then have the additional speed in the straights?....you end up 0.5 sec faster consisitently, placing you consistently in the fastest pace since you wouldn't be running 10/10ths. Being one of our more skilled drivers, this is the challenge being presented. Can you be consistent at that 10/10ths? That's where the rest of us are at when we have to race guys like you just to keep up. Your pace was on par with the field, enough that you were able to qualify 9th and climb back up to 8th in both races from the back after unfortunate tie ups. Had you not been unlucky at the start of both, you would have probably been top 5-6 where Worst finished. This series is set up, by design, to present the toughest challenge to the fastest and most skilled drivers among our group. If you watch the replays, your pace was dead on what the majority of the field was running, barring the few mentioned outlier fast laps. This is set up to make you, Worst, and the other fast drivers have to fight like hell for a top 5. Apples for apples, I know you have 2 sec/lap on me. If we ran straight up, you could run 7-8/10ths with ridiculous consistency while I'm running 11/10ths and still not marking your pace. I was in the low-mid 1:53's all of R1, and didnt find 52's until I pushed myself to the edge of losing it to find those extra few tenths in R2. Again, the idea is to put you fast guys in the uncomfortable spot. Its not perfect, and impossible to make it perfect at every track for every car. But its the closest we can get to achieve parity among so many different skillsets running in one series. And it shows. Watch the replays to see how many multi-car battles were running, and for multiple laps. Its about the challenge and the battles. I have yet to win overall one time in any of my series, but the challenge and the intense battle are worth more to me than the standings. Hope you can change your perspective to see it that way.

And for the sake of transparency, please see the chart of Time Trial data from all drivers. The values on the left are the intial TT times for everyone at 650.00pp. The numbers to the right are times after adjustements were made to verify the change based on the leveling reference chart. Then, to the far right is the final adjustment if it was necessary. Average lap pace is the value used for leveling. I take the opt lap and fast lap and count them in twice each. Then every lap inside of 2 seconds of the fast lap is counted. I add up all the times in seconds, and then divide by number of laps to get the avg.
Screenshot_20241214_005711_Sheets.jpg

This next chart is the leveling reference chart for an approximation of how much the changes should manipulate the pace.
Screenshot_20241214_010012_Sheets.jpg

As you can see, with a -5pp handicap, you were still well faster the the average pace requiring at least another 0.5 sec to get you into the average pace window, and you would still be on the fast side of the average pace range. If I adjust yours, I would then open myself up to having to adjust everyone for each track in each car anytime someone was off the the pace or felt they should have finished better. With that said, take this series for what it is. You probably won't win alot of races, maybe none. But I can ensure a challenge and alot of door to door action.

Because other's crashed. If nobody had made mistakes, I can guarantee I would have finished ~12-14th.

I would gladly trade some weight for power, but that's not possible it sounds like so I'll have to think about this one for a while. Watching people pull bus lengths on me down the straights is not fun at all. What's even worse is getting past someone, only to have them drag past me on the straight. Over, and over, and over. Not only does it slow us both down, things start to get messy and then someone ends up in a barrier.

Just spent the last 2 hours flogging my car through the local canyons and man, what a stress reliever. But now I have to figure out what to do about the hole in my coffee table.

I have participanted in this series several times and for the middle of the season the cars will be come very similar in speed. Then skill and consistency will be the key.

I feel fruststed when im passed at strsigths but i had intense battles elsewere pushing me to make my best moves

You and me had a great battle at the end of race 1, you catched me cause you have better tire saving so thinngs like that is something will level up paces among the racers

Just wait a couple races and for sure you will be top 5.

This format is awesome cause is too much fun and balanced among clean driving (at least that is the intention and some mistakes may happen)

Last night was a lot of fun, I ended both races with sore arms and sweat trying to keep my car on the track especially late in the races when my tires were shot at about lap 14/15 in both. The battle between Ducati, Radliff, Myself and Widowmaker in the first race was intense and I had to fight with A. Miller for most of the race (who I can tell is a better driver than myself). Not easy at all.

In the second race the front pack was tight and there was an early slowing that shaped things in the field, just luck.

All of that to say, I fought really hard to place where I did and I know you all did too and not getting the result you want is frustrating. Dont lose hope, lets get back out there for round 3 with good prep and tunes!

Confirm for Round 3, missed 2 others because things out of my control. Should be in far better shape for both practice and showing up for the 3rd race.

Will also have required Time Trial stuff done and sent probably tomorrow night @llNovall

Did just want to note, that the preliminary standings after two events are very close in driver standings among the top 4 and the team standings. I'd like to point out the top 4 that are seperated by 4 points after two events are represented by each driver level. Should shape up to be quite the race for this series.
I will have the actual Post Race Report up after the IR filing period has ended and scores are finalized.
If anyone needs an incident reviewed, please do not hesitate to send me a request for review by Monday 8pm est.

Want to thank all the guys that helped me with suggestions too get more pace, that’s the camaraderie that keeps me racing.
Crazy trying different turbos and short shifting gained me 3 secs in pace.
Also I might of been racing over my head a little but been awhile being semi competitive in MPC,
I’m sure I was a headache for @socalnatv, hard racing but clean, great battle with @DublDee race1 and me and @llNovall trading M4 paint race 2 was fun.
Thanks for the racing guys and gals, I’ll try to be more level headed next round but once controller in my hand who knows that can change lol.

@Bologna_Duc took pole position with a blistering 1:51.974. Considering he came into the event with a neutral PP of 650.00 on RH tires, that's a crazy fast time. I spent some time with other drivers in practice lobbies in the weeks leading up to the event and haven't seen a 1:51 until about an hour prior to @llNovall 's lobby opening up where I believe I saw @radliffracing put one up on the board. My jaw dropped when I saw that 1:51`s were reachable.

Well done @Bologna_Duc on getting your best lap when it mattered most.

Event #2 / Race #1
And they're off!! - A great T1 by @radliffracing allows him to take the lead from @Bologna_Duc . Another great looking grid.

Lap #1:
As expected, the 1st time through the Bus-Stop was very congested. I got on my brakes a tad late, touched the wall made light contact with @Noob01_lmdead and pushed him wide. I waited briefly and we were both able to get back into it with only a few dropped spots.

Lap #1:
@radliffracing and @Bologna_Duc running 1st and 2nd a little out of this picture. @Mac1032763 , @JDMKING13 @socalnatv , @Kgffy and @DublDee are running nose-to-tail entering Sector 3.
SHARE_20241215_0448060.jpeg

Lap #4:
@Bologna_Duc has regained his lead. He's leading a still tight pack a few turns from the end of lap #4.
SHARE_20241215_0448240.jpeg

Lap #5:
Some slight contact at T1 between @THMP and @Bologna_Duc caused @Bologna_Duc to go a tad wide. He'd re-enter in 5th position. @THMP is leading and there appears to be a little more space between the cars at this point. In the background, @llNovall and @Worst_Driver are engaged in a battle that lasted several laps.
SHARE_20241215_0448420.jpeg

Lap #5:
@socalnatv slightly touched grass on the outside part of the track entering the last turn and caused a spin.
SHARE_20241215_0449070.jpeg

Lap #9:
@THMP led the race from Lap 5 until early Lap 9. Very little daylight is visible between @Bologna_Duc and @THMP in this pic that captures the moment @Bologna_Duc recaptured his lead.
SHARE_20241215_0449250.jpeg

Lap #10:
@DublDee was running in 7th when he lost control at the Bus-Stop. Replay shows that he also got T-Boned by @Worst_Driver during his spin. He'd fall to 15th before he would gather himself.
SHARE_20241215_0449430.jpeg

Lap #11:
An unforced error by @llNovall as he cuts into the Bus-Stop a little too early and touches the wall. He also would lose control would drop to 14th where he'd find @DublDee .
SHARE_20241215_0450140.jpeg

Lap #12:
The Bus-Stop is clearly angry today and claims another victim. This time it's @radliffracing , who is having a great race and just moved into 3rd before getting the Bus-Stop wrong. Being a true gentleman, he let all traffic go by before re-entering the track way back in 16th spot.

Lap#13:
I was going to leave this pic on the cutting room floor but I got a laugh out of it. After their mishaps, @llNovall and @DublDee found each other at the back of the grid and seemed to have a fun couple laps together. But @DublDee came out of the last turn too hot and clipped the outside wall which sent him for a spin down the pit entry l lane. I'm guessing he was a mere couple feet from triggering the pit-entry sequence and had to get creative to maneuver his way out.

Lap #16:
By this time, most groups were a little more dispersed. But there's still some head-to-head battles going on.
@JDMKING13 and @Kgffy are battling for 4th
@Noob01_lmdead and @CodeRedR51 are battling for 8th
And @CdnSweetTee and @llNovall are battling for 11th as shown below.

@llNovall actually passed @CdnSweetTee on the following straight but gave her the spot back before the finish line. My guess is to atone for them having a coming together in an early part of the race. It's stuff like this that I like about SNAIL.
SHARE_20241215_0451160.jpeg

Lap #17:
@THMP was running in 3rd but @JDMKING13 and @Kgffy were right there to take his place if he made a slight mistake. @JDMKING13 was in 4th but @Kgffy (and his controller) put together a fantastic last sector to pass him before the finish line.
SHARE_20241215_0451370.jpeg

Lap #17:
@Mac1032763 always kept himself visible to @Bologna_Duc but in the end, @Bologna_Duc was just too much and never gave up the lead he earned in Lap #9.

Event #2 / Race #1 Broadcast:

Final Thoughts:
  • I'll try to get the Race #2 recap done sometimes in the next several days. It is pretty time consuming.
  • For those that take a peek at the Race Broadcast through the link above, I'm pretty new to that, they should get better with time.
  • Looking for more racing action as we await Event #3 of this series? Look no further than Snail's Sunday Night Spec League.
  • It is best to scroll through these with a tablet or laptop.
That's how I interpreted Race #1
