Okay, tonight is the night!

I haven't updated the cars listed in the second post. I'll do that after the race. I know JTQ's team has already switched their GT car to the BMW 1 Series.

If they want to run the V12, then please, send me a picture. I really don't know if that car will fit. Mind you, there are other Astons that might.

I already know of two drivers that will miss tonight. :( That is a shame.

And remember, the GT class will be in the SNAIL_Division2 lounge and the SC class will be in the SNAIL_Division3 lounge.

The SC car is the BMW 135i Coupe '07, and the GT car will be the Aston Martin Vanquish '04

Dabney and I will be in different divisions, so I've asked him to run the other division. He will be setting up the room, starting the races, and recording the finishes.

Can you give me write access to the spreadsheet?

So we are running Suzuka twice tonight? Each race will be over 45mins? That's a long night ;)

Should be fun with pits and everything.

If you think you will have a room with connection issues then I can host if necessary. I have a 50/25 connection. I have never hosted one of these so you'd have to let me know what I need to do. But I can if necessary.

Do you know what class you're running in? I'll be hosting for GT (I also have a 50/25 connection) but if you're going to be in SC, it would be great if you could show up before everyone and make sure you're the host.

Hosting is little more than us using your allstar internet connection :)

All the room setup etc in SC will be done by Vol

Once you get in the room, everyone else can leave and rejoin and let you shuffle to the top.

Will do.

For some stupid reason, Google+ circles are not synced with GMail Contacts. So when you are in a Google Drive document, you can't add someone just because they are in a Circle.

I am not racing. I am just a concerned team owner hoping his drivers do well enough to keep the sponsors happy :)

Do the tuners need to add the snail_division psn's? And, are we going to need to be at any of the races? Or can we bounce back and forth watching?

You don't need to be there. If you want to watch, you will need to send the friend requests.

Though, at this late hour, I don't know if Zero will get on to accept them.

Dabney and I will post the replays.

I've sent all my drivers their car now, if any are reading and don't know they've gotten it. I sent 2 in the last hour.

I'll send you each the other car as I can send cars the next 4 days, so you guys can choose who drives what at each track.👍

Life I apologize for contacting you on lap one of race 2. My bad, I'll take whatever penalty is assessed.

That was fun :D

My apologies for hitting you in that first race, Hill....I just couldn't swing to the inside of the short straight leading to that right-hander prior to the bridge quick enough :(

And the second race, wow does heavy damage to the back make you slow! I didn't even think you hit me at first, Vol....I certainly found out on the straight coming off the hairpin, had to hold the wheel at about 30 degrees to the right to go in a straight line and then noticed the little red circle

Excellent fun racing with Hill and Vol in race one and spooble at the end of race two though 👍

This is a good point. If anyone wants to file a protest, please send a PM to me and whomever the protest is against. It will follow the regular SNAIL rules. I'll find some people to review the replays. (which I'll upload tomorrow)

From my point of view Tez, I think Hill re-entered the track inappropriately. I wasn't but so close, but it looked to me that it was Hill's fault.

As to me hitting you, I don't know what you saw, but I t-boned your left side door pretty squarely. My front-end was completely messed up on both sides and I had to pit at the end of the first lap.

I'm really really sorry about it.

I just had a look at the race two replay as well.....maybe I just zoned out for a few seconds and didn't realise the hit was that hard? :dunce:

I was trying to regain control of my car and still leave room for another car. I'll take the blame though.

Was a fun night, especially when ADR and I were battling in the second race. Have to say that Shelby is a bit too fast down the straights. I did a speed test with one just now and it's not too different in the 1/4 mile, 0-60 or 0-100 but over the mile it's .7 of a second faster than the vette and that's with stock gearing. Who knows how fast it is the way they have it tuned. It might be nice to figure out some way to make it more equal because it was not even close once we hit the straights.

They may have run with low downforce

So with the wing on and full downforce times were actually faster. Even with 100 k extra weight and full downforce times were faster. Anywho just found it interesting and maybe something the organizers could look at to see if there's anyway to make it more equal. If not I'll just have to work even harder for next week. :)

According to the replay on the home straight you reached like 146 mph and the Shelby can reach 150 mph, its about how it was with the RX8 versus the Shelby last season. But @ Mazda I doubt it will make much a difference, I was actually able to lap faster than Might_Mopar's Shelby with the RX8.

No wing on the Shelby so no downforce...thus higher top speed. I tested ALOT and found that the Shelby advantage was its speed and putting a wing on it would take that away.

Every car has it's advantages and disadvantages.

And of course Bronco and Jones drove the piss out of them :)

But with this schedule it has an advantage @ Suzuka, Monza, and Spa. If maybe the schedule include Mazda and another course with lots of turns it would help even out the season though. Like a street course.

The track choices played a role in my car choice in the SC class.

The combo of a good car and great drivers usually result in good finishes :)

I'm proud of everyone on my team. Too bad Rainmaker couldn't finish either race. Hopefully next week!

If you want to make it more even, mandate the rear wing. For next season.

It was completely accidental, took me out, and by the time i pitted there was no coming back, but it's my first week ever doing this, and I got last the first race, so no harm done. Struggled with the length of the race, if I'm B-spec bob I'm only level 5-6 haha.

Edit: I have read the rules a bit more extensively, and realize I have broken one. I quit the race in which I was hit, rather than exiting, so I will accept whatever penalties I face aswell, and I will be sure to go back and read them all more thoroughly.

Just keep at it and you'll hone those driving skills pretty quickly 👍

One main thing that being part of S.N.A.I.L. has helped me with is spatial awareness and how to race against people who are going at similar pace to yourself :)

Just thought I'd post the test results for the fun of it. I did a run with the corvette and got 12.628 1/4 mile, 31.790 in the mile, 4.192 0-60, 9.623 0-100. The Shelby did 12.561 1/4 mile, 31.092 in the mile, 4.060 0-60, 9.706 0-100. Then I added a wing and 100 k of weight and got 12.648 1/4 mile, 31.396 in the mile, 4.171 0-60, 9.820 0-100. Then I tried normal weight with the wing having full downforce and got 12.555 1/4 mile, 31.056 in the mile, 4.118 0-60, 9.506 0-100. Seems weird to me but somehow adding the wing made it faster in a straight line. Anyways just found it interesting so thought I'd share.

It doesn't translate to faster lap times though. I tested all this.

I tested all this stuff beforehand and chose my car based on all the track testing I did. Everyone else had the same resources so I'm not sure why Hill is testing others cars after the fact. I think the Shelby has the highest PP at the specs we tune as well. Add the wing and it's over 500pp. I tuned an S2000 Type V to these specs and it was 20PP lower. It's the way the game is. I'm not going to test a bunch of cars and pick the slowest car :) I tested, chose and tuned the cars to give my drivers the best possible chance of winning. I think we did pretty well on week 1. Week 2 brings new challenges and things could be completely different...but I hope not. A 1, 2 finish is what a tuner dreams of.

If you want everyone to drive equal cars then there happens to be a series for that if I remember correctly :)
